Let me say that this module is absolutely packed with awesome!!! It would be an awesome value at $10-$12. Getting it for free or even if you have to buy it directly from Paizo for $5 is well worth the money. This was by far the highest quality product available at Free Game Day and that even includes the WotC 4e module with the free miniature.

I was able to get it free, but if I hadn't I would have been in line to purchase one this morning.

Got mine from Eclectic Games in Reading in the UK (Good store and deserve a plug because they stock Pathfinder!) made sure I told them how much postage they'd saved me! ;-) Great freebies this year too. Mind you, it works, cost me two boxes of Star Wars figures for my son!

Anyway, great adventure, thanks to all.

I wish I could have made it, but dammit I had to get a bus to Ascot at 11 and my dearly beloved wouldn't have understood a last second dash across town...

A friend of mine gave me her copy when she picked up her free swag. I am very impressed with the quality work done for a free module. One question though, I noticed that it is part of a series of previous modules. I know the previous module is The Crown of the Kobold King, but are there more? Are any being drafted up for release some time in the future?

Thanks for the great module.

I picked this up on Saturday, and I must say "great work all around". Easily the best product I gathered at the Free RPG day. This one adventure held more flavor and story than most products you have to PAY for. Chalk one up to Paizo and Mr. Logue, thanks to this introduction, I'll be checking out Pathfinder in the near future.

Thanks for the great module.

There are around 15 Pathfinder Modules available here, with many more coming soon (they come out around once a month). They're all stand-alone, Revenge of the Kobold King is the first direct sequel to the best of my knowledge, but Carnival of Tears and Hollow's Last Hope (last year's Free RPG Day module, still available as a free pdf) are also set in Falcon's Hollow, so if you like the RotKK setting those are worth checking out. All the modules are set in the world of Golarion somewhere, so there's a degree of linkage between all the modules (and the Pathfinder Adventure Paths) via the background mythology, easter eggs and so on.

Though a second module will be getting a sequel soon; Entombed With The Pharaohs is being followed by Pact Stone Pyramid in a few months, and this is happening due to popular request on these boards. So if you want to try some of the modules set outside of Falcon's Hollow and Darkmoon Vale, Pharaohs is a great place to start! It's set in Osirion, an Egypt analogue and is a very cleverly written pulp-style adventure.

Welcome to the movement....

Thanks for the link. I didn't think to check for last years offering, sweet! Two free Paizo mods in less than a week!

refresh....now?

ha ha

Just waitin in line like everyone else for this one as I don't wanna miss it. Picked up last year's physical copy off here last year as well. That was quality & from the comments looks like this one will be as well.

Can't wait!!

RM

I'm not even trying to get a physical copy, and I'm still compulsively refreshing because I want to get the PDF so badly.

In the further, if possible, Paizo may want to allow for preorders (still limiting it to one per person/order) so that they'll have an estimate of how many modules they should keep in stock.

Like many others, i have no local gaming store in my area and i'd like to make sure i get a hardcopy of the module.

-Its says currently unavailable. WEEP! I wants it.

I stopped by the same FLGS that made me roll for a random freebie on Saturday to see if they had any leftovers and they still had over half their box of stuff. So they gave me (without any rolling) RotKK, a WotC (booo!) mini and a d10. I don't know where the rest of the Qdice set went, but I'm grateful for anything free.

This module isn't being distributed, except for FreeRPG day and the Paizo site. The print run is done. The number they have is the number they have, regardless of preorders.

There was only just the 1 die so your set

General question-

So what does the mini look like?

Oh man! None of the stores I visited had minis or dice...

I also have a spare copy (because someone who was with me didn't really want it). If anyone would like it, I can mail it to you (contiguous US, please).

Oh, damn. I'm in Canada. ... Now I have to go look up what continguous means and hope it is a synonym for 'borders on'.

I was originally just planning on getting the PDF, but since I was planning on placing a large order anyway and it wouldn't increase the shipping any, I just bought the print version. Now I'm going to get the PDF as well until that arrives.

