Because it's a low-profit-margin item for us, we're not selling it in significant quantities to the book trade (including Amazon), though we sent them some to cover preorders.

We are selling it through the hobby channel (that is, game stores) worldwide, though; I'd expect European distributors should have it by now.

I do have confirmation that the European distributors have it. If it's not already on store shelves, it should be very shortly. If you're FLGS is having any trouble getting it, it's currently available from the following distributors:

North America
ACD Distribution
Aladdin Distributors
Alliance Game Distributors
Diamond Comics
GTS Distribution
Lion Rampant Imports
Premier Hobby
Universal Distribution
Warpath Games

Europe
Millenium
Brave New World
Ulisses Spiele
Arcane Tinmen
Esdevium Games
Pegasus Spiele

Australia
Walrus And Carpenter

This was how I hoped 4E would be.

I can't wait for the hardback.

Hi junkkoroba,

Please note that this is available in France. Perhaps you can order it from a local provider more cheaply than through Amazon (which you may not even be able to do, as we sent a very limited number of these to Amazon).

i don't have any local provider near me , so i try internet and i only found campaign settings on french internet market. no beta atm , i will check again :)

Only 1 more week to wait, till I get the hardcopy from Amazon (used a gift card last month--free!!)!! Looking forward to sitting down & reading the book. Pdfs are nice but they don't beat a book in your hand.

When I preordered from Amazon(Canada) (mid-Aug), the estimated ship date was Sept 1. Now it is in mid October. Are there plans to ship a second batch to them, or did I miss the boat on this one? If needed I will order the Beta from Paizo (a bit more expensive what with shipping and all), and was wondering if I should cancel the Amazon order as a lost cause or wait.

Also want to know if there is enough in stock in your warehouse or am I still missing the beta boat?

We shipped our one and only shipment to our book distributor a few weeks ago. If Amazon is out, then they likely won't have them in for a while now. Our stock of the first print run of the Beta is dwindling rapidly, so if you want one soon, you should order now. We will most likely reprint this book, though I need to talk with Erik, Jeff and Vic next week to make the final decision.

In my experience, Amazon tends to be conservative in its delivery estimate. Lowered expectation but earlier delivery equals higher customer satisfaction.

Thanks for the answer Lisa. I thought as much about Amazon after what Chris said. Fortunately my FLGS had a copy left as well as the Campaign Setting (also ordered at Amazoo - and delayed) so I picked them up from them. Neither of them were on the shelves so I figure I got someone elses ordered stuff after they didn't pick them up. My luck, their loss I guess.

Now, if only I could scratch up the moola for the Pathfinder issues 2-11 that they DO have on their shelves.....

(Pathfinder Campaign Setting Superscriber)

Just found out that Amazon is out. Probably just cancel & forget about this one & wait for the actual rules come out next year.

Wish they could have informed me earlier. Waiting a month for a preorder to ship & then seeing it delayed the time it was suppose to go out is VERRRRYY ANNOYING!!!

Just anther reason why I hate pre-ordering things.I guess I can use the gift card on something else now.

Paizo still has copies, so you can get it here!

(Pathfinder Campaign Setting Superscriber)

Thing is or was, is I had a 25 dollar gift card (which I better still have due to the cancellation) & by using that I got the book free. Cash flow is ok right now, but hey a free book is a free book.

I'll think about it, but probably just lean toward getting the full rules next year & just go with the pdf copy I have now.

Hi everyone!

For the French players/DM : Amazon France has TWO copies in stock at this date (14/10/2008). I order mine 5 minutes ago!
So, first come, first serve!

After a two month hiatus in RPG, I will have my copy this week and my new players will be charmed by the system and the world.

I can't wait to put my hands on this book!!!!!!!!

Great work PAIZO!!!

Wow. Very highly impressed by what's been done here. I especially like the power-up of the sorcerer and fighter. Looking at what's been done here with arcane heritages for the sorcerer, this is the first time since reading 3.5 books like Races of the Dragon that I've been tempted to play one.

I simply have got to get the softcover of this, the PDF just isn't enough! I just wish the local bookstores woudl allow me to order it through them, rather than saying that it's 'out of print'.

Eric Hinkle wrote:

Hey Eric:

Just to defend the game stores, it IS out of print. We are down to our last few hundred copies and are no longer selling them into distribution. There is an outside chance that there might be a reprint in January, but currently there are no concrete plans to do so. If you want a paper copy, you will want to snatch up the ones on the local game stores shelves, or order one of the last few here on paizo.com.

Thanks for telling me, though at best it'll be a few weeks before I can send in the money.

But definitely by Thanksgiving at the latest!

I don't know where to post this, so I'll just post it here.

I've been reading a bit through the softcover Beta release, and I got to the spell section, the part about "Find the Path" in particular.

I have an idea of how it should work.

in order for it to find the way to a place, they must have an artifact from that place and know the name of the place. and for the spell to work, they should have to be within a certain range of the area in question [possibly increase in range as their caster level increases?] and even THEN it merely draws a magical straight line to the destination. not showing them the direct path to said place.

or another possibity, is making it mark their map for a certain amount of hours, minutes or so, and making the spell only cast-able once a day?

Tried to purchase a copy of Pathfinder Beta through my FLGS only to be told that it is out of print! Say it ain't so! Should he try another distributer? Or is this going to go through a second print run?

It looks like I may have to wait for the hardcover to come into print. That or haunt the online sites that deal in used books and hope.

