Something foul lurks in the crypt below the ruined church of Sarenrae in the ghost town of Kelmarane—something so foul that the savage humanoids that now claim the town as their lair avoid the church entirely. What is the link between the strange, otherworldly influence in this sinister crypt and the town's troubled past, and can your characters survive to the end to find out?

WorldWorksGames in partnership with Paizo Publishing is proud to bring you our first release in the official Pathfinder Terrain series. The Ruined Undercrypt of Kelmarane serves as the climactic dungeon of the adventure "Howl of the Carrion King," the first installment in the Pathfinder Adventure Path Legacy of Fire! Bring your next game to life in a way that will simply astound your players!

This fully modular, 3-D terrain set is designed around a “place-as-you-play” framework to keep your players guessing as they pass through each area. It’s as easy as print, build and play! You’re not limited by specific build sizes or layouts, either; combine elements or print extra corridors to create massive undercrypt environments. And for those pressed for time, we’ve also included WorldWorksGames' exclusive 2.5-D build system, allowing you to use 2-D floor tiles combined with 3-D doors and props! All of this backed by our expertly crafted 300dpi custom textures and easy-to-follow instructions make this a must-have package for any Pathfinder Adventure Path fan.

The Ruined Undercrypt of Kelmarane includes all of the following:
  • 102 pages of walls, floors, templates, and props (both 3-D and 2.5-D versions)
  • Richly illustrated 45-page instruction manual
  • Upper crypt Circular Antechamber with stairs, well and moveable gong
  • Upper crypt Main Crypt chamber with burial niches, raised dais platform and ceramic cask
  • Upper crypt Reliquary with hidden treasures
  • Lower crypt Antechamber with fully functional sliding portcullis! (Also includes flat nonfunctional version)
  • Lower crypt halls: 4 ancient modular hall sections with burial niches, archways and mist FX
  • Lower crypt Funerary Chamber: Large removable door, 6 removable columns (for easy play), ornate throne, raised two-step dais, angled chamber walls with entry arch
  • Mounting templates for all rooms and corridors
  • Includes 2-D tilesets for all 4 rooms and 5 halls!
  • Simplified 2.5-D version of cask
  • Includes freestanding 2.5-D doors, portcullis and archways!

So what are you waiting for? Take your next Pathfinder adventure to the next level and astound, delight, and inspire your players today!

This looks really good. I downloaded the instructions, and I think they'd also work great as templates for foam-and-flock constructions.

I took a look at the downloadable building instructions and I have to say that it has just raised the bar a notch higher.
Great detail, clarity and overall usefulness both for the novice and the veteran.

Very good to see that both the full 3D and the easier 2.5D versions (the latter is awesome for those who prefer gaming mats or have storage issues) are included.

I use all sorts of 3D terrain and props in my D&D/Pathfinder gaming, from Dwarven Forge to Paper terrain to Tact-tiles to Train set scenery and such.

I've been curious about WWG for quite some time, and this product might just be the one that makes me a customer. Very, very compelling stuff, I must say!

I have a question though: as far as the corridors and set pieces are concerned, how compatible are they with say... dwarven forge set pieces? Are hybrid dioramas easily built?

Thanks for the comments gang! I just want to say that it was a terrific experience pulling this terrain together for Paizo. The staff was awesome and extremely helpful in getting this underway! We feel really fortunate to have our work associated with such an amazing license and the raw talent backing Pathfinder.

We can't wait to show you what we have up our sleeve for release #2 of the Pathfinder Terrain series! It's going to be awesome!

The terrain is modular but it is primarily structured around the cartography in a specific Pathfinder release. You can certainly build additional copies of corridors and rooms though to expand the core build. Generally, we use a different build system and dimensional standards than Dwarvenforge. That's not to say you can't mix the two but it might take some "kitbashing" to shape things how you want. See our forums for a ton of info on user kitbash techniques: http://www.worldworksgames.com/forum/

We plan on releasing additional "modularity add-on's" to each Pathfinder release. These expansions will add a higher degree of flexibility for builds that are outside of the original cartography layout. Mainly they'll offer unique connecting corridors in other formats (T and X junctions) as well as a generic room or two. This is fantastic news for anyone who needs an element to push the original environment into realms beyond the stock build.

As more terrain becomes available we'll probably release cross compatibility patches as well so that users can blend environments.

Exciting stuff all around! ;)

Anyone have an idea how much total the material costs to build something like this?

Taldor Robert Hawkshaw (Pathfinder Chronicles Superscriber; GameMastery Superscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber),

A 10 Ambassador-Darvayne avatar

It depends on where you live, and what craft stores are near you.

In Vancouver, at Staples, up near the university, the foamcore costs 6 bucks a sheet, cardstock costs 14 bucks for 250 sheets, glue 2 bucks or so. If I went out to the burbs to a Michael's Craft or another bigger box store I think I could get the foamcore for a lot less, like 3 dollars a sheet (purchased in bulk).

