I still don't think I've read a response to this. Is this map folio with the "Pathfinder Chronicles" logo on iot automatically part of my Pathfinder Chronicles subscription?

-DM Jeff

Check here. And the answer is yes. :)

Truth be told, the poster maps alone are enough to make me cheerful about this thing.

I can't help it. The walls of my lair tend to end up decorated in maps of all kinds. Right now, glancing to my left, I have the maps of Sasserine and Scuttlecove, the layout of the Sea Wyvern, a Lands of Mystery map, the Greyhawk poster map of the Flanaess, the 'Map of the Realms' from the FR setting (which I bought, having been a fan of it back in the days of 2e when I didn't have enough cash to keep up with what they were doing to it, before realizing that it wasn't the place I remembered at all...), the eight-panel poster that we got to commemorate the Paizo Era of Dragon and Dungeon, the FFXII poster map (which, frankly, rather leaves something to be desired; I will no doubt be using some of my other maps to fill that space now that I have some more - perhaps the Kalamar setting map, or the one that came with the Elder Scrolls IV GotY box...), and the post-AoW map of Cauldron.

Maps like these are just one of those things that I hoard.

I posted this on another thread concerning the map folios, but wanted to bring it up again because I'm persistant and annoying that way. I don't want to reopen the question of what should be included in the Pathfinder chronicles subscription, but I'm not entirely happy that this is part of that package. The value of these maps is substantially less if you have access to a pdf copy (which is included in the subscription) and can already print out the maps by themselves. I feel like I'm being sold the exact same product twice, and that doesn't make me happy. I would be more interested in this product if it contained something new or at least some additional components, like a package of stat blocks for use with the various modules, handouts, or, better yet, some spells/monsters/etc that were left on the cutting room floor. As it stands, there just isn't much value for me in this product.

That being said, it's entirely possible I'm alone in this regards because many other people responded to say they like the maps and that they fill a need that the pdfs don't. I'm not against the product per se, I'm just against having it be part of the Chronicles subscription. Or, if there is a strong demand to include something like this in the subscription, I'd really like to see some amount of original content to make this product worth purchasing.

Thanks,
Sebastian

Poster Maps < $14.99

Here's the thing - I can suck it up and deal with this map folio if everyone's gung ho. It's not my cup of tea, I'm not tremendously happy, and I'd prefer something new with the product I essentially own already. Heck, if the pdf files are layered to allow the keys to be stripped out, that would help. But I'm wary of the Chronicles subscription being used to send out products with low production costs and high margins that might not stand on their own if they were not bundled into a subscription. Not to disparage the fine people at Paizo, who's work I greatly respect and enjoy, but it seems like the only costs born in producing this product are the printing costs.

I don't want to see products that are just recycled from Pathfinder and repackaged as something new. I don't want to see an art folio with a poster map using the same art as in Pathfinder 1-6. I don't want to see "Enemies of the RotRL" which merely reprints the stats and art for the bad guys in a pamphlet. I doubt that's the direction Paizo will go, but I want to say that if it is, I probably will not continue to be a subscriber.

Edit: Also, apparently I am incapable of understanding that posting something on an earlier page in the same thread is not posting on a different thread. Apologies for posting the same little rant twice.

I understand your point completely, S. It just sounded from you post that there was nothing but reprinted maps in this product and I wanted to make sure that it was clear that the 2 poster maps are something "new" that has been unavailabe up till now.

Plus, this threads on its third page - I believe that allows you to post the same rant twice, it's long enough...

You're right - the poster maps are new, and a lot of people dig them, and that's a fair point. I guess I'm looking for new content because that's primarily what I purchase from Paizo. The fact that the content is presented with beautiful art, a great layout, and high quality maps are ancillary elements of my purchasing decision.

Two things have encouraged me to order this. First off, the poster maps. Second, the cost of ink. I have been printing out almost every map as I go along to reference and that colored ink ain't cheap.

So did this hit the warehouse today?

It did arrive—the in-stock status should change tomorrow morning as we begin processing subscriptions.

Out of curiosity, where did you guy get those poster maps made? They are very nice quality, and I would really love to be able to get some of my homegrown world maps printed in this format.

They're printed by the same people who print the book, in China. (You can't match quality like that without professional printing presses, I'm afraid....)

The Pathfinder Advantage discount went into effect for orders placed after March 10. Your Map Folio was ordered on January 27 (and fulfilled on February 26), so the discount wasn't in effect.
