Is there a known reason that Chessex Precision d14s cost 2.5x more than d16. A thrifty consumer would purchase a d16 and ignore rolls above 14.

What is a precision 14 sided die used for?

(Pathfinder Campaign Setting Superscriber)

d14?

ummm, yah.

(kinda like that d30 die that came out :) )

Seems like the main point of it is just to be pretty. Good enough reason for me.

not sure about a 14, but i highly recommend the d5 and d3. have used them both multiple times in low level adventures

I am actually still curious on the answer to this question. And I have now 6 d16s and only 1 d14.

I'd love to have a d5 and d3, for simplicity's sake. But what do people use the d14 and d16 for?

Well, the uses for d16s are endless and so obvious I will dispense of naming them here, and meanwhile the d14 uses are plentiful, I have not decided I want to risk the one I have.

Use for a d14, determining when an event will occur in the next fortnight.

Um... when you can't find your d7, you can roll one of these and divide the result by 2?

The truly thrifty consumer would roll a d20 and ignore rolls above a 14.

The truly thrifty but ultimately not very practical consumer would roll a d00 and ignore rolls above a 14.

And the less thrifty but ultimately very very very insane consumer who doesn't value generating random numbers in a reasonable amount of time, would roll d00000000000000 (yes, that's right, 14 d10s) and ignore rolls above a 14!

Plus, don't forget, when you can't find a d2, you can roll one and divide the result by 7.

Vic, you're tasking me, right? Here I am trying to move product, and I'm not getting paid for it, and he tasks me!

EDIT: @ Sebastian - You need to get together with "The Real Problem" d20 guy.

Weird, the d5 page is totally blank.

That means that the last product in that section recently went permanently out-of-stock. A robot will eventually locate the empty page and take it down, but I gave it a kick so it's gone now.
