I am bewildered by this choice, but I am also intrigued....nonetheless.

Cheers,

(I tried to post this earlier, but I guess my post was eaten...)

Two questions: 1) Is this artwork just a mock up/placeholder? 2) What's on the flip side?

If I remember correctly, the denumount to Monte Cook's home Ptolus campaign (which Erik was a part of, and mentioned in an editorial) took place in a theater.

The art is just a placeholder art piece. The final art won't be done until probably December, maybe November at the earliest.

Argh! Two years ago I ran an adventure in a theater. REALLY could have used this then (drawing out the theater took me like four hours, and it was still naff). But what are the chances I'll need another theater again? I can only rip off Phantom of the Opera and The King in Yellow so many times! You guys did the same thing to me with the cathedral, releasing it a few months after I really needed it.

So I'm going to buy this, and since I'm going to be doing a Pathfinder Society campaign, I demand that some of the combats take place in a theater. And a cathedral. Preferably soon after this released.

Thanks, Lisa! So, um...what's on the flip side? Or has that been decided yet?

I personally have no idea, so I was hoping somebody else on the staff who is in the know might answer that part of your question.

It'd be cool if there was an Elizabethean style theater on one side, like The Globe built for Shakespeare, and a Greek style outdoor amphitheater on the other side, as these seem like the most likely sorts of theaters to come up in adventures.

Why? I see that the desert is coming out soon, and we have mountains and forests and darklands (oh my) But what I really want now is a flip mat Swamp. RotRL has the marsh south of Sandpoint where tales of a goblin canibal got my ranger interested in going boging. There is a really large section of swamp along the southern coast of Varisia. The CotCT has a swamp adventure. Please can we have a flip mat or at least some tiles for this terrain?

I have all the WotC dungeon tiles and maps and they haven't done swamp either. Why no love for the will-o-wisp's front yard?

An excellent idea! I'll pass it on to Erik.

GameMastery Flip-Mat: Cathedral works very well for Pathfinder Society Scenario #1: Silent Tide (use erasable marker to draw in the pipe organ against the back wall).

GameMastery Flip-Mat: Desert looks perfect for the desert journey in Pathfinder Society Scenario #3: Murder on the Silken Caravan

GameMastery Flip-Mat: Ship looks like it will work well for Pathfinder Society Scenario #8: Slave Pits of Absalom.

I'm hoping that GameMastery Flip-Mat: Theatre might work just as well for Pathfinder Society Scenario #7: Among the Living (fingers crossed!), that theatre took a while to scrawl on my vinyl battlemat, and could never have looked as slick as a GameMastery Flip-Mat!

Has anyone found any other good synergies between GameMastery Flip-Mats and Paizo adventures?

Any other good tie-ins between Mats and adventures we might be looking forward to?

Lucky you...I just played a Pathfinder Society scenario last night that includes a major fight in an Opera House.

Wow ... this is a ... brilliant choice! I'll be getting this for my Call of Cthulhu game, actually. Now all I need is a manor house (with grand ballroom) and a Museum of Natural History, and you'll have my top three Spooky Locations Wishlist!

theater is good and very inspiring. But even better would be a swamp flip mat. there are so many occasions where you can fight in swamps.

What I also would like to buy is a flipmat with a coast and a fortified beach to have assaults of the pirates eg.

Another nice idea for a flipmat would be underwater/amphibious with reefs and corals/underwater caves etc. (suitable for modern diver adventures and fantasy sahaguin) A variant of this could be a map for an underwater city.

How about a flipmap with an infernal theme? You know streams of lava, skullbridges etc.

And how about a flipmat with air/sky motives/flying elemental motes for the combat in the clouds (eg. Andoran eagle knights vs. korvosan griffon riders :))

Looks like this is the Opera House in CoT Six fold Trials. If it is I'm buying this!

It matched the map in the AP as far as I could tell. I ran the play this past weekend and it worked great. Added bonus is the backside is a completely open map with a wooden floor decor that'd be perfect for indoor adventuring and drawing Averni's (sp?) Folly later in the same AP.

Really cool would have been to split the back side into halfs. One half the dressing rooms / lifts under the theater and the other half the catwalks & riggings above the stage.

Ok, maybe 3/4 & 1/4....

Ok. We'll do one in a few months.

That was too easy....

Ok..

A Swamp Flip-Mat is good and very inspiring. But Even better would be a Sewer Flip-Mat.