Really rough estimate 10 bucks CAD, or what, 7-8 USD.

Opinions vary but ultimately it depends which materials you are using, which printer, what inks and what deals are available to you. If you have time please check out our "Model Building Tips, Tricks & Questions" section at the WorldWorksGames forum: http://www.worldworksgames.com/forum/index.php . The great thing about the format Spamhammer is that you can choose to build say 2-D corridors but with full 3-D rooms for main encounter areas. Mixing and matching gives you the flexibility to create a build that works with whatever time you have to dedicate. 3-D isn't as bad as you might think either time-wise. This is generally pretty fast stuff once you get into the groove.

Yesterday evening I printed the whole set for a full 3D build, and I have to say that the textures quality is something unreal.
Maybe it's just the new printer, but to me this set has reached an unprecedented level of crisp detail, color brilliance and inspiration.

This evening it's cut-out and templating/basing time, along a second run of Thoumont's ('cause it's just that good).

Looking forward to the next release of the Paizo+Worldworks line.

I had a short look already a few days ago when I decided to buy castleworks ultimate. Very cool pics there! I will have a more thorough look when (or if) I find the time.

I should have a look at the forum for more ideas for material and building. I just started with basing today, and I´m not done yet, but already noticed a thing or two.

Anyway, very cool work! Keep going. My campaign will definitely feature a fight in a castle if I get it running again :-)

I ordered the foamcore from besthobby link - just put the word "Leichtstoffplatte" into the search function on the right side and choose "schwarz" from the result, and there you are. They delivered fast and it was not very expensive.

For paper, I had a supply of 180 grams per square meter paper lying around, with a relatively rough surface - depending on the printer used, the color might not hold on paper that is too smooth (I had that problem when testing the possibility of using self-adhesive paper for the floor - the color got minor white spots in it.) I think using a 200 gram paper would not hurt either.

For glue, I´m still experimenting - "Uhu Flinke Flasche" with green markings seems to be too fluid and caused warping, a glue stick like "Pritt" seems to work so far, but you need lots of that stuff. I have yet to test the UHU Office Pen Danny recommends.

I had one of those green cutting mats lying around anyways and a small knife as well, and just bought a new aluminium ruler from a local shop. For the ruler, you should care that it has some foam on the underside.

Look at Dannys website, there are threads dedicated towards the aspects of building these models.

Some prefer the "print as much as you want" flexibility of the PDF format. That said, we're all for getting this out there in a pre-printed format but ultimately it depends on demand. If enough of you scream loudly, maybe the Paizo gods will hear you ;)

This is awesome - congrats to both companies for this great partnership. WWG produces by far the best 3d paper modelling stuff and Paizo produces by far the best adventures.... how can this not go well?

It'll be a long time before I get to Legacy of Fire (we're just starting CotCT), but that will give me lots of time to build the terrain in anticipation... :)

PS: Hey Webmonster, check this out: CoolIris Your Site. It'd be great for collections of photos like in this item description. :)

WWGDenny wrote:

I am definitely of this category here.

As a Warhammer player I am already programmed with the "builder" mindset, and I want more versatility from buying this product than one adventure run. So, using this one product I can expand rooms, stretch hallways and make new ones, and build tons of the dressing materials for my games and scatter them all over the place. Also, if I am in a rush, I can just select the 2.5 option and it's quick-and-easy adventuring!

This is the seventh WorldWorks product I own. I have some Mayhem products for Heroclix and Mutants and Masterminds games. I also have the Gothic, Chunky Dungeon, Cathedral Noctis and Noctis: Requiem products, and these together give me a very wide range of options. I recommend them heartily.

Hey, got a few pics of those? I always loved Spelljammer, although I never had a chance to play. (And I´m still trying to get the line complete - quite some distance still to go, got about 2/3 of the gaming stuff and three of the novels.) The strange ship forms were always something to be amazed about.

I am new to paper modeling and I just built my first set, caveworks, over the last couple of weeks ( it does take some time to build, but it is fun and something to do) and it turned out awesome. I printed up enough copies of the pdf's so that I can build any size cave system that I run across. I am currently going to debut it in " Children of the Void" next week.

As far as costs, the glue I use costs $ 3.00 per tube, of which I used three. The card stock I bought was 12.00 for 250 sheets. The one BIG advantage I have is I use the printer at work, so I cannot attest to the cost of the ink. You will also need an xacto knife and a ruler, not even five busks at Wal-Mart.

I didn't think I had the time either but I do it just sitting around watching tv. And of course the wonderful MI weather lately has kept me inside as well, so I found the time and it is well worth it.

1 hour and a half cutting, edging and gluing the walls, the floor sections and the stairs. Then I left the walls under a stack of books overnight to have them dry out the glue without any warping.
About 1 hour more placing the walls in place, then the floor sections and finally the stairs.

Mind that it was not a frantic effort, and there were many pauses during which I worked on the props (the gong) and I started cutting stuff for room #2.
