Why are we being charged shipping & handling for a magazine subscrition? You can't tell me it costs nearly $4 a magazine to ship. That's how much Amazon gives me to ship a book. It should either be a magazine subscription or just a product. Also, consider having annual subscriptions if you are going to continue it as a magazine idea.
It is rather small for a book at $4 shipping. If that is the cost, fine. The content is worth it. It just seems odd.

note that the $4 rate is the bound paper rate which takes 3-10 business days (4-15 calender days if there are no holidays in the shipping time, I believe) for a faster mail service you pay more just like any other product. but because it is better quality, thicker than a magazine, and not shrink wrapped before mailing, it does not qualify for magazine rates(I believe).
It doesn't qualify for the periodical rate because it is not a periodical (The postal service actually cares about things like that.)
Pathfinder is shipped using the Bound Printed Matter rate. I don't know why it is not shipped Media Mail. This may be because Media Mail prohibits advertising, and Paizo likes to put ads for upcoming products and catalogs in the package.
I think it doesn't go Media Mail because Media Mail is the slowest, "we'll get it to you some time" shipping method possible, and the odds of getting your stuff in one piece are abysmal.

Also, they changed the rates last year on this and it is fairly expensive now (compared to what it used to be). Another advantage of how they ship them now is they can track them with media mail they just close their eyes and throw and hope they hit the target.
Since I am new to this whole Pathfinder on-going subscription. It will ship automatically each month, correct? And I agree, its high shipping for a magazine. I dont care what the contents are. The weight is what the postal service cares about. It media mail.

The USPS most assuredly cares about content as well as weight. Pathfinder does not qualify for either Periodicals or Media Mail rates. It does qualify for Bound Printed Matter postage. If you'd like to read more about postage requirements for varying mail classes, the information you seek is here.
I can also assure you that we went spend a lot of time and effort understanding the USPS requirements and designing our shipping code and processes to ensure that we're offering the least expensive shipping option that we qualify for.
I find myself in a position where I must, regretably, cancel my month-to-month subs for Pathfinder and GameMastery Modules. However... I don't see an option in my account settings to do that!! What gives? Since this is a recurring payment there needs to be a way to cancel the subscription!
Am I just missing it? Or has it not been implemented?
well i think that pathfinder is incredible! its just that im bein charged 31$ per each magazine! its a rip off if u ask me!
Haladin,
I reviewed your subscriptions to figure out why you're paying that price. A subscription to Pathfinder is 30% off the cover price ($13.99) plus shipping and handling (usually about $4.00). So a subscription to Pathfinder is usually about $17.99 a month.
The reason you are being charged $31.23 for your subscription shipments is that you are signed up for both Pathfinder and GameMastery Modules. The $31.23 breaks down to $13.99 for Pathfinder plus $12.99 for the GameMastery Module plus $4.25 shipping and handling. With your subscription to each, you get a free PDF of each book in addition to the printed book itself.
So it's not $31 for each magazine, but $31 for two books and two PDFs.
Wow... talk about fantastic customer service! Thank you very much Cosmo.

I'm wondering about the subscriber's priviledge of -15% on what we buy here.
Will we be able to get that same discount with what we buy at Gencon Indy?
I was planning on buying many things from you there, mainly those things that don't have subs and which would probably end up having quite high shipping prices (t-shirts, item cards, the Beta PF RPG book, etc.). When I think of it, though, that would mean I would not get sub's discount, so I guess I wouldn't be saving that much in the end.
This is why I'm asking, because it would be wonderful to be able to get the subscriber's discount at Gencon and save a lot on shipping, especialy for internationals like myself.
Please? (Insert cutest Wall-E eyes here)
PS: I'm taking for granted you'll be selling stuff at Gencon...
Yes! We offered the Pathfinder Advantage to subscribers shopping at our Origins booth, and it will also be available for Adventure Path subscribers shopping at our Gen Con booth.
(Though you may want to buy those T-shirts ahead of time... a few of the sizes are almost gone already.)

That is great news :) Here I was thinking I was having a new idea and was ready to talk you into it. As always, you are reading the minds of your customers!
So, how do you go about identifying us? Secret handshake? With a couple Golarion trivia? Using biometrics identification sytem linked to the info you gathered on us (insert conspiration theory here)?

hi - I just signed up for the pathfinder subscription and ordered a hard copy of the first issue as well. I was about to start scanning the pictures for handouts and realized I should probably ask if the subscription also includes PDF's of back issues. Thanks!
You're not the first to express these sentiments, but one of the benefits of subscribing is getting the pdf's. If back issues were available for free to subscribers, then anyone could subscribe one month and get the benefits of having supported Paizo monthly for however long previously. The upside is that, as a current subscriber, you'll get 15% off the pdf purchases with the subscriber discount.

Totaly understand and support the logic. Obviously, having both the soft copy and the hard copy is a benefit to subscribers, so it would seem natural that when they buy hard copy back issues they should have the same experience as people who happened to subscribe earlier. I can see penalizing late subscribers with the cost of the hard copy but it seems harsh not to give them the soft copy with it. It kinda sucks for subscribers who have to shell out almost 34 bucks (after discount) to get a back issue that has all the features of the current issues they get each month for $17.
As subscribers, we're not asking to be able to download every copy, just the ones we buy in hard copy. In fact, you could still force non-subscribers to buy both. That would force people who are trying to scam the system still have to buy the issues at least.
I want to start a subscription, but I don't want to start it in the current run, I'd like my first issue to be Pathfinder #13—Second Darkness Chapter 1: "Shadow in the Sky" (OGL) .

Is that possible?
Subscribe anytime after #12 ships but before #14 ships and you'll have the option to start with #13.
EDIT: #12 and #13 ship simultaneously, so anytime between #13 shipping and #14 shipping. Basically, mid to late august.

I would subscribe now. Get the discounts on as many issues as possible, plus the awesome Pathfinder Advantage. JOIN US!
Seriously, it is a good deal, but do what is right for you financially. I just feel like you might be thinking the same way I was until I subscribed.
No plans. We are not going to do this for the foreseeable future, and by foreseeable I mean for at least a couple of years. And even then we have no plans.

So now that the Players' Guide has grow larger and become part of the Pathfinder Companion line, does that mean we won't be receiving a free copy at the start of each Adventure Path with our subscription?

Any Idea when the option to select starting a Sub with "Souls for the Smuggler's Shiv" will occur?
Due to major delays with the Australian distributor, Walrus and Carpenter, getting your stuff in (as an example, I still have not received Adventurer's Armoury despite having pre-ordered it through my FLGS way before it was due) I'm going to restart one or two of my more pressing Subs and want to get this one rolling ASAP.
