I just got word an hour ago that my services will no longer be needed by my (former) employer. As a result, I am tightening the belt in anticipation of the troubles to come. As a result, please suspend all my subscriptions except my Pathfinder Adventure Path subscription. I hope things will turn around quickly for me and I can reinstate them within the allowed period of suspension, but if I can not I will let you know to cancel them.

Ah crap. I'm so sorry.
What do you do, Yoda?

Sorry to hear that yoda. I hope it serves as an open door to attempt something else you've thought about trying.
Sorry, still a little bitter. I have a degree in film & television production and have been working in camera and lighting equipment rental for about 4 years but want to transition more into film appreciation education and archiving.

Darn... Welcome to the club my friend, and I hope you don't stay on it for long...

At the moment, I sit at home and look for work...

Ah, ok. I was hoping in a field in which I knew some people in the NY area, but it seems I'm useless to you, except for moral support. :(
Well, of course you're bitter. What suck ass timing.

x2 to the above -- being out of work at any time just blows in the extreme. For what it's worth, I will be sending positive thoughts your way...
I am sorry Yoda, as a Long Time Unemployed, allow me to make just one suggestion (I know you are getting all kinds of advice and information at this time so please just allow me this one tidbit) Get away from the advice...not forever, just for a day or two (more if needed) and don't forget to get away again in the future if they drive you bonkers. Also, you know yourself better than anyone else, if you need to go somewhere, go somewhere, if you need to just hide from the world at home, do that. Just be you with no commitments for a couple days.
And if anyone asks...you already sent your resume to [insert whatever inane place they suggest here] three times and they didn't reply!!!
Good luck man. I would say, let the force be with you but Yoda ate your head. You don't get anymore forceful than that.
I know how you feel. I been laid off since Easter. It's given me the chance to go back to school this fall to become an electrician. If going back to school is an option go to local unemployment place and ask for the WIA program. Basically if you want to learn a new job or trade ie nursing, hvac, and others. The government will pay for your school and collect unemployment. I am getting 2830 from WIA and 4830 from other grants.
Yoda,
I realize all the best wishes won't make the anger go away but I have been their too. Your going to run the whole gambit of emotins because men identify with their jobs so much and losing one is very painful even if it was a crap job it was still yours.
My sympathies for your loss and hope you get through this quickly.
One helpful job hint, don't be afraid to crossover feilds. I went from on call repair to fiber optics to wirless networking to helpdesk and finally landed a steady job after spotty employment. Also dont turn down one or two day jobs because it shows your keeping your skills sharp.
Good luck.
