From the image it looks like this flip mat may be re-producing maps from the Map Packs. Is this just a mock up, and the maps will all be know, or will the flip mat indeed recycle some of the campaign map pack stuff? If the latter, which ones?

This is just a mock-up. The products in each line will always feature all-new cartography.

So cool! I can see Jim Carrey and Mathew Broderick facing off now!

"Jim, if we do not fight each other, they will kill us both."

And then the Star Trek Music kicks in!

Da Da Daaa Daa Daa DaaTaa Daahaa!

Could we have Robin Williams as a referee?

and maybe Zachary Quinto stealing Nimoy's brain in the background

I'm almost done...just need to add more detail...and then more detail. And then do the other side...with yet, more detail. Itsa looking nice-uh.

The devil is in the details.

Can you post an image of the entire map?

We should be posting an image of the finished product soon...

Soon could still be less than 4 weeks :)

Soon could be now!

If you still see the old image, clear your browser's image cache.

Has this been pushed back to December???

Current word from the printer is that we should expect it in the first week of December, plus or minus a few days...

Osirion (Pathfinder Adventure Path, Battles Case Subscriber)

I noticed that this item was pushed into my Dec subscriptions but is listed as mid Jan arrival. I have made comment about this in a customer service thread but it seems reasonable to ask for clarification as to when this item is being released.

It will be shipping this week as part of the December shipment. Considering you are overseas, it will more than likely show up in January. The street date (ie. the date it will show up on retail store shelves) is January 13, 2010 which is mid-January in my book. Make sense?

Yep, according to my account info my December subscription pre orders were "placed" yesterday, and this Arena was in it, along with Jungle.

Osirion (Pathfinder Adventure Path, Battles Case Subscriber)

Thanks Lisa.

Yeap. My confusion was that it was listed for a release mid Jan and following convention I assumed it was for then. Everything clarified - thank you!

To answer the question recently posted to the product review section of this page ("hey, what's on the back?")...

The back of this one features the same arena, only this time the fighting ground has been flooded with water for naval and aquatic battles.

How very Roman!

I love the flip mats and have found them, in combination with the map packs, a great addition to my game. I'm pretty disappointed that the opposite side of the arena is just another arena. I'm not sure what the thought process behind that was. Even a blank terrain map of something that hasn't been done yet, like an open desert landscape (without an oasis) might have been a better choice.

On closer inspection I suppose it could be representing a water filled arena, but I'm still not quite getting the point. In general, the more diverse the sides, the better.

While I would love actual barren desert (I agree there was too much water and foliage in the current desert flip mat), I really like having a flooded arena on the other side of this map.

I imagine they did the water version because of the famous Roman Coliseum and how it used to be flooded to hold sea battles. So seems extremely fitting to me.

I see the desire for gamers to want a plain desert side, too. The generic flip-mat has a simple enough texture and variance on both sides that it could be concrete, dirt, or sand. Placeable transparent objects is still a concept I've been throwing around. Whatya think?

Yes, please! Way back when, Hero System came out with a bunch of images done in primary colors on clear plastic (like Colorforms for gamers) to put movable stuff on your battlemat for Champions. I would LOVE something like that for Pathfinder!

I do admit that there are small item components that get used is both flip-mats and map packs, but never (or very rarely) the the same layout or models. That's kind of cheap in my mind.

A MUST have for anyone who plays "outside the box". Having a place to have your captured evils auctioned off, a spot that has various evils for adventurers to fight for everyone else's entertainment & your added experience points, a place for tournaments, solving grievances & for the local hierarchy's executions along with anything else your twisted mind can conjure. Oh, almost forgot - Mage battles!
More fun than finding an Orc encampment at the bottom of a rocky ravine.
