So I see this set on Amazon for 105 bucks (MSRP). Seperatly on Amazon there 23 (3x23=69 dollars). Paizo has them for 95.50 (10% off MSRP) some other site has them for 75 for the set. OMG where is the consistancy? Honestly a few bucks doesnt make a real difference to me, but the 35 dollar difference is enough for a whole other book. For the most part whoever can get the books to me the fastest will prolly get my money. If I can overnight them from Amazon faster then my FLGS then thats how it will have to be.

I can't speak for other vendors, but we're consistently 10% off of the suggested retail price.

The other venders are the ones I'm peturbed aboubt. Unfortunatly I know my FLGS and BandNs will have them at the full 105.00, the Fly by Night online store with them at 75.00 has a shady site and I dont know there delivery patterns, if they take 2 weeks to ship my stuff I might as well pay the extra $ at my FLGS. The real fix action for me would be to get them from Paizo with the PDF :) No waiting on those.

Well, Amazon has a listing for this as well as a deluxe player's handbook, list price $75. So maybe these are deluxe editions? Something like the leatherbound 3.5 core books?

If I were to buy all three books (and I would have to do some REAL soul searching) in its slipcase, I certainly will come here first based on prior customer service I got from Paizo.

It's $66.12 at Amazon.com with free shipping and an additional 5% off for a preorder. When the product was first listed it wasn't price-adjusted yet.
I think Paizo is a fairly decent company too, though I've certainly had my issues with them. But when I'm saving over $30 and I get free shipping, that's not much of a choice for me.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding you correctly, but you only get a PDF of the product for Paizo products that you subscribe to. You wouldn't get a PDF of the core books if you bought them from Paizo as they are a WotC product, not a Paizo product.

Next you'll want it to make you pancakes the morning after your first session.
Given the chance to buy it from my FLGS, I'd have to do that, 'cause I enjoy having a place to game. Still, this is a pretty solid deal.

Earlier this week, we announced a special offering for this set:
Special offer: Customers who preorder the 4th Edition Core Rulebook Collection from paizo.com will receive an unique code that can be redeemed for 25% off a single order on paizo.com, excluding preorders, backorders and subscriptions. This coupon will be emailed to purchasers after the order containing the 4th Edition Core Rulebook Collection has shipped.
We also reduced the price from 10% off MSRP to 20% off.

Hey Vic,
Do you have any idea how long that coupon will be good for?
I only ask because if I order this, I'll need to wait a few months to use it. I'd love to support you guys, plus that 25% would help defray the cost of some Pathfinder goodies I've wanted.

The Pathfinder Advantage does not stack with other subscription or sale discounts.

Vic: Those 10% effectively makes Paizo my default shopping place. You need a division in Europe though, as each package is opened (costs around $100), and then 20% extra tax is added. I can agree with the tax, but the extra opening fee by customs is starting to annoy me.

True, but then they'd have to charge you in pounds or euros, and you'd lose the sweet exchange rate.

Indeed. That would bring me to buy it here instead of at my local store. I really believe in supporting the store (like WarGolem), but let's face it, he carries very little Paizo items (in fact he never carried Pathfinder until I mentioned it and then it was well after the subscription delivered the first order!). Therefore, I feel no remorse buying stuff here as well. The books, however, would only be at the store unless there was something else he could not provide (e.g. fully bookmarked PDF's). Since I play from my laptop rather extensively anyway, the PDF/Print combination is ideal for me. I use the PDF for searching and the Print for reading all the time as is, with my Pathfinder offerings.

The coupon is for people who *preorder* the set, so that deal closes when Wizards ships the books.
The coupon itself will need to be used by the end of October.

I preordered this set on Amazon for $62.97, and that included shipping. I would have preferred to purchase these books from my local hobby store, but I just can't afford it. As much as I love gaming, to be honest it's getting way to expensive. I now buy most of my gaming as PDFs because I just can't afford to shell out $40-$50 for a book.
I really miss the days of the $12 TSR box sets.

dube they are only 86 dollars not 95 dollars.
your supporting a gaming company not amazon.com.
I am contemplating switching my order here for the above reasons.
support gaming stores and paizo and DnD will have a much brighter future.

At Amazon its $59.62 and that is with FREE shipping. So until Paizo gets competitive with their prices I will only purchase exclusives here. Unless I can get it cheaper at my Local Gaming shop. I haven't purchased anything there in a long time. When you can't price things competitively you end up losing a lot of business. When I shop at Amazon.com I get triple points it makes all the more sense to do such.
10%-20% discount coupon for future purchases is moot when you are already almost $30 more expensive.

If small shops matched the pricing of Amazon, they would quickly go out of business. I am assuming that because they can't buy in mega-sized lots like Amazon, Paizo has to pay more for things than Amazon does. Following your suggestion could effectively end up costing them money on every sale.
Just because Amazon came up with creative ways to finance losing buckets of money for years doesn't mean Paizo or local gaming stores can.

But they are losing money because they can't get the sales. People will go to the cheaper of prices if the service is there. I have NEVER had a problem with Amazon.com. I can't say the same thing about Paizo.

Missing out on possible sales is a lot less damaging to a company than selling things for less than they paid for them. It's fine if you like Amazon's service and prices and shop with them for the benefits they bring you. But not matching Amazon's prices is not due to any lack of business acumen on Paizo's part. It's simply not possible.

Ok I understand they can't purchase the sheer volume and get discounts. Ok that is a given.
Then why can you purchase PAIZO stuff on Amazon CHEAPER than what you can get on their own site. Now they already got it cheaper than anyone else and yet it isn't as cheap as other places. Now spin that one.

I can handle this one. Paizo refuses to undersell retailers on their own merchandise (excepting the Pathfinder APs) because to do so would discourage retailers from doing business with them.

Here's a question that I wonder if anyone here might want to take a guess at: Why is the Canadian price for WotC products almost always 15-20% more regardless of the exchange rate? Is it that they don't bother to adjust their prices, don't care, or are there strange costs involved with doing business in Canada?
It sucks that coupon has such a limited shelf life, I was kinda hoping that I could buy this set and then use the coupon to buy the pathfinder RPG later.

Not that I need to, but i'll verify that Paizo has already answered this question several times and said exactly that.
I'll add that their subscription shipping rate, shy of 7 bucks, is a great deal. Between that and the pdfs there is ample reason to order here instead of Amazon.

For what it's worth, it's only 8 cents more expensive than buying all three books separately here. (And it's probably consistently just a few cents more than all 3 no matter the vendor.)

We *should* get them about the same time as other retailers, so add whatever the quoted shipping time is to that. Plus or minus a few days.
(I know that many other industries have their acts together with respect to internet preorders and release dates—CDs, DVDs, and mass-market books, for example—but the RPG industry hasn't worked that sort of thing out yet.)

I would honestly say the most important thing for me would be getting the books as early as possible. I have watched people order new releases from companies like Amazon and it has been hit and miss. My brother and my best friend both ordered something from them and there were days where one had recieved a shipment and the other one sat around waiting.
