Wow! I mean... Wow! This is it. THE last one. Is the cover image available in the issue as an unlabeled image? It's stunning! (and poignant, too :( )

Cheliax (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber)

I love it how the raptor is looking, screw this, i'm going home. :)

I like how the full assemblage of heroes is still so small compared to the big D. Nigh-epic level heroes or not, they're still small potatoes to Demogorgon!

I was hoping that my boy Wayne Reynolds was painting the cover for this last Issue! And he did an amazing job!!! It looks to be all about the Savage Tide, I don't see Info about any other adventures Inside? That's gonna piss some people off but I actually will love It, that's all I have really been paying attention to this past year anyway. Well can't wait to get my hands on It!

Ah, the poor paladin, once again getting smacked around!

One of the best things about the artwork in the Age of Worms issues was the repeated portrayals of the iconic paladin in varying states of distress. As I understand it, this was a not-so-subtle reference to Abelaird, one of the staffer's characters who died horribly when playtesting the first AoW module.

As my first character (many, many years ago) was a paladin, I've always had a soft spot for them. Seeing the paladin repeatedly abused in Dungeon's artwork was a bit hard for me to take at first, but gradually I grew to appreciate the humor in it. Besides, he kept showing up in issue after issue alongside his companions, which meant (I liked to think) that he'd somehow survived his latest thrashing, taking damage for the team, just like a champion of good should.

And if I remember correctly, he got his due in the artwork of the very last AoW issue, standing tall before a very nasty foe. :)

Maybe I'll get lucky and this will be delivered uber-quickly like Dragon 358.... Or maybe it would be better if it took a little while longer.

What an absolutely gorgeous final cover. It is appropriate that the final issue of Dungeon be covered by all the Paizo iconics facing down perhaps the most iconic villain in D&D. The Prince of Demons himself. I can't wait to see what the Savage Tide endgame has in store for us. That issue can't get into my greedy hands soon enough.

What a great cover. It describes what is best about this hobby. A group of friends getting together for a day of excitement and adventure only to run into a Demon Prince. Typical..

Are they using lighning against a Demon? Tsk tsk. As high level PCs they should know that you need to use Sonic attacks to splatt Tanar'ri.

:p

Please make this into an art print. I would love to hang right next to my Dungeon 124 cover.

Amazing, incredible, eye-popping cover! WAR delivers as usual. After seeing that cover I'm rooting for Demo now, and I'm the DM!

I can't believe the era has come to an end.

As a reader since issue #1, I still feel kicked in the gut by Wizards decision to pull DUNGEON.

Hopefully one day it will rise again once Wizards realizes their mistake.

Is it a bigger issue for the $11 price?

Andoran (Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Incredible :) Question for the people though. Is the iconic in the bottom right a ranger or a druid? If a ranger it would cover the full class spread but that would have meant the first set of iconics didn't have a full divine caster. Just wondering :)

I believe it is 128 pgs instead of 96

For those of us who's subscriptions expired, and we're doing the issue by issue thing, will 150 ship today or sometime later?

Don't worry. There are two other adventures in there. One of them is an update of the original adventure from the blue box or something. I don't know the specifics, for I wasn't even born back in those days.

Whichever adventure had Bargle in it. That's the one.

Actually that was the red box for those of us dinosaurs who played back in the day with those sets. It was the first of the box sets with the blue box as number two, a sort of teal green box as number 3 and a black box as number 4. Those were the days. I can't wait to see what nastiness Demo has in store in this adventure. We have his CR 33 stats from DoI. I suspect that is the high end the characters can get with at least 1 to 2 other stat blocks depending on how successful the characters are in weakening him before hand.

Any chance of getting desktop wallpaper of this cover art? Say, in standard sizes plus a tasty widescreen-size format? This would be awesome as a background...

Just sayin'...

:-)

Want this cover as a print! :O

*sniffles a bit*

We've got the contents of the issue up on the page for #150 now; there's certainly more than Savage Tide in this issue. I'm just happy I was able to do this one with as few cover lines as it has, to be honest.

As for the iconics, yes, all 11 classes are represented. The iconic in the bottom right is indeed a ranger; she's one of the oldest of our iconics, in fact. She's been around since issue #114, when Wayne first illustrated her. In fact, the only "iconic" that's missing from that cover is the ranger's cougar animal companion (the druid's raptor and the wizard's quasit familiar are there). I assume the cougar's been eaten by Demogorgon already...

Anyway, this issue is 132 pages long and comes with a poster-sized map of mystery by Chris West that shows an entire game world with all the maps of mystery he's ever done for Dungeon located on the world map.

