I helped a friend and his wife move into their new home today (they closed on it about mid-week). Nice house overall, plus an apple tree (with tons of apples on it), a pear tree (with a good number of pears), a peach tree (peaches there, ayup) and a small garden getting ready to explode with tomatoes, anaheim peppers, pole beans and yellow squash ... mmmmm.

Anaheim ... I miss Cerebus the Aardvark. I never get a chance to read him anymore.

Home ownership is a wonderful thing. Everyone's gotto go someplace.
Speaking of places, have you ever noticed that in naming bars, super secret lairs/bases or projects, it's always very cool to list a noun (usually a place, object or organization) followed by a number?
eg's
Area 51
District 9
Club 54
The 4900
Sector 7
The Ten Who Are Taken
I just realized that Watto from Phantom Menace sounds almost exactly like former PM of Canada Jean Chrétien. Or, at least, my impressions of both do.
Can one be OT in a threadjack game?
I recently found out the price difference between American Spirit loose tobacco at my corner convenience store and the tobacco shop a few miles away is about $3, with the convenience store being the cheaper of the two. Crazy.

Stasria Echrom
Stasria Echrom ('Mistress of the third key' as she likes to style herself) is (or rather was) the renegade gold-elf cleric of Auril who featured in the 'Mettle and magic on the snowfield' picture in the 'Shadow of Arfel' series. Since she used a ring of three wishes (two wishes left) to merge herself with a mortally injured fiend in 3175 N.Y., shortly after being evacuated from Gulmunhav (3173 N.Y.) she has been first an alu-fiend, and then finally a full (Toril-native) succubus. She has picked up some wizardry to enhance her original clerical calling and is exceptionally dangerous. She spends much of her time wandering Faerûn, causing mischief in the name of her goddess and keeping out of the way of Lady Speladrin Kaltharûnír and most surviving Netherese liches.
In the early second century Dale Reckoning Stasria made the mistake of referring to Lady Speladrin Kaltharûnír in the present tense, as a Netherese Arcanist and as still being 'very much alive'. Since this was in a (then) major seat of learning, it annoyed Lady Kaltharûnír greatly and resulted in the 'Styx Portal' incident when somehow (the surviving sages and wizards were never exactly able to piece together how, having lost their memories permanently of the past month) a portal to the lower planes opened in the college inundating the scholars and records with stygian waters and with several highly aggressive styx drakes. Very shortly afterwards Lady Kaltharûnír caught up with and severely chastised Stasria, the latter having departed the college mere minutes before the portal incident and thus having avoided by the narrowest of margins a bath of technically distinctly forgettable nature. As she left Stasria, Lady Kaltharûnír pointed out that Stasria could: 'either start behaving like an honourary Netherese citizen or be treated as a security risk'. Stasria has been distinctly discreet on Netherese matters regarding Lady Speladrin Kaltharûnír ever since, and deliberately obfuscatory (without actually lying) on the specific topic of Speladrin the Netherese arcanist (and 'minor footnote in Netherese history').
Stasria is a cleric 14 [Auril]/wizard 5/mystic theurge 6. Five of the mystic theurge levels are epic. She generally wanders around in her 'original' gold-elf shape, and is immediately recognisable to anyone paying attention to her who has studied 'Mettle and magic in the snowfield' or a good copy of it - recognisable, that is, as in an immediate resemblence is obvious; it does not follow that a viewer will automatically assume that they are one and the same person (especally given that Stasria will be wearing 'modern' clothes and may not even obviously be a cleric of Auril) though an intelligent viewer may entertain the idea that there could be some sort of family relationship. (Although less likely, even given the long lifespans of elves, the older the viewer believes the picture that they have seen to be.)...
Pshaw! I am a frustrated would-be writer for the FR, thwarted fatally in my ambitions by the edition change. That was the merest extract from my files.... ;)
They spoke with the lady,
The lady of light,
First star of the realm's greatest order,
They asked her to tell them, if tell them she could,
Of whether the realm's last hold still stood,
And if leave she would grant them to find it?
So, I'm thinking I may have the flu... and this particular strain came from a friend's trip to Texas. I'm going to get a checkup later today because I can (yay military benefits) and maybe they'll be able to tell if it is H1N1. I don't have the highest confidence in my clinic, though (yay military physicians). :P

A friend told me that the onerous and tedious tasks that one must go through to get it actually lend value to the Venomhide Ravasaur mount once it has been obtained. I disagree. I find that the mount has value to me already and it is the fact that I want it lends it the value. The P.I.T.A. daily quests are nothing more than a gauge of how much I want it. Or... to put it another way... Blizz wants to know if I will put up with an annoying time-sink to get this particular thing.
I'm annoyed because I will.
But I do not need to know how much I want it. I know I want it. I have a Beast Mastery hunter whose main pet id a Devilsaur. I bought the little dinosaur non-combat pet. I have a theme going and I enjoy it. But due to this arbitrary "value-addition", I have to wait at least 20 days before I can mount up.
