Baby Goat FTW!

Baby Goat is awesome, but where can I get Pugwumpi for my LoF game?

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

I usually go to San Antonio for Cabrito, but I think I should try Katapesh next time...

cappadocius wrote:

Pugwampis are coming shortly, I promise. Immora's been kind enough to handle at least the first few sets of the Bestiary, and I'll have them up very shortly after I receive the original images.

Agreeicon'd! :D

Camel is a close second; Dashki's my favorite biped, though.

I may be self-indulgent, but I wanna see y'all's take on divs!

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

I'm with you, Daigle. What I'd really like to see the most are minis of the things we can't get minis of anywhere else for LoF, for future reference.

Better than I was expecting. These are going to blow my players away. Between this and Worldworks games, it's a lot of printing, but man this is going to be worth it. Great job.

These really are quite awesome. I'm very much looking forward to seeing where you guys take this idea.

Congrats and good luck guys.

I love the camel!

YES! This is an awesome product. Please make more out of all the monsters in the monster manual. I don't purchase minis cause they're too expensive but this stuff is great compared to the flate pieces of paper I use!

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

O wait...Crystal Frasier is Immora? Well, no wonder.

Thank you Paizo and Mr. Sperry I have been looking for good quick and cheap mini's for so long. Expand this line and I will buy everyone especially low level undead, goblins and orcs.

Holy crud! That's MY baby goat and camel up there, gettin' all the love :D

I'm happy for you Immora...but even happier for my little selfish self.

Well, that's because your goat and camel are the bomb-diggity. I've also got a soft spot for your rendition of Dashki, the surly, smelly gnoll hunter, hence his representation on the cover. :D

And thanks, everyone! I'd respond personally to you all, but there's, like, thirty posts up there. :P So I'll just try to hit the key points.

For the immediate moment, all my arting skills are going towards getting the LoF adventure sets out and on the market. Once I'm caught up, I'll have more time to devote to, say, a new fancy goblin set or some undead (probably a zombie/skeleton/ghoul set to start off; that pretty much covers the low-level corporeal types) or such. Hugo's gonna work on a set of troglodytes (they pop up in LoF and Second Darkness), and has his eyes on some kobolds as well.

I'm hoping to get the more standard monster varieties covered and smothered quickly; I mean, EVERYONE needs a cheap orc horde, and getting the Pathfinder-style goblinoids is just too cool.

Actually, I am feeling sort of proud of Paizo and our community right now. How cool is this, that two of our members get to showcase their art and talents, and end up selling a product through the very company they are fans of?

I am now looking forward to meeting you two personally at PaizoCon even more!

Well done, Ashton!
Well done, Crystal!
Well done, Paizo!

Agreed! I have to say, with any other community and any other company, I'd have a hard time seeing this happen. It really is amazing to me that this is happening, and it's all thanks to all you fine folks, and those mad geniuses at Paizo who decided to give me a shot.

And Timitius, I'm looking forward to meeting you as well, and all you other people, too! Feel free to bring a favorite paper mini to the Con and I'd be happy to sign it. :P

Now, if you'll excuse me, I probably should get back to making those sets so you all will have favorite minis to bring to PaizoCon so I can sign them. :D

Aw, thanks Tim. And thanks Ashton for giving me to idea to make paper minis and the chance to help him on this project.

This really is cool.

Looks like some double-sided tape and a handful of pennies could really come in handy with these...

For some reason, these guys are printing out at 3/4 scale for me. The bases for the humans are about 3/4 inch instead of 1 inch. Is the scale intentional or am I the only one getting this problem?

Make sure you don't have "scale to fit" checked when you print maybe?

bugleyman wrote:

Darn good idea. Quicker than glue. I'm mulling over how to stack the cutouts and slip them onto reusable bases, kinda like the board games provide. 'Tis garage sale season!

Nope. I tried all of the scale adjustments.