They are! Mostly because lightning looks so cool. Of course... they're all about 20th level by that point too... I'm sure the sorcerer has some sort of crazy exalted feat or something that turns his lightning bolt into holy damage.

Or maybe not. Demogorgon doesn't seem to worried about the lightning, after all...

That cover is beautiful.

Ongoing month-to-month subscriptions ship from the printer at the same time as all of the other subs.

A Truly Epic Cover!
I cant wait until this reaches my door!!

**I LOVE THE ARROW IN DEMOGORGON**

Make the cover into someting like~
* A poster like the Age of Worms poster
or
* A desktop

Awesome cover, of course. But who's the "Pince of Demons" in the write-up? :)

Can't wait to get this. And then the sadness will well up in me the next month...and each month after that, for a while :(

What in the nine hells? Out of stock already?! I didn't even have time to get in my order! Please dear god tell me you are printing more as we speak!

I'm not sure what you're talking about—it says "Prince." ( At least, it does now that I've corrected it! Thanks for the catch.)

Atrocious wrote:

I doubt it is already sold out. It isn't even available for purchase yet as it didn't even ship to subscribers til today. I do hope that there are more available later in the month though as I intend to buy an extra back copy of all the Savate Tide issues to have since the probability of a hardcover seems low. Either way, this being the final issue will be a collectors item, so I may have to go the ebay rout to get a second copy beyond what I will get from my subscription. Time will tell.

A few things that stand out to me about that cover. 1) Minimal intrusion on the art - most non-art elements are at the edges. 2) The background is a sunset - symbolically ending the days of Dungeon. 3) Not two, not four, but ALL the Dungeon iconics.

Greg Vaughn behind the wheel of the last installment of the Savage Tide? How many more characters am I going to run through now?!

:)

"Its gonna be a slaughter!"
'That's the spirit!'
"Not their slaughter! OUR slaughter!!"

oh man!!!!!

bittersweet for me, last issue in a long run but one hell of cover from Wayne.

can't wait to have this one in my hands.

Also if I were to preorder this, this week, when would it ship out?

thanks Paizo for the last few years of both magazines, they were something I really looked forward to each month, no matter how I got them, wether it was subscrip or store bought or online purchases.

ON TO PATHFINDER!!!!!!

Okay, I was just curious because I didn't see an update for it in my account history, but there is a $5.19 charge on my credit card, which I'm going to assume is this issue.

Wow, that put things in perspective - I was not only born before those days but was playing D&D then as well. I also had to get up and walk over to the TV if I wanted to change the channel (all 5 of them) and had to be careful not to scratch my vinal LPs or they would snap crackle and skip when the needle lowered on them.

'Scuse me while I go find my hearing aid ...

Picture it, Sicily, 1932...

(Yeah, I just made a Golden Girls reference, I'm that awesome.)

We got our first super cool look at the paladin in Dungeon 117, so cool, in fact, that when Erik started up his Age of Worms game here at the office I decided, "Cool! I'm going to play HIM!" Abelard Albrecht Volker, paladin of Heironeous, Noble McDaringdude (a bit of a stretch for me, but welcome to roleplaying). Being an undead-themed campaign it seemed like a good idea at the time. But you know what paladins do? Especially at low level?

THEY DIE!

Crunch, trample, skitter, dead, dead, dead. Adventure #1, Whispering Cairn, beetle swarm, DEAD.

"Make for the rope dear friends! I'll hold off these foul vermin! Gahhhahaha! They're behind my eyes!!!!"

So yeah. It didn't work out too well. Though, to this day (like 2 years later) our group is still called Abelard's Band, both out of respect, and as a lesson against low AC and attempting to fight monsters you can't hurt.

Ever since, Abelard, the shiny paladin, has been the whipping boy of monsters from nightmare beasts to, now, Demogorgon. James could give you a list of tragic paladin deaths the length of my arm... cause he's a jerk and abuses the power of the art order.

So, a moment of silence for paladin Abelard Albrecht Volker. At least with Dungeon's final issue he is now at rest. Walk with Heironeous brave prince.

I remember reading a letter of the editor (I think) containing the story about the death of Abelard, but I didn't remember it was you playing the paladin. My deepest regrets. But it is a great story with the naming of the band!

F. Wesley Schneider wrote:

I heard a rumour that he's going to be reincarnated as the fifth Pathfinder Iconic so he can be killed all over again (on every cover). Alebeard Axebreath Klover the dwarf Paladin. Didn't you get that memo Wes?

The iconics have been incredible. I agree totally that seeing them in different situations issue by issue has been a delight. I will dearly miss them...

Wouldn't it be great if a comic or graphic novel were released featuring them? I'd buy it.
