Pathfinder will be published under the Open Gaming License and will be current with 3.5.

Will there be a PDF ONLY version of Pathfinder available? I plan on running Pathfinder using RPGXplorer and having the books in digital format would be much more useful to me.

If so how much will it be?

Individual PDFs will be $13.99. You might note that that's pretty much the same as the subscriber price for the print edition, and you get the PDF for free if you subscribe.

So if you're planning on buying all the PDFs, you might want to consider subscribing, because it's like getting the print edition for the cost of shipping it to you.

Cheliax (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber)

I just subscribed to Pathfinder, as my FLGS seems to have problems ordering it (too bad for them, I say), and moreover I wanted to have access to the pdf version.
As I live in Italy, and the postal service is... erratic at best, I'd like to ask if it would be possible to put all eggs in just one basket: having 6 packages with a monthly schedule is more "risky" (of a lost issue, ruined package, too curious postman, etc.) than having a single package, collecting all the 6 AP issues of a Pathfinder half-year run.

So, the idea I'm proposing is to have the usual subscriber monthly access to the downloadable pdf version, then receiving the "real" Pathfinder books only at the end of the AP currently published - so at the moment the sixth issue goes out, it's sent along the former five issues.

How much would shipping be?

Add it to your cart and start to check out. You'll get shipping quotes after you enter your address. (It'll be no more than $4/copy in the US, and $5/copy internationally—and it may be less.)

When will you release the PDFs? The day they're supposed to arrive? Before? Is there a date for the first one?

PDFs will be available to subscribers when their print edition ships. PDFs won't be available to non-subscribers until the product's street date.

We don't have exact dates for Pathfinder 1 yet—we'll set them when we have confirmation that they're on the way from the printer.

I just subscribed to Pathfinder. But I am a little concerned, did I subscribe to late to receive the first issue? If I don't, do I still get the PDF?

No worries—it doesn't ship until August!

Great! And the subscriber PDF will be available as soon as it ships to the subscribers?

Right now the plan is:

A week or so before we're going to start shipping, we'll send you an email so you know we're going to be charging your credit card.

A few days before we start shipping, we'll authorize a charge against your credit card. If that authorization fails (expired card, etc.), you'll get an email notifying you and giving you suggestions as to how to fix the problem. (The suggestions vary depending on the type of failure.) Note, at this point your card has not yet been charged -- we're just making sure you have the money available.

Then we start shipping. This will take a few days since we'll be processing thousands of shipments, which is a wee bit more than we normally handle on a daily basis. When your volume ships, we charge your card (and send another email if the actual charge fails). If the charge succeeds, we ship your package, add the PDF to your My Downloads page and send you an email telling you this. So you'll get to download and read the PDF before you even get your printed copy delivered.

Non-subscribers won't be able to purchase the PDF until the "street date" for that volume, which is the day we expect copies to be available in stores.

When will the player's guide ship? I would like to look over it before I get the first book.

Ace Smith wrote:

It will ship along with the first Pathfinder. However, we might make the PDF of the Player's Guide available earlier.

Since the first Pathfinder has shipped to the printer, I presume the PDF is ready and could be made available right now? Is there any possibility of charging our cards now so we can download the PDF without waiting for the physical books to return from the printer?

Sorry... for one thing, we have a proofing cycle with printers' proofs, so the product still isn't necessarily final even after we send it to the printer.

Second, we'd have to rewrite our entire fulfillment codebase, which is built around the notion of shipping products.

Third, that doesn't work so well with our marketing strategies.

Fourth, we don't quite have everything in place to begin fulfilling PDFs on the scale that we'll need in August.

But don't worry—once you start getting them, they should be coming real regular-like.

Hi there.

Impressed by the two modules (D0 and D1) - very high production values and lots of fun. I'd love to subsribe to the pathfinder subscription, but I live in the UK. Any chance you can let me know what the costs are for having this posted out to the UK?

Many thanks!

My guess is that the least expensive shipping method for a Pathfinder sub will probably be $5 to the UK. However, to get an exact quote for your location, add the subscription to your cart and start checking out. You'll be able to see your shipping options before you commit to your purchase.

You should've gave an option to subscribe to gamesmastery modules instead with a one for one rollover basis.
My remaining seven issues of dungeon is worth more than 3 issues of Pathfinder; Despite you calling it a book instead of a magazine because how many pages did any recent issue of dungeon or dragon have?..... oh thats right. 96. hmmm.
I don't dispute it being worth $20 but you could've grandfathered loyal subscribers, or given a more even option (like gamesmastery modules). I'm sure I'll check it out. I'm sure it's worth $20.
I'm also sure we don't appreciate marketing that treats working stiffs like 13 yr old rich kids. maybe the $2 (16 page) players guide will tip the scales..... nope.

Here's a napkin - looks like you got some wotsee on you.

Sorry if I sound bitter. I am. Thank you for everything you have given me and my players in the past. I'll take my back issues and go.

wow.

seconded.

(Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber)

Color me confused.

*shrugs*

Subscribed anyway, however. Too bad it's a "book" instead of magazine though (96pg softcover book vs. 96pg softcover magazine) because shipping $4. I hope it comes in a box at least so it wont get smashed.