Something i noticed is that there is about a two inch gap betwenn the copyright info and the bottom of the page that is not there on the gnoll PDF. I am not sure that is a factor or not.

Hrm. They should be standard 1 inch bases, so it's not intentional. I'll check it out. In the meanwhile, has anyone else had this problem?

EDIT: Think I've figured it out. The program I use to convert the PDFs is trying to resize them. I'll get it fixed up and send a new PDF off to Vic; sorry for the problem.

I'll post an update as soon as the problem's cleared up, and you guys can re-download the sets. Sorry again, everyone. Big whoopsie on my part.

Thanks for the response N'wah. I look forward to the updated version (and all future paper minis).

Any chance you can 'white out' the bases while you're at it?

Pugwampis before June please.

The revised file is now available. (If the file shows that it has already been personalized, you'll need to repersonalize it before you can download the new version.)

The resized set is up! Sadly, I didn't think ahead and white the bases, but I'll see if I can get a set with white bases done and either upload it or have you guys send me an e-mail (e-mail address is in my profile) and I'll e-mail it to you. I'd definitely do another upload, but I don't want to add to Vic's already impressive workload, so we'll figure something out. Rejoice in knowing that all future sets will have white bases.

On the pugwampi topic, Immora's doing the Bestiary; I highly doubt it'll take her 'til June. I'll e-mail her and see how it's going. There is one pugwampi in the "House of the Beast" set, which should be up tonight (just printed out a copy about five minutes ago), but he's a "special" pugwampi. :P

The next set's rather pretty, actually, in my humble artistic opinion. I think it will satisfy.

Question: when we will be seeing some PC minis? The two sets so far seem nice, but are both pretty much NPC-oriented. Well, I guess you could have a gnoll or one of the caravan members as a PC, but that's limiting your concepts a lot. When will we be getting some more standard adventurers? We could use some elves, dwarves, halflings, and whatnot to be able to really build a party.

Funny enough, other than the Pathfinder iconics, I hadn't thought of that. I think I had asked a while back what kind of sets people wanted to see and someone mentioned dwarves. I could probably get some PC races sets going, in which case, a player could pick up the set and use one of the minis from that, and I am hoping to do some sets of, say, pirates or thieves guild guys, which could work in a similar fashion. Yeah, I think that would work rather well.

Is that what you're looking for, or were you looking for an actual set of adventurers? Like, make a set of wizards, or clerics, or something?

I don't know if a full set of just wizards would be needed, but I'm just suggesting that if you want people to use these as the primary minis of a campaign you need to make sure to make some PC-friendly sets and not just the monsters and NPCs of the Pathfinder arc. Heck, even the iconics don't cover all of the race/gender combos you can do with the primary races. To be able to really make these usable for PCs, it'd probably be good to do say, a set of dwarves in various clothing and armor styles with various weapons, a similar set of elves, and so on. "Old human wizard with a pointy hat" may be a cliche but people still want to play it sometimes and they're going to be annoyed if they can't just because it wasn't picked as a Pathfinder iconic and their DM wants to use these minis. The monsters for the Pathfinder arcs are important, but the players will probably want cool and at least somewhat-unique-looking characters to play as while fighting them.

Hey ashton and immora, i just got all three sets availible. They really are very cool, thank you.

With regards to PC sets. I think there is a market for these.

A good place to start might be with a 'Heros of the legecy of fire' set, containing 10 or so PC mini's designed to fit the themes and setting of the legacy of fire.

(RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

Having just recently gone looking for figures to represent a male gnome sorcerer (and found ONE at Reaper, thank goodness!), and a female barbarian hammer and klar wielder (yup, going to be modding a fig) and also wondering where I might ever find a nice selection of bald barbarian types, male and female, for the Sklar-Quah and Lyrune-Quah of the Shoanti (those I know shave the pate), having a general selection of minis that are for the characters in Pathfinder would be nice!