Hmmm. Looked it up. I see what you mean now. Thanks anyway but I realize the postage to Canada is probably more.

Ordered mine :-) Now I just have to way a couple of weeks to have it physically in my hands.

Is there a direct way to download the PDF? I've got a shopping cart full of stuff I'm not prepared to buy just yet, so to get the PDF, I'd have to empty my shopping cart before downloading.

Nope, it has to be personalized like all the other PDF downloads.

Actually, the PRPG Alpha releases are available on "My Downloads" page, and they require personalizing, but they didn't go into my Shopping Cart.

I like what I'm reading so far. But I do have a question. Does the adventure take place before or after the events of the Carnival of Tears?

Paizo Employee (Assistant Software Developer)

In whatever order you like.

Lazaro wrote:

The PF modules are non-linear (save direct sequels like RotKK) and thus can be run in any order. Technically, though, the events of D1 and E1 both take place in 4707 AR while D1.5 happens a year later. Since the party level between this and Carnival overlaps, I think you'd have to choose between the two or alter one to accommodate a higher level party.

Lazaro wrote:

I'm afraid this takes place right after Crown of the Kobold King.

So it kind of overrided Carnavle of Tears as the CotKK sequel since they are both for 5th level adventurers :(

Im with you and would love to string these adventures together into an adventure path..but thats what Pathfinder is for so I guess that isnt the goal with the individual moduals.

Sweet! Adventure looks awesome, can't wait to run it. My group has already finished Carnival of tears (Hollow's last hope, Crown of the Kobold king and Bloodsworn vale also), so I have to tweak some numbers there. I'm still sure that this will be fairly easy to use as a sequel in my campaign. Thanks Mr. Logue & all!

Osirion (Pathfinder Campaign Setting Charter Superscriber)

I think since RotKK is kind of short (16 pages), it could be completed without the PCs gaining a level, which means you could run CoT afterwards. but I have not done the XP math.

If that is not the case, then I would suggest you run CoT first, then RotKK because it should be easier (or at least faster) to scale the shortest adventure.

Crown was for 2nd level. This is for 5th level. There's evidently some time that passes in between.

There's got to be enough time for Merlokrep to rot into the corpse we see on the cover, as well as be raised and all that. I think a year in game makes sense.

(Pathfinder Campaign Setting Superscriber)

I just got done skimming the pdf copy (what I do anyways if I got the hardcopy coming) & I like what I saw. I mainly wanted to see what Merlokrep Vers 2.0 was gonna look like. Nice work, I can't believe this was a freebie module.

Rock on Paizo!!

(I was the same as some one else on here, even with the Pathfinder discount, I slapped a few more items in the cart before hitting submit order, mainly minis, but minis I've been wanting. (Pfanny, couple Plous now Pathfinder, & the Monkey King!!))

I've got the Paizo offering and a couple of other things at Free RPG Day, but having run the last Free RPG Day Paizo adventure, I am very gung ho to run this new one. I've done a little bit of prep to make it more fun . . . click for images

Werd. Those maps are incredible!

Yes - this is long awaited. Unfortunately it's too low level for the group that took on Merlokrep and defeated him, which are just completing J1, but I have another idea, which will allow us to cross the gap from 3rd to 4th edition and that is to convert the module to 4e and allow the characters to match themselves to this module, which I would set about Lvl 6 in 4th edition. It's short enough for this not to be a chore.

We're all very familiar with the new kobolds, so this would have been an ideal module to be the first you launch as 4th ed, but I guess this isn't Paizo's strategy, disappointingly. I will be struggling to justify buying any new Paizo modules and I have bought every one so far. The conversions really ought to be happening by you experts, not us buyers! Maybe you could offer modules in both 3.5 and 4e?

Ben Parkinson wrote:

This has been adressed in few other threads. Bottom line is that the Game System Licence for 4th edition doesn't allow this. Besides, Pathfinder will be supporting Pathfinder RPG rules in 2009.

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Campaign Setting, Companion, Modules Subscriber)

The experts can't do the conversions with the GSL in active.
