Would I be safe in assuming that Second Darkness is going to be 3.5 since it is being released under the OGL instead of the GSL (or is it just wishful thinking)?

Cheliax (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Roleplaying Game, Campaign Setting, Companion, Modules Subscriber)

Same question.

Paizo Employee (Technical Director)

We haven't made that decision yet, but we expect to do so within a few weeks.

She kind of reminds me of Rose from Legend of the Dragoon.

How are you guys at Paizo split on the decision right now out of curiosity? It seems on the boards to be about 40% Wait and See, 35% 3.5/3.75, 25% 4E (total and complete guesstimate)

We don't have enough information to *be* split. Personally speaking, I'm really surprised that there are so many people who are strongly committed one way or the other without having actually seen the rules yet.

Cheliax (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, Adventure Path, Campaign Setting, Companion, Modules Subscriber)

Well we of course now know about this going to be 3.5

But I was really only going to comment about the art. I am guessing this is the real art but it might be a place holder. Despite how silly mini-skirt armor is, i find i actually like the art a lot anyways.

(Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

It's placeholder art. The woman is Sabina Merrin, Queen Ileosa's bodyguard in Curse of the Crimson Throne.

I'd love to see this as a 4e path. Or even dual stated. Or something officialish to convert this to 4e.

Can't be done. GSL is either or. No dual products, or even multiple editions within the same product line. Yay, WotC!

Has this been officially stated yet? I've seen people who heard this as rumor, and people who are afraid of this, but last I had seen, no one had the GSL yet to confirm these facts

It's true. There were rumors that companies would not be allowed to publish anything 3.5 if they wanted to publish 4e material. They've since said that's not the case, but they have said that companies must choose for each product to make them either 4e or 3.5, but not both. For example, since Pathfinder is staying 3.5, WOTC will not allow them to publish a dual line of 4e Pathfinder material. They are, however, allowed to publish a separate line of 4e material.

Perhaps we'll see an upcoming line of 4e Adventure Paths...

Trailseekers, starting with Crispy Sacrifices, followed by The Fleshflay Killings, etc. :P

Seriously, though, in my opinion, WOTC is walking the bleeding knife edge between trying to prevent a flop and still not pissing off their customer base any further.

Sweet jeebus, is that the final cover I see?

(Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

It's not the placeholder cover.

BTW, I love the "tally marks" on the pick handle.

Paizo Employee (Technical Director)

Atrocious wrote:

Indeed!

God I hope the adventure is as cool as the cover art. But I'm not TOO worried... James Jacobs is a wizard at development. :)

Andoran (Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Nice cover! :)

Osirion (Paizo Superscriber, Pathfinder Battles Case Subscriber)

Love the cover. Can't wait to challenge my players with it.

Question: Is "Second Darkness" only 5 chapters, or is the 6th not being shown because it will not come out until 2009?

It's 6 chapters. We announce products quarterly, so it didn't make the cutoff for the last round of announcements.

When's that next quarterly announcement? Should be soon, eh?

Yes, it should!

As cool as Harsk is, that dude would make an awesome iconic ranger.

I don't know who that bad mo fo is, but I would not want to meet him in a dark alley, a pitch black cavern, or even a well lit tavern for that matter. Dude screams out "your mine b-explitive". Can't wait to hear who this dude is.

This cover is not made by Wayne Reynolds. Isn't it?

elnopintan wrote:

Wayne will now be doing the covers of the Pathfinder Companions, and the AP covers will be handled by other artists.

Steve Prescott is the new artist, though I don't know how many covers he's slated to do.

I believe he's signed up for just Second Darkness at the moment.

You'll just have to read the adventure. ;)

Deadly deadly smurf lions.

See if i continue to save the Mike McArtor effigies with that attidude

cant you just hint at something about them?

Dunno. But one's taking off with Valeros in the background. Poor dude. :(

Sweet deadly tentacled smurf lions!!

Again, the art looks great. Can't wait to see the full image.

Great cover! I was shocked to learn about the change of cover artists, but then I got to know that it will be Steve Prescott doing the new AP's covers. So far his work is really great.

On the blue smurf lions: could these cute pets be julajimuses or a Golarion version of these lovely critters?

IDK, this one just sounds so freakin' cool.

David Wickham wrote:

Sure, I'll give you some hints (two months late):

1. They're blue.
2. They kill people.
3. They're frikkin cool.

For more information, see PF14, releasing in September.

I can't wait! ^_^

And that is why all thinking beings of Golarion must unite to destroy them before they take root! :P

Gargamel had little success in this endeavor, and he toiled for years. I'm open to suggestions on how we can bring this about, though, and you can count on my steel to get the job done.

That was Gargamel's problem. He labored alone!

Exponging this infection will take the combined efforts of every sentient being on Golarion!

Does it still have the Cayden Cailean stuff in it? And is it expanded upon from the Second Darkness companion or is it just a reprint of that information?

Pretty sure they'll give it the same SKR treatment that Desna, Lamashtu, Abadar, and Zon-Kuthon got.
