I am more than a bit irritated receiving my books with badly crimped corners. I dont know if its because Paizo stuffs 4 books in one cardboard envelope or if the US Postal Service is playing envelope football with my stuff, but lately I have been getting really badly crimped corners and some tiny tears in my Pathfinder and GameMastery stuff.
It there a way you guys can ship stuff in a more spacious envelope or something? I understand you guys try to reduce shipping costs to make customers happy, but I want my stuff in decent condition when it arrives.
Thanks for listening to my rant and I appreciate everything you guys do.

hpw was the box it came in? I ask because I've noticed that the corners are usually the worst when the monthly shipment does not fully fill the folder, and thus the books have room to shift around. When the mailers were pageed, m books come in pristine.
I do suggest cutting some of the mailer envelope away to remove cramped books from it, otherwise there is a chance that the corner will catch on a spot where the tear away part did not correctly open (i've had this happen before- luckily it was a none subscription order)

On all outside appearances the cardboard envelope looks fine....stuffed by fine. I have seen this on my last three orders (the one before this was really bad I had to request a new copy of one of the books). I almost think i would rather have one of those big yellow envelopes in instead of the cardboard envelope. Now granted its just crimpy corners and making them look bad. I can still read the module, although the corners my be crimped so tight I have trouble turning a page, but still useable. Its just disappointing.

I had a couple similar months about a year ago. Now everything comes just fine. Seems to just be luck, or perhaps the specific mail carrier.
The one time they stuffed it in my tiny (4" square) mail box.. GRrrrr

I will chime in on this one too. My stuff is coming crimped and dern near crimped. The corners look like the package is near opening.
I must say that Paizo envelopes are on the cheap.
Amazon does it correct by having cardboard edges that extend further than the actual wrapped product. If there are any hits taken, the cardboard takes the shock and the stuff inside is untarnished. The days of soft envelopes are wearing...thin.

I get my stuff shipped all the way to Australia and I have only encoutered this on a couple of occasions and never to the extent you are talking about. My delivery guy even stuffs it in the mailbox that is too thin and that doesn't do anything but score the cardboard envelope.
I would be thinking it is a combination of envelope and delivery company, but given my lack of problems I would be leaning towards the delivery company having the lion's share of the blame.

I have to say craig it is the packing.
I will say out of a few orders I received that Paizo resent or stored credited me. I suggested that the next time they send card board envolpe to put a cardboard sheet in for support. They did in the last one and NO problems.
I have gotten ALOT of stuff off ebay and I always insist on packing the corners of the box/envolope... it protects them.

Just had this on my last order though not to the extent you described. Having said that this is the first time that has happened and I've been a subscriber since Pathfinder 1. It is a bit of a shame but luckily my crimps weren't to bad and I should be able to iron them out.

I get this stuff shipped to China. 4/16 of my Pathfinders have a bent corner and one book out of a bunch.
I really think this goes down to shippers. It's not fair to expect Paizo to put everything in a big box with reinforcements, cuz that's what you'd have to do to keep some mail companies from wrecking this stuff.

My point is, when they ship 4 books in one cardboard envelope, it always (well at least the last 3 shipments) comes to me damaged. Only one of those books, came so messed up that I asked for a replacement. I guess what I am getting at, is if they are going to ship 4 books like that, maybe use a little bigger envelope...

I have to say that I've had this happen quit a bit too. The month when two issues of Pathfinder were crammed into one envelope, both books had smashed corners. I've just chocked it up to the fact that the US Postal Service is careless in handling packages. I can't afford to pay for better shipping, so I just deal with it. Bent or smashed corners on my books do bother me though. :(

Same problems here.
It really is down to Canada Post for me. They took my Latest pathfinder # 17 and folded it around the other standard envelopes in my mail box. Sure it fit nicely with out any mail sticking out of my mail box but it sucks for my now bent book. If Paizo could put a DO NOT BEND on the packaging that would be great it MIGHT help depending on the attitude of the postie.
My Brother decided way back to stop getting them via post and just go to a store when and if he wants one. Of course that means he rarely gets them now so in effect Canada Post is the reason my bro doesn't buy Pathfinder any more. He had a sting of about 5 in a row with damage and the buster was One of his Pathfinders came and it was actually torn all the way through like something heavy object edge was pushed down on it and imprinted the cover and tore every page about an in in the cover..
If the supply chain is not reliable and some people want UN-damaged product, going to a hobby store is better.