C'mooooooon!!
It's already the 2nd of August and nothings happened! [JK]
I was hoping to be killing my players with a gaggle of Goblins
(Gaggle? Is that what a number of Goblins is called or is it a crowd? lol)
Any hoo, my point is this;
When will the email to be notified of payement due come? Any idea? Even a guesstimate at the point in August (Start middle or end of August?)

I'm certainly game to give it a shot; this an an MMO or two will pretty much be the extent of my gaming expenditures for quite a while if this pans out...

Hopefully that won't be a problem; I believe Pathfinders will ship in heavy envelopes or even boxes. But if the mailman's violent or angry enough... we can't do much about that. I still remember the story of the guy who I sent a copy of "Serpent Kingdoms" to (hardcover FR book) and he got it bent in half so it would fit into a mailbox...

Yep—if you selected a USPS shipping method, it will be in a sturdy cardboard mailer. If you selected UPS, I believe it will be in a box.

My 11-year-old and I have been enjoying Dungeon and Dragon magazines since the start of Age of Worms, which isn't very long compared to other gamers I know. We are sad to see these great publications come to an end.

We are very excited to see Pathfinders. And I must compliment Paizo on the wonderful job you've done with the transition. I don't know how long you had to plan this, but the execution is impressive. Your communications have all been clear and informative. The Subscription transition facility was top-notch; it showed me everything I wanted to know and made the choices very clear. Bravo!

Thank you

Just go here and click "Add to Cart".

EDIT: Or just scroll to the top of this page.

I have two issues of Pathfinder coming to me from the "rollover" and I'm officially subscribing today. Therefore, my card shouldn't be charged until the third issue ships. Can I excpect to receive the Player's Guide with the first issue or the third?

Thanks in advance, and thanks for the great job you did with Dragon and Dungeon magazines.

For "Charter Subscribers", those of us who signed up for a month-to-month subscription before August 13th, the Player's Guide will ship with your first issue of Pathfinder.

Ok so here's my dilemma.

I have 3 issues coming by way of the transition agreement. I would like to sign up for the month-to-month subscription for issues after that. My understanding is that I will only receive those .pdf copies of the 3 issues I'm owed, if I sign up to be a subscriber now. However, based on some bad experiences in the past with getting duplicate copies during renewal times and then having my renewal date slid back as if the first one had already run out, I'm very leary of setting up the month-to-month thing before I receive those first 3 issues. I don't want to be charged for something I've already paid for.

Can someone in your accounting/subcription department guarantee that will not happen?

thanks,

Mikey

Paizo Employee (Technical Director)

It looks like you've already gone ahead and signed up; you should be able to verify what's going on for yourself on the My Subscriptions page.

I'd love to subscribe, but it's just too expensive for me. I'll just have to pick and choose which editions have adventure paths I'm interested in and purchase them via an online discount outlet.

Well, according to wikipedia, it seems that the collective noun for goblins is:

A Vomit of Goblins.

I like it!

Check out the Pathfinder & 4th Edition thread for the whole discussion. The short answer for now is:

Erik Mona wrote:
I can echo Mike's earlier statement that Rise of the Runelords and Curse of the Crimson Throne will be 100% 3.5. As will all GameMastery Modules at least up until May, 2008. I suppose it is possible that we might eventually release 4e "conversions" for the pre-4e material and for the GameMastery Modules, but as I haven't seen the 4e rules yet, I have no idea how onerous conversion will be, and how much staff time it will require. And I'm not sure we're converting (see above).

Softcover. (Hardcover books on our site should say "Hardcover" in parentheses at the end of the product title.)

Osirion (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber)

I'm having the same issues as other folk with the Pathfinder zip file extracting to an empty folder. I hope it gets fixed soon. I needs me Pathfinder fix.

Osirion (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber)

It seems it was an issue with Firefox. I downloaded it again with Safari and the zip file extracted fine.

What's up with the 10 pdf's?
I can't put them together into one pdf... lame.

Err? Whats with the pdf link of the first game? I've downloaded the players hand book, but the actual issue one (burnt offerings) is just a link to the main page advertising all of pathfinder modules?
Am I doing something stupid?

I normally support my local FLGS but the included PDF content has me seriously considering getting this via a subscription. That said If I subscribe what are my options? I don't utilize a credit card. In America you can get a sort of pre-paid credit card usable up to whatever amount you pumped into it to begin with (perfect for on line shopping) but I went to several banks asking about this and apparently this is an option open to American consumers only. Nothing like this can be acquired in Canada.

Is there some way that I can send you money orders done in US funds that cover six months of a subscription or have direct deposits withdrawn from my bank account or something like this?

A final option for me would be a one time credit card payment. In this case I'd just have my business partner do this for me and pay him back on the spot - but this option precludes a month to month payment scheme. I'd want to pay everything up front for 6 months as my business partner won't go for this if he has to keep track of this.

In short do you have any other purchase options beyond a month to month withdrawal from a credit card?

Ahh, Allowed popups,

then clicked on the 1."persoalize this page" link.
It said it wasnt working or something so try again (try again was in a link like line)
clicked on try again and it refreshed the page.
Now
2. "Download this file" has a (25. MB) next to it and has gone from solid green to an underlined link. Am now downloading.
THanks.
DW
Ps, I definately think theres a problem somewhere though, still at least theres a work around.
