Mmm...Urban adventures...*licks lips*

She is cool looking. Villian or kick butt Iconic ?

This is one of those mock-up covers using existing artwork as placeholders. She's a baddie from Pathfinder 1, and won't actually be appearing in Pathfinder 7.

Ah - still, can't wait to see her in print. Is her red hand a graft?

She's actaully the main bad guy of "Burnt Offerings." Her red hand is not a graft. It's more of a "work in progress."

Actually, my answer should have been "kick-butt villain." I REALLY enjoyed the lead-up to the PCs encountering her character in Pathfinder 1, as players gradually learn that things with her are not as they initially seem—and that that statement becomes more true with every day that passes.

Curse of the Crimson Throne.

Cool.

Consider me hooked. Urban adventures are awesome. An urban, political campaign sounds even more awesome.

Which means that you're using a teaser for AP 2 as a teaser for AP 1. Impressing, does that mean that you've got the feat "Improved Teasing"? ;)

yummie, urban adventures

Another RED ARM...
My players just encountered Jevicca Norr from Ptolus, who also has a red arm (even if it is made of glass...).
Can't wait to see the Pathfinder "Red Arm", but I have to change it to another color if I use it ;)

Oh, and URBAN adventures - yes, yes, yes - gimme more!!!

Pathfinder 1 through to 6 takes the characters from level 1-20 right?
Will number 7 be restarting at 1 again?

Pathfinder #1 launches this August with Paizo's newest Adventure Path, Rise of the Runelords. Runelords is a complete campaign that takes player characters from 1st level to 15th level and possibly beyond.

Oh, and this AP will probably cover levels 1–15. Could go higher or lower. We're still working out those gory details.

Yea I saw that in the thread for Pathfinder 6, but couldnt get a decent internet connection to cancell my query. Thanks for posting it though.

A couple questions:

Do the characters start out at 1st level? The description doesn't say.

From a timeline standpoint, are these events before, after, during Pathfinder #1-6, or does it matter?

Danke!

Sorry, I don't know where the posts are, but it was noted by the Paizo gang that these events take place after Rise of the Runelords (I think a year or two). It was also indicated that the levels would be similar to Rise of the Runelords (approximately 1st to 15th or 16th).

Fan request for the cover art to this path's player's guide:
How about it making it look like a secret door, or perhaps an interesting (non-blank) wall, instead of a book? A treasure-box for the regalia of Korvosa or similar could also be cool. I'd suggest an homage to the 2nd 1e DMG cover, but you guys did that in Three Faces of Evil.

Does this continue from Rise of the Runelords in that PC's should begin this AP at around level 15, or is this a new 1-3rd level adventure that's merely set in the same world?

(It seems this question might have been answered before, and I apologize if it has been. I can't find, though, where it has been answered.)

Scroll up. Read the posts.

Thank you. I apologize again. For some reason, I just didn't see these posts that answered my question.

So, is there any way I can trade my "transition" issues of Pathfinder 1-6 to Pathfinder 7-12 ????

Since the other campaign will end with issue six, will issue seven start characters off at level 1, or continue where the other campaign left off?

We start a new campaign with #7 for 1st level characters.

The second AP will start at first level, IIRC.

Edit: see? I did remember correctly.

I love otyughs. I always imagine them lurking beneath the cities sulking because they're not allowed to go to the opera or the dances or whatever, just because they're amazingly ugly and eat sewage. I mean, who can really blame them for hating humans?

Straight up. Almost makes me want to start the OLF.

Spoiler:
Otyugh Liberation Front, of course! :P

Also, otyughs are quite accomplished at the waltz.

Man I really hope that we can bring the lvl 15+ characters from the first chapter over to this chapter. If not I'm gonna have three guys on my hands who are going to be pretty bummed out that there going to have to start new characters over for this second chapter. I just don't see the point in getting the first set of character up to lvl 15 then starting all over again with the new chapter...I was under the impression that when I first subscribed to Pathfinder, the game would advance character into the epic lvls.

I hope your joking. If not, I'm sorry for the assumption and if so, I totally get it. ;0

Well, you kind of have to stop somewhere, right? D&D doesn't really support 50th level characters. Do want Pathfinder to just keep exponentially rising in levels?

"I can't wait for Pathfinder #37 so that I can finally Lvl up my Fighter 3/Bard 78/ Rogue 2,345!"

That rogue gets 875d6 Sneak Attack.

You are gimping your character, you should get a 1173d6 sneak attack. I'd also drop the Bard levels because Bard suck and switch Fighter for the UA variant where you can get another +2d6 to your sneak attack, and you really need some Wizard levels. I'd also consider a ...

