Hmmm...this one suggests a Kurosawan 'Seven Samurai' feel...

Awesome!

I'm looking forward to the article on Sarenrae...I think she's probably my favorite god in the pantheon.

I just hope she doesn't seem too Osirion-based. I mean, I hope it is written in such a way that one can easily envision Andoran followers, Varisian followers, etc. So far all we've seen is Kyra, and she seems pretty much like she's from Osirion...

I agree. And I'm also glad we'll see a bit of Rovagug, who hasn't appeared much yet.

I'm pretty sure she's from the Arabian or maybe Persian analogue, not the Egyptian. Khelite?

Paizo Employee (Creative Director)

Yeah, Sarenrae's very much a whirling dervish type deity, with a more Arabian Nights feel. That said, she's also worshiped throughout the Inner Sea region. She's one of the more commonly worshiped deities in Varisia, for example. She (and her cleric Kyra) are both very Qadirian (not Osirian), in any event.

Taldor (Pathfinder Charter Superscriber; Pathfinder Battles Case Subscriber)

Nice to see that I, Zootcat, have made the cover of Pathfinder. It's official... I'm a celebrity!

(Yeah, I know it's just a mock-up, but still.)

Qadira (Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber)

So... from the advanture summery I see that this is going to be a dungeon crawel... I'd much rather have a full Wilderness adaventure, It's so much cooler.

Well, I personally think a god's appearance, demeanor, importance, and even the name of a deity varies from region to region. Even if she is primarily worshipped in Osirion and/or Qadira and that general region, I don't see how people in Varisia can't worship her as well. The religious symbolism and the nature of people's worship might change a bit to reflect their culture but that doesn't mean that those from Varisia, the elves of Kyonin, or even the vikings of the north can't worship Orision, or at least an aspect of the deity.

That's my take on things anyway.

I figured that the various gods were worshipped in different ways by the different cultures, much like in the real world. Poseidon Earthshaker wasn't honored in the same way as Poseidon World-Engirdler (lord of oceans)...

But yes, I love me some deity info.

But then I'd need to tell James to change the name to Wilderness of the Beast.

I do assure you however, that the adventure isn't all that summery, the altitude gives it a bit more of an autumnal feel, its definitely a little cooler than one might expect given the location.

:)

(Pathfinder Campaign Setting Superscriber)

Love the title to this one. Just saying that evokes a cool adventure & when you couple it with the description, just sounds like a overall fun game.

Hoping to get back on track finicially in time to re-up for this one!!

I've updated the cover and description to match the finished product.

That new cover is great. I wasn't so keen on Jesper Ejsing's previous cover for Pathfinder 19 but this looks much better. I'm really looking forward to Legacy of Fire.

Awesome cover.

Is Saranrae still on track for this volume? I think I read in some other thread her article would be pushed back to #23.

Andoran (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Roleplaying Game, Campaign Setting, Modules Subscriber)

Now that #19 is in the mail, I am anxiously awaiting this one. I am assuming that this one is still on track to arrive next week?

Sarenrae's in Pathfinder Adventure Path #20.

Rovagug's in #23.

I loved the art for her on Gods and Magic.. I hope you got a great artist lined up for this article as well.

Great!

Is there going to be a set piece? I really love those, and they've kinda become the norm for each PFAP adventure.

(Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber)

Tim's been cloistered away for a long time writing this. I can't wait to see what his fiendishly fantastic mind devised for us. >:)

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

I see Steve Kenson's writing for this one, and I'm a big fan. Is this his work on any Pathfinder stuff?

Gark the Goblin wrote:

Yes. There will indeed be a set piece in each issue of the Legacy of Fire AP.

Andoran (Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

I just downloaded the pdf and it looks stunning! I really like some of the artwork in this one... now I need to start reading, but which content to start with!?!?

After downloading the pdf, and skimming through it I must say this looks awesome too. I will know more when I read it in depth, but I must say the Legacy of Fire AP is looking to be a great one!

Wait, did #20 ship? I didn't get a notification...

I just recieved my notification about an hour ago. Maybe 2 now. But I am surprised since number 19 just showed up a few days ago and now number 20 is shipping.

Either way I am excited :D

Gah. I'm pending. Come ooooon. lol.

Got mine now... Looks brilliant. Love the maps!

It seems like they might enlarge a little better than the maps from #19, which is good because I play with a virtual tabletop.

Looks like a nice long dungeon crawl! I can't wait, but sadly I might have to for up to a whole year!

Grand Lodge (Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber)

I got my PDF. I am soooo happy. Sooo very happy.

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

Getting the pdf almost allows me to forgot the two missed blog updates!

But seriously, looks like another hit. I was also quite pleased to learn of Wolfgang Baur's contributions, given his high quality talent in general and his work on the Al-Qadim setting.

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

I haven't even received my hardcopy of #19 yet and I'm already reading #20. Woohoo!

I hate you guys soooo much. =P

Gark, you are my new best friend! Yes, there's a Set Piece in this issue and I got to write it. Thanks for the chance to crow about it a little.

The few teasers seen so far look extremely good. Worldworks has done an outstanding job both on texturing detail and 3D model overall result.

Hmmm. I just subscribed a few days ago, and my #19 just shipped yesterday. #20 has not shipped, and in my subscriptions it says #21 is my next issue. :(

Or, to mention some of his more recent stuff, his article in his own magazine on how to properly design Arabian Nights adventures for D&D, and his anthology of Arabian Nights adventures for D&D 3.5 co-written with Jeff Grub. The latter was only accessible to Open Design patrons, and, if anything, I'd like one of them to come on these boards and let us know how Legacy of Fire fares in comparison with the Open Design project. I mean, it can't get better than Wolfgang redesigning Assassin's Mountain, can it?

That said, perhaps some of the Paizo designers could come on board and mention which past D&D works the current adventure path is especially indebted to :) I daresay the name of WB will come up!

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

Fine points, Windjammer. I look forward to a response from some of the muckety-mucks.

Ya know, WB should put something in KQ to support the LoF AP.

Got it! I was hoping for a little more crunchy bits from the Sarenrae article, but it's nice. I may have to pass around my Dawnflower Dervish now that we have an official full article with no prestige class.

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

Tell us more of this Dawnflower Dervish, O Sunny One...

It's just a divine modification to the dervish class. BAB switches to cleric, you don't get any of the feats, but you do get spells every level except for first and you get the ability to cast spontaneous healing spells and domain spells while dancing. It's worked out pretty nicely.

I ended up about 2 levels behind in spells but with a few rounds to charge up I can be pretty devastating. The ability to take 10 on tumbles and balance checks through combat and move and get a full attack have been pretty useful but unless I have two rounds of spells up I'm not nearly as effective as our main fighter. It also means by 4th level I can cast healing spells on my friends or even against undead through my swords. So it keeps the utility of healing in combat while still being able to shell out a little damage.

I have low hitpoints for a front liner, but I have a great AC to help make up for it, which isn't always helpful but usually means I can hold my own for a little longer up front than I would be. I have to say, the current end power is really pale in comparison to the default paizo one so I'd have to change that for Pathfinder and I'm thinking on it.

The guy on the cover reminds me of the Lord High Inquisitor of the Grand Illuminated Order of Therin from the movie "The Gamers: Dorkness Rising."

That would be Sean K. Reynolds if I remember correctly.

Thanks, SG.

And I love the illustration of that guy. He looks out from my iPhone at me all the time. Anybody figure out who he really is?

I hope there's more iPhone wallpaper in our future.
