Something Monstrous in Your Mailbox
Everyone loves the Ecology articles in Kobold Quarterly; they're a look at things from the monstrous side of the fence, with nasty DM tricks and great story elements to inspire DMs to greatness. But we can only publish one in each issue… until now.
KOBOLD Ecologies is a massive book of monster love. It heaps on a pile of new ecologies, AND it revises, corrects, and expands all Ecologies from KQ's first two years. Not just any ecologies, either: these are written by some of the best, like RPG Superstar finalist Clinton Boomer, Pathfinder star Richard Pett, master of horrors Nicolas Logue, and KQ publisher and kobold ringmaster Wolfgang Baur.
With both 3E/OGL and 4E articles, this 104-page collection of KOBOLD Ecologies features adventure hooks galore, new monster feats, and all the magic of the Ecology series.
Included are:
- The Ecology of the Barghest by Nicolas Logue (OGL)
- The Ecology of the Centaur by Wolfgang Baur (4E)
- The Ecology of the Cloaker by Paul Leach (OGL)
- The Ecology of the Derro by Wolfgang Baur (OGL)
- The Ecology of the Golem by Ross Byers (OGL)
- The Ecology of the Half-Giant by Clinton Boomer (OGL)
- The Ecology of the Homunculus by Joshua Stevens (OGL)
- The Ecology of the Lich by Richard Pett (OGL)
- The Ecology of the Maenad by Matthew Hanson (OGL/4E)
- The Ecology of the Phantom Fungus by Scott Gable (OGL)
- The Ecology of the Retriever by Matthew Banach & Clinton J. Boomer (OGL)
- The Ecology of the Revenant by Joshua Stevens (OGL)
Pick it up today, and wreak some monster mayhem tonight!

Yo, guys,
A printed copy of the book is only as far away as HERE, at Lulu.com!
Now, it's a b&w interior copy, which means that you missing out on the amazing, full-color art by Joanna Barnum, Jonathan Hodgson, Michael Jaecks, Pat Loboyko and Hugo Solis - with a little luck, Open Design might offer a full-color printed copy!

Thanks but no thanks. I know you can get it here at Kobold Quarterly, but you need to use PayPal and I prefer using my CC, and the shipping is cheaper at Paizo.

Oh, dude, I hadn't even seen that! Thank you!
Is there a print version available through Paizo?

There is a lot of amazing artwork on this one (not counting mine...) so I'd recommend going for the PDF for color!

I'm not sure I understand the CC/PayPal comment above. All PayPal transactions support a credit card instead. Just select the "Credit Card" option rather than "PayPal" when it asks you how you want to fund the order.
I appreciate that people like the art, but a full color version would be very expensive. I'll willing to put a color version on Lulu, but ... Well, we'll see how it does.

Gosh, I never thought I'd say this, but Logue's ecology is absolutely brilliant - worth the price alone I'd say.

Now stop reading my drivel and get yourselves into the heads of liches and other foulness!

I have a thing about using Paypal, will use it, just don't like it.....too long to go into it, but it is more about your shipping costs.. that is way overcharging. shipping should not be that high
And..wait the hard cover version on your site is not Color? If so, please mention that in the store, no where does it say it is only B/W, *Not that I saw*

Could someone explain to me what "3E/OGL and 4E" means? Does each article duel stat or are some of the articles completely worthless to me?

IIRC, all the articles are 3.5, except Centaur (which is 4e) and Maenad (Dual statted.)
However, the fluff in all the articles (which is most of the text) is system-free.

I think the item description for this needs to have a list of the articles in it:
The Ecology of the Barghest by Nicolas Logue
The Ecology of the Centaur by Wolfgang Baur
The Ecology of the Cloaker by Paul Leach
The Ecology of the Derro by Wolfgang Baur
->The Ecology of the Golem by Ross Byers<-
The Ecology of the Half-Giant by Clinton Boomer
The Ecology of the Homunculus by Joshua Stevens
The Ecology of the Lich by Richard Pett
The Ecology of the Maenar by Matthew Hanson
The Ecology of the Phantom Fungus by Scott Gable
The Ecology of the Retriever by Matthew Banach & Clinton J. Boomer
The Ecology of the Revenant by Joshua Stevens
Also, that's a placeholder cover. The real one has my name on it.

I agree this might be useful for decision's taking... Wolfgang... you should have given u a version of the Centaur for Pathfinder :P you will burn in hell for not doing that :P
hey Ross... the book has marked that the Lich is from Nicolas Logue, no Mr. Pett... at least in the index... ohh ok both article and back cover have Richard Pett...

What are the changes between centaurs in 3.5 and Pathfinder? Or even monsters in general?

Just to make something clear.
Despite what Wolfgang may say publicly, it seems to be generally accepted in various places that, in the end, the lich was everyone's favorite.

So, just to be clear, the print version is black and white from any source, right?

Is there any chance of a better deal on the PDF for the people who buy the dead tree version? At that price point, I feel like I'm buying it twice.

Actually, due to requests on this thread, the print version from Lulu is available in color on demand.
However, the prices Lulu charge make me think demand will be modest for that edition.

Sometimes I think I actually know what I'm doing as a publisher. Making the printer edition of Ecologies B&W is one of those times...
I hope that Volume 1 does well enough that Volume 2 is full-color throughout, of course!

I got PayPal when it first became available, years ago, and one of the first things they did was steal money from my bank account and overdraw me.
Has anyone ever seen the Role Aids supplement "Dark Folk?" I'm not sure how similar it is to this product, but it was pretty good and got into the ecology, history, religion, culture, laws, etc of races such as kobolds, orc, trolls, and so forth.
