Towering pyramids rise from the sands, speaking of the glory of kings long gone. Three mighty pharaohs, kings and gods, rule over a land divided-- over nations hovering on the brink of war. Priests of mighty deities guide the lives of peasants and nobles alike, as all struggle to make the most of the fertile lands that line the mighty river Yor, whose rushing waters are at once the symbol and the source of all life. But all around, the desert grows, encroaching nearer each day to the last remaining refuge of a once mighty civilization.

Egyptian Adventures allows you to play the world's most popular roleplaying game in the sands of Hamunaptra, a new fantasy setting inspired by the myths, legends, and culture of Ancient Egypt. Neither the Egyptian feel nor the playability of the game has been sacrificed. The classes and races that populate the lands of Hamunaptra are still recognizable as your own favorites, yet re-imagined to convey the feel of a time of pharaohs under the shadow of war.

This boxed set includes three separate books, each of which presents vital setting information. From the classes, races, feats, and magic of Hamunaptra, to a complete gazetteer of the continent of Khemti and a book of GM-only secrets, this boxed set contains all you'll need to explore the world of Hamunaptra. Battle foul beasts of the desert, excavate the curse-warded tombs of dynasties past, sabotage and spy upon the armies of rival nations, master ancient magics, or simply attempt to solve the riddle of the expanding Red Land before the desert overtakes the last, dwindling bastions of civilization.

This is an age of legend. Make it your own.

I cannot recommend this enough. Anyone looking for an ancient Egyptian-styled setting or something to add to one they already have would be well-served by checking this out.

You gnoll lovers out there(you know who you are) are in for a treat too.

I swear these sales are starting to hurt me.

Another nice Egypt flavoured recommendation is "Necropolis" by Gary Gygax himself (r.i.p.), published by Necromancer Games.

It's 3e, published in 2002 and probably hard to get in print. But there are some sites offering the pdf version (e.g. here, unfortunately Paizo doesn't seem to offer pdfs of Necromancer Games).

Cheers,
Günther

I really want to get my hands on a copy of this product. It never showed up in my FLGS. For some reason, Green Ronin products haven't done very well here in Edmonton, except for Mutants & Masterminds.

We have it for sale here at a big discount. If I remember correctly, you can get it for $5! While supplies last, of course. :)

Hmm should have ordered another couple copies for storage. I have one on PDF one in my 'undelivered Christmas Gifts pile' and another still in shrink wrap.

I bought it a while ago in paizos sale, and haven´t read it thoroughly yet, so my impressions might change. That´s the reason I post it here and not as a review, and I might be in error in some parts.

It contains three books, and a color map. The three books are a sort of "egyptian d20" in a nutshell, the first being a players handbook of sorts, with PC races (a kind of gnoll included), classes, which are base classes refitted to the setting, skills, feats and spells. The races and classes get egyptian names for the flavor. The second book seems to be a gazetteer, I hope with a lot of adventure ideas, having only browsed it to date. The third is a DM´s guide, with prestige classes, magic items and monsters. The map is basically a map of Egypt with fancy new names given to the real-world places.

Overall, the authors strive to create a feeling for the setting by using a lot of egyptian names and themes in the three books, while staying close to the normal rules to make it easily usable. This is quite difficult given the exotic topic, and from browsing the book, they accomplish what they strive for quite good. Maybe the players handbook could have done with a little less reprinting of common rule items (e.g. for the classes), and the usage of fanciful new names on a map of Egypt seems not convincing to me (that is easily changed, however), but overall it is a good, solid product achieving its aims. I would recommend it for all those interested in an egyptian setting from what I´ve seen so far.

I will use a lot of crunch and ideas from Hamunaptra for my Osirion Campaign.
For the sale price it is a MUST BUY for all who like egyptian flavor.

Another Item I can only recommend is Necromancers "Necropolis". Written by EGG himself this is a mini campaign setting with a deadly adventure.

With some modification, it would work very well in an alternate Osirion.

You could refluff Hamunaptra's gnoll race as a sort of subrace of "purified" gnolls serving Pharasma. No end of drama between them and Lamashtu's faithful over that.

Thinking about it further, if you want an Osirion that has the other races more integrated into the culture, it's well worth checking out.

Seriously guys, it's an awesome box if you're into Egyptian fantasy.

I also purchased this at the sale price. Although I have not received it as of yet (shipping out with Augusts subscriptions), for 5 bucks, I felt it was worth it for spells and magic items my players might not have ever seen before.

I picked this up recently and enjoyed my initial leaf-through. I would scoop this up if you're interested in Egyptian adventures. I see this combining easily for one's home game in Orsirion in Golarion, or meshing well with Gary Gygax's Necropolis—I belive that has a lot of Egyptian mythos and mileu-related greatness in it.

And, for $5.00 you really cannot go wrong with this one. The writing is very smart, and the material is very rich. (Again, only if you already want Egyptian material, and if so - here it is.)

Lovely stuff and solid design. Useful for playing in Mulhorrand, Osirion, or any Egyptian flavored campaign setting. Since I run a 3.5 / Pathfinder based Planescape game I found it extremely useful.

I purchased this boxed set as well as the Osirion PDF for a home-brew Pathfinder campaign.

This setting is AMAZING! Extremely well-written and packed with useful ideas that you can cherry pick into your own setting of choice.

*nods* You might want to do some searching on the Arcana Evolved races in Golarion, to fit the Apnu in. I use 'em, but they're Gnolls who've turned away from Lamashtu and been 'redeemed'

I'm amazed they still have some of these left. It's a great product, and $5 is a steal. Hell, the cover art by James Ryman for the boxed set is worth that.

They would make an excellent counterpoint to the Unchosen (PF #20).

Further, it's a boxed set, similar in size to the ole TSR boxes. It contains 3 soft cover source books and a large, colour, fold-out map.

I've just finished rescaling the Father of Terror great sphinx from this book to be used as a mount for the main baddie in my PF campaign ... this thing is pure evil ... in a fun way! =P

I'm also using the Anpur as captains for units of gnolls for the major mass combat battle which will be taking place (using the mass combat system from the Trojan War campaign setting by Green Ronin) as well as the Sobekhi. And I'm only scratching the surface of what's possible using the wealth of useful source material found in this set!!!

Mikaze,

Flyintiefling avatar

Seriously, people. Five bucks for a boxed set.

Five bucks for an Ancient Egypt-themed boxed set.

That is solid maths.
