2. No Thai! for dinner
3. Spent 5 hours+ with new gamers for the group and it looks like Shackled City is coming sooner than I may have thought. Yay!

I quit my job yesterday! For those lucky people who have never had to quit a job that they liked but in which they couldn't stand the management this may not seem like a good thig but it is. After the 14th I'll never have to listen to those idiots telling me how to do things which they haven't a clue how to do. Its a liberating experience.

I've been there, dude. The best was when I took my boss into the storage room to "show him something" and then blocked the door and explained why he didn't deserve to hold his position.

Yup, it's always great to fire your boss....

I'm strongly tempted to something like that but I do want reasonably good refrences. I am however going to leave a brain shaped jello thing in a container of pickle juice in the walk-in!

I was fortunate that when I left that job I had NO NEED EVER for any reference from that employer, and in fact I was better off distancing myself from them.

The funny thing is, I met the guy a few times years later and he was happy to see me, and never bore any ill will for what I had said; in fact I think he respected it and kind of shook him into doing his job a little differently. It also turned out that he had spoken highly of me to several others.

Nevertheless, I would never do that again.

Today i went to the North Pole, where everyday was Christmas. My nieces were happy to go and saw santa, luckily it was not crowed. Now everyone in my family is tired.

Yep, I've done that, although there were other factors involved too. It's bittersweet - a pity to leave the job and the people you liked and respected, but a relief to be away from the jerks who ran the joint. What do you / what was your job do by the way Arctaris?

Really liked the new gamers we're starting Shackled City with. Always nice to make new friends.
Happy 4 year old. He is currently playing in the dirt with the contruction toys from the top of his cake. Everything about the birthday party went well yesterday. He even fell asleep on the way home, and he never sleeps in the car. He didn't even wake up when we got home just went straight to bed. He even yelled at me because I made him wake up enough to use the toilet :)
No more major events to plan for for a few months. I can finally get back to all that stuff that's been piling up on my to-do list.
Friends who call me just to check up on me and make sure I'm okay when they haven't heard from me in a few days.

Andoran Dragonmann,

Had a great time taking the boys (just 2 and almost 4) to Toys'R'Expensive yesterday to spend the birthday money they "earned" at their party Saturday.

A party which came off without any noticable hitches, good timess were had by all.

And yeah, made sure we got 2 of those foam-rubber swords, unfortunately my kid swings so hard parrying simply results in the tip smacking me in the face as his blade bends...

Now to find time (and the money) to spend my brithday money...

I'm off for a week. Going to PA, and then coming back to a 4th of july bbq, then seeing the transformers movie, then spending the rest of the week moving stuff into and out of my fiancee's apartment, with the weekend spent relaxing and writing and checking up on the messageboards. Aah...Time off.

Art Out Loud on Saturday was a lot of fun. I'm always really impressed with how nice a lot of the artists I admire really are. The event was cool, but going out for Indian food and a drink afterwards was even better. Got to drive up there and back with Dan, who's still pushing me to do more Fantasy/Sci-fi stuff.

Starting to get back to work after taking too much time off after graduation. Got a small comics collaboration to start work on with a friend from school (involving some of our own Mothman's North American relatives), a Wheel of Time calendar contest (even though I've grown to really dislike the books, it's a shot at something and I've read like six of them) and stuff I want to make for my own D&D campaign.

May have a date soon, but it's one of those things where it might be a date, might just be hanging out with a friend. Whatever, I'm just going to have fun.

Still unemployed: every day is like Saturday!

I GOT MY BBT BACK!!

It's like getting a new truck all over again. Plus they detailed it inside & out so it no longer smells like smoke. Sooo... I'm making my current pack of smokes the last pack of smokes. Happy times all around! (well, happy for me, maybe not so much me being happy to others until the nicotine monkey is removed from my back.)

Andoran Nani Wahine,

18-Noble-Figurine avatar

I am fighting the nicotine monkey as well and for the most part I don't want to fight it. So I too am a little grumpy. Ok good things...

The 1 year old made it through the weekend and didn't care that I was not there.

Fixed the AC in the minivan so I am no longer cooking the kids in the back

Bought a riding lawnmower and it now takes 45 min to mow the lawn instead of 4 hours.

Had a great no kid weekend with the husband.