Joking aside, if Paizo does convert to 4.0, I'm curious how successful WotC will be at expanding the "sweet spot" and making the game more playable at all levels. I would like to see at least one AP going from start comfortable through Epic levels. However I wouldn't expect this to be the norm.

I see where your coming from and no I didn't expect the characters to advance up to lvl 50...which was a pretty dumb exaggeration to begin with. In any case, D&D does however support epic lvl characters. I just don't see why Pathfinder would stop the character advancement just when its about to get really good.

DemonXero wrote:

It has been mentioned on many occassions that at least the first two APs will go from approximately 1-15th. Above that the game gets a bit imbalanced and is far more difficult to design interesting/balanced adventures. Also a lot more people play lower and mid level games than high level ones, so it would not be economically viable to continue the AP which would cause the subscriber base to slowly dimisnish with each passing chapter.

That being said, you can always design adventures to continue the storyline.

I must have missed the occasions on when they stated that the first two AP's are from lvl 1-15. Had I seen them, I might have reconsidered my subscription to Pathfinder. And yea I could design an new adventure to continue the storyline, however I subscribed to Pathfinder because of the fact that I lack the creativity to create my own storyline to begin with.

What your saying makes perfect sense, but it just doesn't lift my spirits in any way.

James has hinted on these very messageboards on a few occasions that we haven't seen the end of the Runelords. I'm betting some paths will accommodate or even BEGIN in high level play, just not the first couple. May want to tell your players to let those badass 15th levelers cool their heels for just a bit, and start up a new campaign, but those 15th level heroes will see play again soon I'm betting.

Hell, maybe a gamemastery module for 15th level would be of utility to these high-hitting sluggers who finished an AP and were drooling for more(?) Just a brainstorm.

also, I know a few other people had the same issue you did, maybe you all can start a thread after PF#6 and brainstorm an expansion. Though you may not feel that creative, there are many great minds around here.

Thanks a lot Nicolas! Now that bit of news gives me some hope!

Heathansson: I hadn't even thought of that, I'll look into it...might take some work but if the characters from Runelords don't actually make it into a later AP I could always try to convert one of the 15+ modules into the Pathfinder setting. Anyone have any recommendations?

Good idea! Thanks Bray.

While I'm loving RotRL ths far, I'm salivating over the new path.
Urban adventures have long been a favorite of mine.

I too dig on the urban adventure feel!

Also, Heathy: That's a great idea. A GM followup to Rise of the Runelords is a great compromise for people who want the action to continue. Maybe we'll see something like that someday soon.

Yeah, perhaps even a trilogy of connected GameMastery modules to finish out the high teens and get the characters to 20. :) That would actually be pretty cool.

...because all good things in fantasy must be in trilogy form :P

I'm so looking forward to this next AP. The only shortcoming is that I'll have to covert it into WFRP2, but that should be the fun part! The hard part will be having to wait until March to get my hands on the first chapter.

Yeah, dude, I totally overexaggerate. It's like my power and my curse. :}

I'm totally with you on wanting to see some high level modules, I just like the fact that Pathfinder starts fresh every time. I think it's good to stretch your legs and let some campaigns have an ending, ya know?

But maybe starting a Pathfinder at level 5 and going up to 20, that might be pretty cool sauce.

That's absolutely a possibility, and if we DO something like this, chances are good that we'll construct the campaign so that a previous Adventure Path or set of GameMastery modules would work perfect as a lead-in to it.

Consider this consumer interest!

Right now I am teetering on becoming a Gamemastery subscriber...

The decidedly crimson final cover has now been posted!

Nice cover, I just find it too reddish.

Anyway, you had to see my face when noticing that the writer for this adventure is Nicolas Logue...

Spoiler:
I think that a puppy just died for that face (in a good way)

I on the other hand think it looks great. I like that it really stands out from both AP1 and I think all other RPG books I have.

And it rocks! The pdfs will also be known as "Curse of the crimson cover" for my inkjet printer, but I really don't care too much.

The first two months of this brand new 2008 are loaded with awesome Paizo goodness...

Guys i like the new cover.

Will all the covers of this AP be red?

Wow, awesome cover design!

Andoran (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 16)

The real cover is pretty swanky! I like the red cover, goes nicely thematically with the Crimson Throne adventure. And while we'd seen the Iconic, and the WAR splash page before, seeing it all together is still very cool, and brings home the fact that this is shipping out right around the corner.
