So how much of this is reprinted adventures? It seems clear that it will at least include Crown of the Kobold King, but will there be others? Are the druids from Carnival of Tears, or somewhere else, or are they original to this book?

Ooooo... damnit... I hope there is some great stuff in it... Paizo taking all my money.
There will be NO reprinted content in this book. This is a sourcebook that will make gthe various adventures set in this region easier to incorporate into a regional campaign, but it is not itself an adventure book.

No druids in Carnival of Tears. They are original to this book! I doubt a anything from Kobold King or Carnival will be reprinted - rather they will probably be expanded upon and given greater detail.
This product is a guide book to the region in the Pathfinder Chronicles campaign setting called Darkmoon Vale. It will not contain adventure content, but it will contain a great deal of adventure hooks usable in any campaign.

Stop putting books on the schedule! I'm going to end up spending more on Paizo products than I do on rent. Oh wait, I own. It's paid off. I'm single. Carry on, then. More product!
Still seems expensive for a 64 page book. Pathfinder is half as big again and is $2 more expensive.
Paizo in my opinion is getting to be an expensive place to buy stuff.
Believe me, we're doing everything we can to keep costs down without reducing quality, and we just plain can't make a full-color 64-page softcover and price it even a couple of bucks less than this. Part of the reason the price was wrong before was because we had a significant debate about the price of this line, and there are some within the company who feel that, given our costs, this book should be priced at $19.99. Others felt that that this line is important enough that we can trade some our potential profit to give you a better price, and that side won.
Why should we believe you? Oh, yes: Because you have no track record of lying to us. Damn you, Trust! ;-)
I guess it's the full-colour part. Those Sword and Fist-line books Wizards had were twice as big, but they were B/W and on different paper (I assume that the Chronicles stuff will have the same paper as Pathfinder.
If its free in May why cant it be free now and........ no more caffiene for me!!!
Erik Mona Day still rules!!

these guides are more fluff that you can build your campaigns around, - need somewhere to go to get the players ready for one Gamemastery adventure after finishing the last? pull this and the SGL and make one on the fly. I think someone stated something like 10% crunch and the rest fluff(correct me if I'm wrong guys)
The "corruption overcomes efforts on behalf of the good to change a society for the better" is a theme of Falcon's Hollow.
So my question is, does the entire region described in this product push toward stories in which the PCs can't win? Or is that more the theme/mood for that specific adventure set, or for that one town only?
Some of my players have had some very, very negative experiences with adversarial gamemasters who liked to pull that kind of thing. You know, finding ways to make the PC's intended heroics turn out to be the very thing that dooms the community. And I don't like those sorts of stories myself, as a player, so I'm likewise unwilling to run them as a DM.
So I'm not sure if I want this product, but I'm also not sure if my reluctance ends up having nothing to do with the actual substance of this product, which after all is more setting than adventure.
FWIW, I love the idea of fey that aren't fluffy-bunny, sweet-friendly-nature-spirit fey, so that part of this product attracts me. It's the idea that the GM might be encouraged to play screw-the-PCs that has me worried here.
Any clarification on mood and prevalent themes that you're willing to share would be greatly appreciated.

As a person, I too don't like stories in which the good guys can't win. I assure you, there will be lots of stuff in Guide to Darkmoon Vale the PCs can change in positive ways. Falcon's Hollow is a depressing place to be, but the entire vale is not.
Again a really nice cover. I'm guessing it's tha same artist who did the cover for the guide to Korvosa. Anyone know who the artist is? Still gorgeous artwork.
Pity they don't show this off in the blog. The new art for these things often end up slipping past me. I mean they do it for the gamesmastery modules it just seems they don't seem to show pathfinder off. Also said it before but would love to see it as a wallpaper.

Does this perhaps mean that there will be further discussion of the restless evil that is awakening beneath Droskar's Crag? I really want to unleash that concept on my players. (And can you provide us with any hints so I can start scaring the bejeezus out of my players, now?)
I'm currently Hollow's Last Hope as a play-by-post. At the rate we're going, I may have this Guide in hand before we finish (or maybe even get to) the Crown of the Kobold King.

Since the guides are meant to be usable by both GMS and players, there isn't a lot of information about that sort of thing in them. Future modules should speak more to that nameless evil, though... :)

Thanks, Mike! That does make sense. Since you won't tell us what the nameless evil is, I do have one question about Darkmoon Vale though...will its development take into account events from Carnival of Tears?
I'm just not sure I want to use that adventure in my campaign...it's a well-written product, but it may not fit with the themes I'm working on in my campaign. I know that we aren't forced to play any modules you guys put out, but I'm something of a purist when it comes to cool settings (and Golarian definitely fits into that category). Even if the outcomes are positive, the events of Carnival would have a major impact on the people of Falcon's Hollow.

There are mentions of elements from Carnival of Tears but the directive I was given was to make the guide timeless and not dependent on the events of the modules. So the evil fey is mentioned, but the assumption is that the guide occurs before the carnival.

Cool! Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. Yet another example of Paizo's awesome customer relations. I'm really looking forward to reading your work, Mike.

If it follows the style of other Pathfinder Chronicles products (Monsters, Korvosa and Gazetteer ) then it should be mostly fluff, which is great :)
Yes, it is almost all flavor. :)

I'm very excited about this product, as I'm running two separate campaigns set in the Vale. However, I just read today's Paizo Blog and, I noted a minor error in the name of the inn the blog mentions. According to Module TC1, the inn where Sheriff Cage Blunnde can be found is called the "Traveler's Stop Inn." There is mention of another inn, located inside the Arthfell Forest, called the "Spirit of the Wood." I think the names for these two inns have been jumbled up a bit. This probably won't matter to most people, but I thought I should point it out.

It was probably silly of me to even mention it, Mike. Unfortunately, I've become a fan of the Golarion products and have been absorbing as much of the material as I can...which means that I recognized the difference when I saw it. I didn't mean to cast aspersions on your work. As I said, I'm anxious to see it.
