The crabs are cool and the eye is just creepy!

Only for a little while. And then the PC becomes a 'Stalker'. I'm still trying to figure out what a stalker would look like. They are kind of an alien ... scratch that ... an aberration infested slave to the aberrant eye. The aberrant eye gains their knowledge and they get to throw their all to symmetrical flesh on any adventures that enter the colony.

I really love all the drawings. These are beautiful. The images in my head were scary but these are better.

a friend insist that half their language would be telepatic, and the other so soft that it doesn't compels emotions, because theyfeathers akready do it... so merchans of the race will have to explain how they feel to humans and others :)

but aye...it would be cool to see :)

The way I've been drawing them, they're almost totally encased in armor, so it shouldn't be a problem. The male Sheddim is done, and I've got the linework for the female almost finished.

I should be posting them together on DeviantArt within the next day or so.

Okay, I'm going to be totally greedy and propose one more lifeform in the aberrant flesh colony. Players in my PbPs read no further:

Spoiler:

Orifice

Upon the wall beside you is a small, fleshy intrusion resembling a parched and puckered pair of lips. Before you can look more closely, the orifice widens to a gaping maw large enough to swallow a man whole. What was once solid stone is now a fleshy hole. Then, the tentacles appear.

It's hard to describe this one without using the words 'a+#$+%#'. Basically, the orifice looks like an a%$**@# on a wall. Then it opens up to about the size of a medium sized creature and tries to grab you with its tentacles. It permanently exercises a spell like ability similar to passwall. It lives in the wall and can pull people through walls and let them out on the other side. Often over top of a pit.

So, being a biologist and all, how does it eat then?

Spoiler:
If it's simply a creature that grabs prey and pulls it through to the other side (often into a pit), how is it getting nutrition? Not from its victims, since it only passes those through the wall.

I expected sharp teeth and the stomach on the other side of the wall!

Timitius wrote:

maybe it

Spoiler:
feasts on magic essences as something passes through it..the strongest enhancement on the person is gone when they emerge on the other side

Spoiler:
its a parasit... so its infect every cell, descomposes it, divides it and creates another thing... just like cancer and other sickness, or like the creepy things in Dead Space!

For sustenance it depends on another member of the aberrant flesh colony ...

Spoiler:

The Bilepit.
The colony uses stone stairwells, pits, wells, and recessed rooms to provide the shape for bile pits. Orifices often open up on top of a bilepit dropping living creatures into it. Living creatures take damage from the bile (on top of falling damage, of course). Long, grey-greenish vine-like arteries connect the bilepit to other non-mobile parts of the colony. Mobile parts of the colony, including the free floating aberrant eyes, lap at the pits daily for sustenance.

So, in essence, you're right ... there is a stomach on the other side of the wall. It doesn't have teeth though.

Also, Montalve is right too. The aberrant flesh colony often colonizes other fleshy beings and transforms them into its own flesh. An aberrant eye can grow out of any creature with an eyeball, though the colony usually selects an intelligent creature for this. Stalkercrabs take over humanoids and turns them into zombie like guards.

As for stealing a magic item, neat idea as the colony is attracted to certain abjuration and transmutation magic and usually forms in places where this type of magic has been made permanent and lasted for hundreds of years. I haven't thought of how the colony would react to new abjuration or transmutation magic items. I imagine that would act like a big bowl of cappuccino for the colony. I pity the guy who carries the bag of holding into the colony.

This is hot. Also sticky and gross!

I had a Tzimisce character in a LARP (shut up) who had used animalism to summon and beach a whale, which he then dismantled with his fleshcrafting powers and spread throughout his manor house. It's stomach was an open pit under his torture / experimentation room. It's mad twitching eyes served were embedded in the leathery hide covering the door to his inner sanctum, and the entire creature was blood bound / animalism controlled to recognize him and open the door as he arrived (using muscles that he'd moved to that area for that reason, originally the flippers, now really strong door-openers and closers). It's (enslaved and totally insane) brain lived in the basement, and it's nervous system ran through the various areas along with thick cables of blood vessels to bring nutrients to the still living parts he was using.

This sounds totally similar to me, with the various functions of a single organic creature (digestion, reproduction, etc.) separated out and made into a series of seperate encounters.
