Weekend over.
Less than good Father's day over.
Watching my boy learn to swim and fish.

shamgar,

my 3 year old got to ride for 10 minutes in an honest to goodness real helicopter this weekend. The father in law for the wedding we went to owns one and has a pilot's license. He offered to take Bryce up in the two seater and away they went. A terrifying but utterly cool moment as a parent as I jealously watched. :)

Then he was the ring bearer for the wedding and looked oh, so cute.

Then the next day he went swimming, fishing, and boating all day.

He, at least, had a great weekend.

I just stumbled across this. While I did already post my ecstatic hissy fit in the Neil Gaiman thread, I thought it belongs here as well since it just brightened my whole week.

- Voxtrot concert on Friday = best show I've seen in a year at least.

- Applied for two jobs, checking my email neurotically in the hopes of hearing back.

- Ordered Lords of Madness and Heroes of Horror for a campaign that will probably never happen, but one that I want to plan anyways. Awaiting the critical hit deck I ordered last week.

- Hopefully will start playing on a weekly basis next month.

- Making art and stuff.

I saw some kid on the bus last night (who looked like he was about 12 friggin' years old!) wearing an Exploited t-shirt. Made me all nostalgic, so I dug out my old "Apocalypse '77" CD, and now I'm inflicting it on everyone near my desk here at Paizo.

Good stuff. :)

This is a good thing--my niece, due to a very rare type of dopamine deficiency, never developed her muscles and was never able to walk. About a year ago, doctors at the Mayo Clinic were able to diagnose her and developed a special pill just for her. The positive results were instantly noticeable. Now, one year later, she is the Children's Miracle Network child for the state of Missouri, and she just underwent a surgery to re-set her hips in such a way that she WILL be able to walk after she heals up. She is almost nine years old, and has never wanted anything more than the ability to walk, and now it looks like she will get her wish.

I had my first experience caring for horses today, three of them and just lil ol' me. I'll be staying here at the stables until Saturday night as a favor to a friend. Each of these divine equines stands as big as Shaq but they all behaved like half-ton kitty cats. Not only was I not crushed to death, two of them gave me extensive kisses and licks. I was afraid I tasted good to them. If I don't check in tomorrow, my Good Things to report is over, way over. Jade=horse kibble.

I've always wanted to get this close and in-depth. It's a great experience that could have easily never come my way.

Oooh neat! I love love love horse and, unfortunately, I don't have the funds to be around them very often. Too poor to ride, too poor to have cool relatives that ride, too poor to know people with horses...

I hear that. Cats and dogs are fun though too, and if you starve yourself a bit, and get a big breed puppy, you may be able to ride it, especially if you train your stronger cats to walk under your feet while your saddled on the dog. They act as footbearers and help keep some of the weight of the pup's spine. Try it. You'll be glad ya did.

MOCCA festival in NYC tomorrow, where I will be marketing my ludicrous portfolio. I typically despise conventions (I'm actually kind of shy in person and having all those people around in one place, some of them sitting at booths staring at you expectedly makes me nervous) but I'm going for business, so I'm hoping this will go over well.

That's neat. I haven't ridden a horse since I was 19. I always felt guilty in the saddle, figuring that at the halfway point I should share the burden and put the horse on my back, then carry her back to the stable, whinnying all the way. I've always had some pathological need to share responsibility.

Your portfolio is ludicrous. That's what's right with it. First time I saw it I laughed aloud at one of the pictures and sent the link to a friend. I did the same with your "art school confidential" type post where you broke down your experiences at art school. Most art I just look at and say, "Yep, that's art" but your art, and the wit and viewpoint that fuel it, clearly have the interest of the people.

Do well, Jimmy James.
