Behind the Spells: Magic Missile (OGL) PDF
Tricky Owlbear Publishing
Behind the Spells is a pdf series which examines those spells from the SRD that are listed time and again on character sheets throughout gaming.
These are the spells which, if on your PC's class list, will be taken as soon as possible and include such quintessential favorites as magic missile and fireball. Each pdf in this series examines the spellcaster who created the spell, one or more of the spell's hidden capabilities, and possible variants for the spell.

I see this series has finally hit the virtual shelves of paizo. I'm interested in hearing any thoughts on these pdfs once folks start reading them. Magic Missile was the first issue which is why I started this thread with that one. The series needn't be read in any particular order though. If you've ever been interested in the creators behind your favorite PHB spells and in new ways to use these old workhorse spells, then "Behind the Spells" is for you!

Is this a trick question, Mr Boyd ;-)
But to reply, I have a handful of them (before Paizo got them so I can't review them). Some I like much better than others. Overall, I would buy more...

Heh, no trick question, DF. I'm looking for feedback as I'm planning on relaunching the series under my own company name--Tricky Owlbear (coming soon). As with anything, feedback is useful for improving the quality of products. We're also gearing up a "Behind the Monsters" line, among other things. So, you liked some more than others...care to elaborate? :)

The workhorse spell I am always twisted by as a Game Master is "Charm Person" since most players seem to feel it should be very powerful and I feel it is weak and difficult to master.
