I already own the un-revised edition! I would be very interested to know whether the expansions are compatible with that version before I purchase them. What in particular is different about the revised edition that makes it compatible with the expansions?

You will need to get the "upgrade" pack to update your un-revised version to the revised version. The expansions were made specifically for the revised version. The board and the card design changed. They also added a new rule for "fate". IMO, the changes are good, and the expansions really add to the package.

I can't answer your question directly, but I can tell you that there is a relatively cheap Upgrade Pack that you can buy to convert non-revised to revised.

Unfortunately however, it appears that Paizo doesn't stock this product. I know for a fact it exists though because my FLGS currently has one in stock. It is relatively cheap compared to the Game/Expansions).

EDIT: Ninja'd by taig...

Do you have 4th Edition un-revised?... I am unsure of the difference between the revised and unrevised.. most likely the revised added expansion capability... But there is a Talisman Upgrade Pack for those that have 4th edition unrevised. Paizo does not seem, but you may be able to find it at other locations on the web.

Edit: Was beaten!

The revision is some changes to the charcter cards to make things a bit more clear and gives you plastic characters to use rather than cardstock ones. It is a nicer game overall with the revisions and does reduce confusion. The upgrade package is worth getting.

That's odd... we used to have the upgrade. Normally, the only reason it would go away is if our distributor stopped carrying it, or it sold out. We'll look into it.

Our distributor removed the upgrade kit from their database about two weeks ago. That usually means they don't expect to get any more.

I'll post this link to Amazon, then, since it won't take any money away from the fine folks at Paizo. :)
