The Gamers: Dorkness Rising DVD
Paizo Publishing, LLC
The Gamers: Dorkness Rising follows Lodge, Dungeon Master and budding writer, who wants his gaming group to finish their adventure. Unfortunately, they’re more interested in seducing barmaids, mooning their enemies, and setting random villagers on fire. Desperate to rein in his players, Lodge injects two newbies into the fray: a non-player character controlled by Lodge, whom the power gamers immediately distrust, and the rarest gamer of all—a girl. Can the group overcome their bickering to save the kingdom, or will the evil necromancer Mort Kemnon triumph unopposed? A parody of fantasy films and the adventure gaming community, The Gamers: Dorkness Rising is a hilarious romp through the world of sword and sorcery—in this case, a world of exploding peasants, giant house cats, and undead roast turkeys. The trailer can be found at www.the-gamers.com.
Shot in high definition, The Gamers: Dorkness Rising is the most ambitious feature film that Dead Gentlemen Productions has produced to date. It was test screened in 2006 at the Gen Con game fair to standing ovations and standing room only. Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis, creators of the Dragonlance novels & New York Times Bestselling authors, called it "a critical hit! ...Original and funny—a real treat for fans of both fantasy and gaming.”
Special Features:
- Outtakes
- "Dorkness" Screening

Just got this in the mail. I just recently went to Amazon to look at the comments.
There's an error. *All* the comments listed (22 of them) refer to some Red Shoe Diaries dvd.
I'm not sure how to contact Amazon, but someone needs to get this fixed.
Aye, we've contacted them through the basic means listed on their website. At least they've fixed the error about David Duchovny starred in movie. That was... surprising to read. :)
They've fixed the information about the movie now, but not the comments. If anyone finds a way to contact them about fixing it, please do!

Totally off-topic, but the Red Shoe Diaries the movie was pretty good (not the TV show though). Mulder's finance' has killed herself and he's going through her things to give to her parents. He finds her diary and finds out she'd been having an affair the whole time. Most of the movie is flashbacks of her diary entries. Emotional, yet hot.
Meanwhile, I'm really looking forward to seeing The Gamers: Dorkness Rising, but am really getting apprehensive after reading these entries about malfunctioning discs and low availibility. Last month, I bought the RBD: La Familia set and went through three bad copies before I gave up and got my money back. (Off-topic again, this show is excellent. It's like "Friends," but with an actual explanation as to how 20- somethings could have such a large urban apartment.)

The good news is that with thousands of DVDs out the door already, we've only heard reports about a handful with issues. I'm sure that Anthem is duplicating DVDs and shipping them to Paizo as quickly as they safely can.

Have you been able to get it to work on your computer or elsewhere?
The only issue I've had is on my computer (no problem with other DVDs) but I've only played it in an X360 otherwise.

Hi!
I really loved to watch "The Gamers" many times. And i really looking forward to watch "Dorkness Rising" but why is it not Region free like "The Gamers"? Will you bring out a Regioncode 2 Version? If so, when?
Greetings!

Quoting Ben from DG from earlier in this thread:
"Unfortunately, a region free release would lock us out of a number of larger domestic markets, so this will be region 1. But... 1) we can now sell distribution rights in other countries and 2) there are several delightful options available for viewing region-encoded material on your computer or television. We're definitely aware of our international fans and will work hard to make sure that you are able to acquire and watch the movie! (If you know a distributor in your country, why not let them know that most international rights are still available?)"

Hello, everyone! ^_^
I finally got my DVD last week (thanks, Paizo!) and all I can say is, I believe I have never laughed so hard over a single weekend! :) That's what a "The Gamers" movies marathon will do to you. :) Thank you very much, Dead Gentlemen, Anthem and everyone else who had a part in making these movies.
I do have one little complaint, though. See, I'm brazilian but I consider myself proficient enough in english to be able to watch this movie without missing much, but unfortunately my friends are not as proficient, which means they can't (at least for now) enjoy it as much as I did...
So, I wish the DVD had at least english subtitles. It needn't go as far the first Gamers DVD, with latin and what not, but please consider some subtitles for any new versions of the DVD. I even volunteer to translate it to portuguese, for free! :) It would be great if any movie distributor here in Brazil had the will and the guts to release a brazilian version... Ah, well, one can always hope... :)
Anyway, thanks again! And go watch it if you haven't done so yet! :)

Dear Mr. Dobyns,
I'd like to follow-up on the previous poster's question about region codes, will there be sales of the movie with region codes outside the USA and Canada? Namely, Europe, specifically Germany.
Also, are there plans to include subtitles on the DVD for non-English speaking countries? I myself don't have problems with watching programmes in English (or with British or American slang), but some gamers I know usually prefer subtitled versions, especially if the actors are talking fast.
Thanks,
Christina S.

I have looked into this as I was curious, but in the end found it was an exclusive con only thing so there are literally no copies to be had around for the non con attendees like me. Sad sad days....
However you can get the minis here on Paizo.com under the Magnificient Egos section :P (and Luster the wild is 2 figs :P)

We've had it back in stock for a while now, so your retailer should be able to order it from any of our distributors.
I'd be surprised if there isn't a sequel at some point...

Yes, there likely will be a sequel... or three. =D
We have three scripts ready to go (we wouldn't do all three at once, but another company might do one in parallel with us). Our big hold up right now is with the economy being crap, there's very little money to invest in movies. So once that turns around a bit, we'll be off and running.
And I'll keep checking in more regularly now to make sure that Anthem is staying on top of the orders. *whip crack* :)
Cheers,

A great geeky movie but could have used a more aggressive cut.
The gamer melt-down scene was a real mood killer and the walking through half of town dragged on to long.
The "Hide behind the pile of Bards" line is still used in my group today. All the gender switching still sets me to giggling.
