Hi guys. Sorry to hear that most of you had an uck day. Mine was more meh. Nothing bad nothing great.
On subject: Kellen's IEP meeting was yesterday. Went great. Sucks to hear that Bryce isn't responding. I had hoped that he would do like Kellen had. Since they were so parallel in attitude.
I am trying to find a summer camp for him. Something physical and science related. The Aquarium has a couple of programs, and there are a couple of away camps. I sent off for more info. And I am looking for something for them now. Like soccer or swimming. Everything is just so stupid expensive.
Know anyone that is a member of a shooting club? My brother got his to sponsor my daughter several years back for summer camp. She had a blast.
Like a gun club? I am not anti guns....but for my 7 year old? No. Just no... Archery sure, horse back riding ok, scuba diving Absolutely, guns...no.

Why aren't my teams winning? Grrr....
In...?
Only thing I follow is the NBA (although I haven't been too involved over the last few years).
My teams are:
LA Lakers (all the way baby!!!)
Boston Celtics
Golden State Warriors
I do however follow the Rugby League over here... my team (Penrith Panthers) won last week, although it was only the first game of the Season, so we'll see how they go from here on out.
Eh, I don't think its possible to be a fan of both the Lakers and Celtics, its like against the law of physics, he he
I was only ever really a fan of the Celtics because of Larry Bird. I haven't really followed them in a loooong time now.
Larry Bird is the president of the Indiana Pacers now, maybe you should follow them, he he

Also, are we aggregating together the thread posts across all the FAWTL threads to see if we reached the 5,000 post goal (or whatever the hell it was that we were trying to do back when this thing went crazy)?

And why did it take me this long to notice.

Hey there Pony boi! How are you doing? When does my "friends with benefits" package start? ~wicked, toothy smile~

Yes, we killed ANOTHER FAWTL thread.

As for cross posting across EVERY thread once we reach the 5000 post mark on this thread... ~shrugs~ I don't know. How upset do you really want to make Gary Teter?
I was discouraged about how things went with Bryce's meeting. But I just have to remember that it wasn't totally pointless. We were at least able to rule some things out. The school can't really do any more for us than they already have, so now we have to try and find some other resources. At least the school was able to help us with the super expensive testing.
Good luck with finding a camp. I know what you mean about them being expensive. It seems like most extracurricular activities are.
lynora, what state are you in? I know in CA, they need to offer more help, and I think other states have similar laws. You might want to look into getting an advocate or an attorney - they can make a huge difference at IEP meetings.
My wife had a funny story about my son's IEP meeting. She's a special education lawyer, so she represents families of kids with special needs all the time. However, she's been very cooperative with our school district because litigation is time consuming, painful, and ultimately not the best solution for the problem at hand. According to her, parents are frequently bullied/misinformed at these meetings.
At the last one, they forgot she was a lawyer and threatened to do something they can't legally do. Her response was "Okay, just give me notice because I will file for due process against you within 24 hours." That got their attention again and helped get the meeting back on track.

Oh god no. I meant adding together the posts in all of the various FATWL threads to see what the grand total is.
In fact, Gary, you should make a counter for that on the website. Now that wish lists are implemented, you've got all sorts of free time, right?

Have a good night everyone. I am going to watch a movie and then go to bed.

Seriously check out the book I referenced. There are others that are similar. After reading the introduction and the first chapter, I thought that they might have known my son personally. (Or myself when I was much younger.) We don't have an IEP for him (yet). He's been going to a private school and they don't have any resources for IEPs. However, the teacher told us that he didn't know his math facts. He had to do like 50 multiplication problems in 3 minutes. We told her that our son knew the facts but that it was impossible for him to write them down. She disagreed with us. We asked her to try something -- give the test to him verbally and see how long it takes him. He finished it in just over 2 minutes. She was amazed. I wasn't. Look into it with your physician though. We were able to get ours to give us a referal to get our son tested and he was able to get a lot of physical therapy -- including some horse riding therapy to help with balance that was fun -- and "occupational therapy" to help him with relationship issues. And it was largely covered by our insurance.
Figuring out what is wrong goes a long way towards making things "right". Good luck.

Anyway, good luck to you and yours.
I'm in Michigan. I've actually gotten a bit of a reputation with the school for being annoyingly tenacious and actually reading all the paperwork. :)
As far as I can tell, they've done everything that they're required to even if it did take a lot of persistence to get them to that point. Today's meeting was the results of the assessment of whether or not he qualifies for special education. Short answer: yes. Long answer: Well, we found something that qualifies him and even though we're not sure it's really the right diagnosis we're going with this cause we're not sure it's not either and he really needs the extra help to function in the classroom.

That sounds...eerily similar. Kid can't take a test to save his life, but he knows the stuff and can do the work. Just can't write it down.
Our big problem is that our insurance covers nothing. Anything outside of his primary physician is totally out of pocket for us. Stupid cut-rate insurance. :/
Apparently, all the blood has evacuated my brain for my stomach.
"Very full"
Now see, I like feeling like that. We have a theory, I eat like a pig and stay thin at 185-195. But I'm gonna wake up on my 40th B-day and it'll have caught up to me. I'll go from Moorluck to MoorGUT overnight.

Its horrible that a school would bully parents. I know that feeling. The public school we were at tried that. I left the school, reported them to the state school board and then the teachers, admins, and psychologist that works with Kellen now reported them as well. Have I mentioned how much I love this school?
Sorry we missed you Flash. I got to head to bed now, I do want to be clear headed when I apply restricted use pesticides to the cancer center at 7am tomorrow. :/
We just got Left 4 Dead 2. I didn't think the title was anything except a play on words. Your companions (the AI ones) are freakin' Benedict Arnolds! Those bastards literally left Treppa and I for dead in the last game we played!

Yeah, the AI in the Left 4 Dead series isn't what anyone would call "good" by any means. Case in point.
Breakfast is awesome!! I have an Everything Bagel with parkay, cantaloupe, banana's and Hazelnut Coffee!! Kids have same thing except they have waffles and chocolate milk. :D

Food Lion is having that sale again. With Sirloin roasts being 50% off. Yes I had them grind me one up. But out of respect for poor Uri, I bought two smaller roasts, not ground. :D
Flash, there is something weird going on with our Skype. It doesn't ring unless we are open to that page. If we are on FB or Paizo or something it just doesn't ring over.
Sorry we missed you. Would have loved to talk with you.