Went for a nice motorcycle ride

Went and saw Evan Almighty without kids

Over all a great weekend and looking forward to a nice hike tomorrow and starting my first PbP game on Thursday.

Tegan and Nani - Good luck to you both in your efforts to stop smoking. I did it myself over 2 years ago, after 15 years as a smoker. I went cold turkey, and it was bad for about a month, but it does get better. Part of my trick was to start exercising on a regular basis. Again, good luck!

1. Saw Transformers tonight. Wow. That was better than expected. Nice.
2. Went because wife encouraged me to do above coolness.
3. May actually get a chance to work on D&D tomorrow (today?)

1. Doing fireworks with/for the 4 year old. "Why do they only work once Daddy?" Nice.
2. Got the strong referral from RVP level for our consulting business. Hopefully that will eventually mean what I think it could.
3. Lunch at one of my 2 favorite restaurants tomorrow...and it's on the company's dime.
4. Getting a case (or so) of Night Below minis in the next few days

Good things today...

1. I was up by 10:30 am. (~grumbles~ Damn 4pm to midnight s%%!, er, shift.)
2. I saw Transformers with a friend today.
3. My friend and I went for a walk around the lake and then went to a late lunch. (Guy friend, not a date.)
4. My house is a bit more straightened up.
5. All of my dished are done (after over 3 weeks of just sitting there. UG!!!)
6. I should also have some laundry done soon too.
7. I am off from work today too!!!
8. My walkman still works and I am having a blast listening to my Belinda Carlisle tape!!!

I saw Transformers yesterday, which makes two movie theater experiences for me in less than a week! Ooohhh. I also received my copy of a reprinting of a Brian Lumley anthology from Amazon the other day - Huzzah! And I'm expecting my case of Night Below minis in another few days. Yippee!

Way to go on the 9 years Lilith!

Good things for the day:

4 year old hiked for 5 miles up two trails yesterday and dad only had to carry her on his shoulders for a few minutes!

1 year old enjoyed pulling my hair as I carried her in the backpack up the mountain.

I am having one of those "can't get enough of my husband, I truly love him" days. Every now and then I stop and realize how much I appreciate him. (no he isn't standing behind me either, he is at work)

I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday as much as I did!

We got the same questions about the fireworks as well but throw in there, " I want another smoke stick" (sparkler)
motive: to try to set a box on fire, which she and a friend finally did. Then yell for the "fireman" to put it out so they could try again!

Good luck on the referral!

Way to go on the whole college thing I figure I will finish later rather than sooner but never the less try to finish.

What did he make for dinner? Mine cooked tonight as well, Mac and cheese with corn and tuna fish in it. He says its well balanced and it actually is pretty good.

Good things for the day:

4 year old finally figured out that putting her head under water when swimming is cool and now she is a little fish.( mind you 3 weeks of swimming lessons everyday at the tune of $70 dollars should get you this far at least)

Posted my first official game post tonight so not a virgin anymore (hee hee)and it actually was pretty simple to do.

It's never too late to finish. Ask anyone on the boards, I'm old ;) I have been raising kids for over 20 years, the youngest is finally in school full time (the oldest started college two years ago) and now it's time for mommy to do something for herself.

And, my hubby is making homemade fried rice, with fresh peas out of the garden, yummy!

A while ago I read The Etched City by K.J. Bishop and then wrote a lengthy, constructive review on my blog. Last night (after putting up a new entry with a new sketch) I got a very nice comment on the review from Kirsten J. Bishop, the author, addressing some of the things I had talked about and thanking me for the review. Strange thing this internet, you never know who you're going to meet.

Hey James, I bought and read that one on your recommendation. Good book that I otherwise would never have known about, so thanks!

I found out last night that my baby sister has decided to move down here from Washington, she'll be here by the end of the month. And, my little brother is coming down for a visit next month. I helped out a good friend of mine yesterday and the day before who had to go to the er for respiratory and circulatory problems. She has a plethora of diseases and digestive issues as well, so once I picked her up from the hospital, I took her home, made sure she got some food and sleep, took her out the next day for some sun in her wheelchair and to go shopping, and brought her home again to make sure she ate(although it seemed she had an appetite again), and talked to her for hours about what she was going through. She said she wasn't afraid anymore, but I stayed with her again that night to make sure she didn't fall out of bed. We talked all night and into the day, and I left her house with a sense of calm and companionship I hadn't felt in ages.