I used to have this problem with my orders. Once the mail-carrier actually broke the spine on one of my Pathfinders. I switched to UPS shipping. They put it in a sturdy cardboard box that physically can't be stuffed in a mailbox. It costs a little extra, but it's worth it to have the books in perfect condition.

I gotta say that I too find the money spent on UPS to be well worth it. I was having the same issues until I switched.

I am internation buyer and I just received this months subsciption items plus replacements for last month's items.
The item arrived in a narrow cardboard box stuffed with heaps and heaps of foam packing beans. As a result no damage or foldering and generally the books are in mint condition.
Maybe it was the number of books to be sent but this is the best way to send books, particularly overseas.

In my experience, putting DO NOT BEND or FRAGILE on an item sent through the US Post office is like waving a red flag in front of a bull--it's a challenge to see how much damage they can do to your item. When I moved from California to Washington I packed all my dishes in a compartmentalized shipping box, padded everything properly, and put FRAGILE stickers all over it. The box arrived crushed, partially torn open, and every single item inside was broken.
Sometimes I think writing THE POST OFFICE SUCKS on a box would improve the service I get from USPS shipping....

I wonder if stamping "I support the American Postal Workers Union" on the package would have a positive effect.

When I was a active superscriber I was with USPS first but after being on the tail end of their 10 to 15 days shipping rate (which I didn't understand due to I'm only a south of Paizo, a state away), I switched over to UPS & didn't regret the extra shipping cost. It was always nice to see the brown truck outside each month with a USPS priority sized UPS box full of minty fresh Paizo products.
Plus I knew once the item went out (usually Tues or Weds, I had my items 3 or 5(due to the weekend) days.

I worked as a packer for a big Canadian courier company when I was putting myself through University. Putting fragile or this way up or anything else like that means diddly squat.
I did not go out of my way to trash such boxes but I did not pay any attention to such labels either. Reality is I had to pack an 18 wheeler front to back 8 feet high and I had 6-7 hours to do it. Sometimes the boxes would be coming to me slowly but usually they were pouring in faster then I could stack them.
It very quickly becomes apparent that ones supervisor does not care too much about how careful you are with the boxes but he cares a whole f%~@ of a lot if your not getting the truck packed and stuff is pouring out of the front of it. He cares even more if your working so slowly that the belt in the warehouse has to be stopped so you can catch up because that means not just that this 18 wheeler is not being packed but that the other seven 18 wheelers that are fed from this belt can't receive their packages either and now everyone is being delayed...oh and it means HIS boss is going to come down to see what the hell the hold up is.
If I did not want my supervisor making my life miserable (and he had lots of ways to do that) then I needed to not be his problem worker, I needed to stay under his radar and that meant packing my truck fast - it certianly did not mean stopping to read whatever the heck someone had chosen to scrawl on their box. Hence if some one happened to pack their fragile china into a box it was just bad luck if that one became the bottom of a stack that was going to have six more boxes weighing a total of 400 lbs on top of it - I did not know what was in the box and I did not care to know, not with my truck on the verge of overflowing and a real need to make my tired and aching body work even faster for fear that if I get backed up any more thats going to have real repercussions like they are going to have to stop the belt. So in this circumstance if some box is sticking out a few inches too far at the bottom of a stack...I'm wearing steal toed boots, I can fix that problem and tacking the stuff down and restacking this properly is NOT an option thats on the table.
Bottom line for the loaders of your packages is that the guys humping the boxes are not going out of their way to trash your stuff, but they are not paying any attention to anything you might choose to write on it either. If you want your stuff treated with kid gloves you pay the extra to make it 'valuable content' (it had some acronym when I was working but I no longer remember what it was). That stuff we packed last and by this point the belts running nearly empty, mostly your just standing around waiting for the shift to end. The wall of boxes is down to usually around 3 feet high and this stuff gets put on top. Its handled with much more care mainly because it could be two minutes before I get another box so I got all eternity to do the job right and make sure nothing gets damaged.

I advocate the addition of the "Hand-delivered by erinyes" shipping option. It insures that your product will arrive intact and unmolested, with good security and eye candy to boot. Naturally, it will be a bit more expensive than USPS or UPS (those Chelaxian Devilbinders have to make a living, you know?), but such is the price of quality.

we, followers of Iomedae, can't follow this new policy... but wewould pay the same fee for celestials-hand-delivered packages

Erynies are lawful, just get them to sign a contract stating they won't harm anyone on the way of delivery (including both you and the sender) and you should be fine.
