They have been very naughty puppies.

Please, proceed.

From this point on if anyone mentions Nazis, etc in any thread I shall post this

I thought "desexing" was some crazy new position.

Then I Googled it.

Fortunately I can't be desexed twice.

Yap!

The Godwin Gestapo actually has a quite effective filter that prevents me from watching Youtube at work. But I just watched it at home. I lul'd. Well played, sir.

May I suggest that whenever one of us GODWINS a thread, we report it here? We could even turn it into a sort of leaderboard for who has Godwinned the most threads first. Threads in which YOU invoked the Nazis, etc. don't count. No getting around that with sockpuppetry, either.

A good idea.

I am glad that you thought the video was suitable.
The line "Are we the baddies?" makes me cry laughing evrytime I hear it.

Edit: I wonder if that scene actually happened...

No, that's Steve Jobs.
I always thought it was Glenn Beck.

Actually, according to Stephen King, Glenn Beck is only Satan's mentally challenged younger brother.

I think it's hilarious that Glenn still makes money off that insult... As the old adage goes, there's no such thing as bad publicity. I just wish he'd go back to the old pre-Obama-bashing Glenn, when he was actually funny. Kind of like I wish Jon Stewart would go back to the old pre-Bush-bashing Jon, when he was actually funny.

Hmm, it's almost like there's something about deep-seated political bitterness that makes a funny person ... not funny ... Crazy, right?

I will be singing it all night now though.

Wait, do we report our Godwin or not? Do we have to retro-actively report? I do not think I could find all those threads.

Maybe we should have to wear some kind of symbol when we do…you know…like a purple square on our shirt or something.

Oops. :)

Let me clarify. When somebody else makes the reference, and YOU call Godwin on it, let us know about it here! No fair invoking the Nazis just so you can call Godwin on yourself.

P.S. I disputably Godwinned the Princess Bride thread.

Oooooh! I read that as we were to call ourselves out.

You're all worse than hitler for bringing up Godwins's law.

Oh, is this a religious thread? I agree, God wins even in the past tense.

IMO Hitler Youth references should be bonus points.

Speaking of Evil, in an ironic twist, Godwinned only when Hitler was mentioned in reference to Godwin's Law itself.

Speaking of Evil thread again, maybe...
I think they are on to us.
A reference to "those Nuremburg guys" does that count?

I'd give you credit for that.

Guilty as charged.

Lovecraft's Law: As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of invoking one of Lovecraft's Great Old Ones approaches 1.

Shall we start another thread?

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, Adventure Path, Campaign Setting, Companion, Battles Case, GameMastery Maps Subscriber)

Technically, as a discussion continues, the probability of mentioning anything approaches 1. Monkeys and typewriters, etc. We could start a thread in which we point out references to radioactive poodle worshippers who subsist entirely on a diet of purple oranges, but it'd be a mighty quiet discussion. Lovecraft references are abundant enough that it might work, though. May I counterpropose a thread in which we point out when some weeaboo makes a Japanese culture reference?

Serious Discussion in an Absurd Thread:
IMO, the amusing thing about Godwin's Law is that Nazi references are usually an attempt by a moral relativist to make a point of absolute morality, because we all agree that Nazis are Evil. A moral absolutist need not resort to consensus. I wonder how people would use Lovecraft's Law: to make the comparison with something that's beyond the grasp of mortals, uncaring, beyond such silly moral paradigms as good and evil, quite willing to eat you, and which would drive you insane if you ever saw it as it truly is? The only comparison I can think of is the government :p

Charlie Bell wrote:

Actually, you made the point I was trying to accomplish. Sly grin.

Tricksy poodle, weaving a trap for me with my own words!!

Healthcare and my mental block when it comes to the right wing take. (inevitably)

Way too many to cite.

I thought anyone expressing Right-wing thought was immediately open to being called a Nazi. In fact, let's just do away with left/right and re-label them Hippie/Nazi. It would save a lot of time.

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, Adventure Path, Campaign Setting, Companion, Battles Case, GameMastery Maps Subscriber)

That'd be Commie/Nazi. Or Socialist/Syndicalist if you're AMiB. But not if you're BT.

EDIT: Calling somebody a Nazi is trite and tired. Likewise calling somebody a Communist. But calling somebody a Commie is just funny. Let it roll off your tongue a couple times just to try it out. Commie. Commie, Commie, Commie.

Good point. Commie has a better bite than Hippie.

It's all weak sauce.

Yeah, some things are worth waiting the few extra seconds for, even in the era of lightning-speed internet.