We have some left here on paizo.com, so you don't have to haunt any other online site. :)

We don't have enough copies left to sell into distribution, though, which is why there aren't any left to sell to stores. We usually cut off selling to distribution when we get down to a hundred or so copies left of any of our products, btw.

But just so I'm sure -- this book will eventually be coming out in hardcover, right?

I still intend to get a softbound edition, but if needs be I'll get the hardcover one too.

The beta is softcover only; the finished RPG, due next August, will be hardcover only.

Placed my order today. Here's hoping that it is still in stock at the Paizo warehouse!

My FLGS is hoping that plans move forward for a second printing. Still lots of interest in this.

As long as you see an "add to cart" button, it's still in stock! When the last copy gets ordered, the button gets replaced by the text "not currently available."

I am new. I have tried to download the beta rules, I have even ordered it for free, but I don-t seem to do it. Any help?

Using linux here, and I have a problem on all of my machines. In the small headers the capital As don't get shown. According to the documents properties they are embedded.. anyone can help?

I bought my copy yesterday in London in Orcs Nest. I had been in the store, looked around, and given up on finding any Paizo material. As I was leaving I decided to ask the owner if he had any 3.5 material that I hadn't managed to find. He apologised and said that all they had was that one small shelf I had been looking at. I was telling him that was too bad as I really wanted to buy some Paizo stuff. At that point he went "Ah, Paizo ... yeah, I have a shelf of their stuff but I don't really think of it as 3.5 any more now that they have gone their own way!"

I was very happy. I got the Darkmoon Vale gazetteer and the Beta rules. They had 1 copy of the Beta rules left on Christmas Eve, so anyone in London may want to check them out.

Oh, and I was VERY IMPRESSED by the book. It is good enough to eat!!!!

Cheliax (Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber)

Happy Christmas Hewligan !!

You can also download the Magic Items web enhancement, as well as the Prestige classes web enhancement to complement the Beta.

And if you like Darkmooon Vale make sure to check "Hallow's Last Hope" and "Revenge of the Kobold King" two free Paizo pdfs located in that locale.

Hope Santa was giving in London town.

Happy Christmas to you too!

I wasn't aware of the enchancements. I will definitely pick them up.

I already have Hallow's Last Hope and Revenge of the Kobold King. I liked them so much (especially the dynamics of the lumber consortium / town) that I bought Crown of the Kobold King to complete the (loose) trilogy. I am running a Rise of the Runelords AP at the moment, but I am thinking of either going with the above trilogy next, or perhaps the Age of Worms (I love Whispering Cairn and Diamond Lake, and at the very least want to play that first adventure).

Santa was good to my family this year. I got a jolly nice cardigan from my wife, and a book on the First World War from my mother. Best of all: naked lady cufflinks (1940s pinup style). In truth, though, my Christmas came yesterday when I went uptown to buy myself some Paizo products to consume over the Christmas period.

Cheliax (Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber)

Ahhhh, a great family, a great cardigan, a great new bed toy, a great read and The Great War.

Priceless mate !

It's apparently a problem with a library used by your PDF renderer; I know that the people who can fix it are aware of it, but I don't know what the status is for getting it fixed. (You can read more about it here.)

I've been told the only Linux PDF viewer that *doesn't* use that library—and thus doesn't have the problem—is Adobe Reader.

That is a remarkably exact reply, thank you, I am impressed :)

Using acroread does indeed solve it.
I went and filed a bug against the poppler lib (appearantly I was not the first to do, didn't know that..).
Hopefully it will be fixed but using acroread will do fir a while.. Once I have a solid copy of the Beta I won't need it anymore anyway ;)

Really impressive, indeed...

I was about to switch my FR 3.5 campaign to 4E, but Pathfinder made me desist. At some point, it has some BoXM flavor in it.

Like it.

I was really dissappointed with 4E and this is very close to what I was looking forward to.Great work with the skills and awesome new feats.One-two points though: 1)I think that "channel energy" provides too much healing for the PCs. Unless the revised monsters deal great amounts of damage at levels beyond 8th, the PCs have a huge advantage. 2)20th lvl Bard, deadly performance. It will kill you or...it will kill you! 1d4 rounds of inaction at these levels is fatal for sure. 3)I understand the reduction of the armor check penalties and the higher dex bonus at higher levels, but why better AC? Don't fighters already have great ACs?
Of course more powerful enemies would justify such changes...
keep up the good work!!!

We had sent a couple hundred copies to our book trade distributor back in August, so maybe Amazon bought the last remaining copies from them? Also, they use the whole affiliate system, so perhaps other game stores are selling their copies through Amazon?

Thank-you Lisa, Vic & Fayries

I don't know how I got 3 printings in my head. I tried to satisfy myself with the PDF, but I'm finding reading it on-screen inconvenient. I will check Amazon.
PS to any fellow Canucks out there, Chapters.ca does not have it :(

Whenever I read over this new version of the 3.5 rules and this campaign setting I was thoroughly impressed. I'm going to say these are the best D&D rules that I have ever read or ever come across. I am extremely impressed with the class and race overhaul and love what the creators of Pathfinders have done with the system. Before these rules, I would hesitate to play certain classes because they were either underpowered or I couldn't find them fun. I find every single class fun in this PDF book. This is an excellent piece of true Dungeons and Dragons material. Brilliant work for all of those who made Pathfinder possible. I am excited and looking forward to the release of the finished and polished version of Pathfinder.