Good call, gang. A lot of the stuff I'd had planned is rather GM-specific (monsters, AP sets, you know the drill), and I'd been planning on stuff like commoners and the like. But I'm more than cool with doing Dwarves (possibly four fighter-looking guys, a sneaky scout that could serve as a rogue or ranger, a battle-cleric, a spellcastery-looking dwarf, and maybe a rage-y two-handed guy who could work as a barbarian), Elves (two skirmish-fighting elves that would work as rangers or fighters, two bow-weilding elves 'cuz elves love bows, couple of arcane casters and a couple of divine caster), and so forth. I could easily make a few sets that are more region-specific (I'd already had street toughs as an option, 'cuz every city adventure demands the PCs get jumped by muggers), especially things like a Shoanti pack, or an Osiriani pack, or Katapesh/Qadira, etc.

I'm completely cool with this idea. Just gotta clear some of these mini packs off my plate, and I've got some side-projects that demand my attention (at for the PaizoCon Fanzine, and a paid commission). But these would make a nice break from the AP sets, where my options are pretty much set. Consider these up on the big board, so to say. :D

It would be really nice to see the long rumoured 'street toughs and commoners' pack released. Given that you have already done loads of material for that, i would imagain it would be fairly easy for you to get that out to your adoring public.

Well, yeah, but I'm an artist, so stuff I did a few months ago is now, to me, utter crap. :P

I wouldn't mind getting that set done, though. Don't worry, I'll do it... sometime. :D

Doing some hero sets would be totally awesome. I haven't been able to take much of a stab at dwarves thus far, and they're one of my favorite fantasy races.

That being said, I've got the bestiary for the first LoF book almost done (blame Lilith for slowing me down with PaizoCon fanzine requests and my roommates for needing rides to the doctors and the vet), and it includes a nice little pack of Pugwumpis (and they're adorable).

If you want dwarves, you got dwarves, Immora! I'm dwarf-ambivalent, myself, so no argument there. We'll work on divvying up the spoils soon enough.

And I understand the PaizoCon fanzine art situation, myself. T'were I not off work with my bum leg, I'd probably be WAY behind, instead of just behind. But I've been enjoying doing the fanzine art. A lot, actually.

I'm excited to see the pugwampis. I love/hate those little buggers. :P That, and the doru div. Those guys are fun.

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

I love the idea of having cultural theme packs. LOVE! I hate those situations where the pcs are entering a foreign culture, and all I have are three Asian minis, one Middle Eastern mini, etc.

As a placeholder for those of us dying for the past AP's, what about some generic Varisian packs.

eg Residents of Korvosa: Hellknight, Sable Co Marine, Korvosan Guard, Commoner, Red Mantis, Imp, Pseudo-dragon, Acadamae student....

Scribbling Rambler wrote:

YES!

I feel i must 'demand' this also :D, given that it is probably the most generically useful set you could release, given the three Varisian AP's if you get a 'off the curren't AP oppitunity, that would be a great choice.

Alright, Varisians it is! I'll probably be trying to shoehorn in some kind of Qadiran or Garundi set, too, to fill out the roster for LoF "supplementary" packs (though it will most likely be a "Citizens of Katapesh" pack; not a whole lot of dudes with swords, though I may do a couple of the Azure Guard or whatever those guys are called).

Immora's got some lovely Grey Maidens, and I believe she's also whipped up some Red Mantis assassins. They're available in this thread, if you're willing to dig. And they're free. :D

N'wah,

I'd just like to say that I think the minis are awesome, but if I had known there would be so many sets I would have spoken up on behalf of a lower price-point. The PDFLove deal ends very soon, but I think that the 35% off price was actually closer to what you should be charging if you want people to buy these products on impulse.

$4-5 is what I might like to pay for a whole AP Chapter's worth of minis, especially considering I take the burden of physical materials with my wallet also. If we're looking at four to five different sets to cover a single AP chapter, I should say that payments of 1-2 dollars are probably in order. Of course, that's just me, and you should let your own sales dictate the price you're going to charge.

-the proud owner of three new paper mini sets
