How can anyone possibly paint her runes? Anyone with that much talent is going to get paid so much they could buy a house, in Southern Cal.
You don't paint them, you use a pen and draw them on.
The professional painters at Privateer Press get paid about $8.00/hr, which barely over minimum wage. Those guys have sufficient talent to paint those runes, and they can barely cover rent on a one bedroom in a bad neighborhood. Even the best painters just barely scrape by on their skills. Nobody is getting rich.
Looking forward to this mini, I'll be using it for a character of mine named Aishwara Ramidipoor. Might buy two just to have an actual Seoni as well.

A lot of the great painters at Cool Mini or Not regularly have their work go for several hundred dollars (200-300) per piece, and from the little I've read they're not spending more than 10-15 hours on them.
Not saying that anyone is making a living off of it... these are definitely people who do it as a hobby, or on the side. But the best of the best do charge a good premium for commission work.

Auctions do bring in more than a regular position, but painting for auctions is far from a guaranteed sell. There is a guy currently on CMON selling a prize-winning Inquistor model for $312...and it's been available since Feburary! (And it ook him a lot longer than 15 hors to paint that, I assure you).
And the prices they sell for aren't that great. It's more like an average of $50-$100 for a piece that takes 10 to 15 hours to paint. Now subtract from that the cost of the mini ($20-$30), and you're looking at a range from between $1.30 and $8.00 and hour for the work. and that's not even counting the cost of paints, brushes and other equipment.
It's really not a good way to get rich.

I ordered my Seoni! Should be here soon! ::buzzes with excitement:::
Well, after swearing off wizards, I had a grace period of maybe a year where I didn't pay anything (or virtually anyhting) for minitures, so it's alright.
Have to break out the old set of paints.
Good suggestion about the pens for runes, though. I wouldn't have thought of that myself. Thanks!

I got this in the mail today. Very nice! Very very nice! Even came in a nice little blister! I'll have to talk my FLGS into carrying the line.
I've already removed her staff and replaced it with a sword. It was a breeze, good quality metal and a clean cast made it very easy to do the conversion.
There are a lot of problems ordering miniatures. I'd like to order the right quantity of them to be nicely packed in the same order but that seems very difficult. If I need to make more orders when they are available they will cost more to me.

Just order everything you want in one order. I think they'll hold the available items until the rest comes in.
Well, atleast I can still buy prepainted plastic minis for my D&D and Supers game. I'd love to have one of these but I refuse to ever paint a mini (or pay to have it painted).

Legendary Encounters sure rock.

Why? It can be fun. I agree that painting whole armies is a lot of time - more than someone with a job and roleplaying group usually has - but painting the occasional figure is a nice pastime.
If You don't feel like going the paint route, try buying a pack of the [super]fine-tipped Sharpies and using those. While the results won't look quite as good as if You spent several hours on one with paints, the Sharpie approach looks fairly decent and takes maybe 30 minutes to an hour.
The minis end up with a really unique metalic sheen to them. (Looks great for clothes and equipment, though I'd still recommend something else for the skin-tones.)

That they do. I had my set to order together and they shipped when the Pyros (i think) came back in stock. :)
I got my next order of minis pending until Merisiel gets released.
i want a Merisiel Figure!!! 2 if i can afford the expense :P one for my rogue Illean'dra Alle'shan, the other as mentioned to have an Actual Merisiel :D

At the risk of sounding lame...Where would someone find such a pen?
Any high quality art store. You're looking for very fine point felt pens. Something like the Pentel S360 series. Also, just because it's easier to use a pen than a brush doesn't mean it's easy to do. My hands aren't steady enough for that kind of work.
My understanding is that Reaper will eventually get around to rereleasing all of the previous Crocodile Games miniatures over time. Just not sure when for this mini.

Cool thanks Lisa, I expected the answer to be no. A answer of likely yes but no idea when is a better answer than I expected. :)
