Kobold Quarterly's Exclusive 4th Edition Interview
The sneaky kobolds have asked the designers of the 4th Edition D&D Player’s Handbook a few pointed questions—and gotten the inside scoop!
This interview covers kobold PCs, favorite games, and upcoming releases, plus their suggestions for character conversion from 3rd Edition.
And there's lots of 3rd Edition and edition-neutral articles: the Ecology of the Homunculus, improving your improvisation skills from Nicolas Logue, and the Arch-Devil Jezebel by Paizo’s own James Jacobs.
Are there errors or omissions in this product information? Got corrections? Let us know at

Thanks, Vic! The new issue is 3E-centered but 4E-friendly.
The WotC Designers interview is full of nuggets of the design history, goals, and plans for the future. I'm especially curious how Paizo fans will react to what the Collins, Wyatt, and Heinsoo have to say about the Player's Handbook.

If you have trouble with the link, shoot me an email. The KQ site had some performance issues, and I want to be sure every subscriber got their copy.
Radavel: I think that's a great idea, but for right now, the subscriptions are going through koboldquarterly.com.

Just get the subscription directly from Wolfgang. It's not like KQ isn't worth supporting on its own.
Another great issue, Wolfgang. I like the cover!

Of course, it's an awesome mag. That's why I've been getting it since issue # 1.

After perusing the PDF yesterday I am once again amazed at the usefullness of the material. I can't go into specifics without spoiling some game fun, but one article in particular dovetails with some ideas I was thinking of almost perfectly. Yet another fantastic issue.

Hello Wolfgang,
Excuse me but how many pages for this magazine ? And what is the shipping rate for France if i subscribe to your mag?
Best regards,
Fred MANSON
PS: I think you must do a deal with Paizo to include your title in the ongoing subscription program.

This issue is 68 pages, and shipping to France is $6 per issue. The ongoing subscription program seems like a good one, but for now, I'm offering the regular subscription at koboldquarterly.com.
Naturally, PDF-only subscriptions have free shipping! :)

Wolfgang,
How soon will you announce your plans regarding 4e. I was thinking of subscribing, but being partial to 3.5, I would hate to pay for a subscription and end up with two copies of a 3.5 magazine and two copies of a 4e magazine. If you know what I mean.

Though I like to think that kobolds transcend mere editions (they've been in the game since the white box!), I realize that for edition partisans this is a big deal. And it's a tough question to answer.
I haven't played enough of 4E yet to decide myself, and I haven't seen the GSL yet. So, I'm expecting maybe in a month or so.
However, I really want to hear from readers what they prefer, so there is an Edition Poll available.

Just wanted to say I recently subscribed and received issue 4 promptly in the mail.
Wow.
Great mag! As others have said, it feels very much like reading early Dragon issues when I was kid. I highly recommend subscribing to EVERYONE!
This is a little off topic, but ... does ANYONE out there have an extra copy of issues 1 and / or 2??? Now that I have subscribed, I really want the first two issues! I know the print issues are sold out, but someone has to have copies they want to get rid of ...
Anyone?
Class?
Anyone?

Hello Wolfgang,
this was my favourite issue so far. :-)
It's my favourite source of DMing advice and new campaign ideas.

Wolfgang,
I just subscribed for four issues this morning. I'm already reading through (and re-bookmarking my .pdf of KQ5 . . . due to my anal-retentive nature).
First, thanks for not locking down the bookmarks. (That's a step up on Paizo here! Hint. Hint.)
Second, I am a bit worried that you might go 4e. I'm sticking with Pathfinder. My hope is this - to cover my bases (and get as much of KQ that I missed by having not subscribed earlier) - can you backdate my subscription to allow me a printed copy of 4 (and .pdf) as my starting point? (I'd ask to push it back to 3, but that may be asking a bit much.)
Thanks.
