i know that alot of people enjoy their dice trays, but has anyone ever wanted more? one thats a little or a lot dfferent from the other guys? Dwarvensweatshoppe.com has the answer for that. we are making custom trays, with a variety of shapes, and colors to choose from. go check it out.

I wanted to buy a dice tray for obvious reasons but I realized it's just half a wooden box with felt adhered to the bottom. I went to Michael's, bought an untreated, unpainted, empty, lidded box and some self-adhering felt; unscrewed the hinges to the box; and placed the cut pieces of the felt inside the top and bottom halves of the box. For a fraction of the cost, I made two square dice trays.

The person mentioning the color of the tray vs pictured, it should be noted that the photo is a black and white photo.

Is there anything on the bottom of these to prevent marring of the table surface (e.g. Felt feet)? We are getting a nice new table and I want to do all I can to protect it's finish, including the prevention of dings from d20s or the dice tray.

Unfortunately neither I, nor anyone in the warehouse, has never handled one of these first-hand (they come in a box). But I can say that using a dice tray (of any type), whether set directly on a table or upon a piece of cloth/paper/whatever if needed, will keep the table's surface much better than rolling dice directly upon the table. Especially if you're rolling something like this. Not sure if that helps you or not...

Thanks,
cos

I have the 10" Wood Dice Tray from Koplow Games, and I purchased it from Paizo this year, so I think it would be the same as they would be shipping now.

And it does have felt on the bottom of it so that the table surface on which it is placed will not be scratched! Hope this helps.

Actually, the bottom of the dice tray has felt on it as well. Only the very outside edges on the bottom of the tray are not covered by this felt. As long as you set the tray down flat and even (using a hand on either side would work best), it shouldn't mar or scratch the surface of your wood table.

try masterworkeq.com there you will find a tray you may take to consider.

If this isn't the exact tray I got from my local gaming shop, then it is the twin. It has a green felt on the inside, and a thin felt bottom. I've had mine for more then 10 years now. Only issue I ever really had was the glue holding the thing together. I dropped it once, and some of the sizes popped loose. Some carpenters glue and finishing nails put it right as rain. I had to replace the felt lining after about a year. Overall it has held up rather well, and was well worth it in the long run.
