She wouldn't be her sister if she didn't meddle.. Halsanna would sooner disapprove of Ewald than 'Vae. Don't expect a response from me, since her response would only be a one-liner, and I hate writing those.

Sorry Wellard. Fools rush in. ;)
She won't pull a stunt like in a more serious situation though... Without checking with the others first...

Please don't take offense, Wellard. Vivaeri isn't thinking in very fair terms at the moment. ;) She's holding everything she can against him right now, most of all the fact that he wasn't nearly as bad as what she had been expecting.

It's ok I'd have to pretty thin skinned to take offence at a bit of feminine logic...sn*igger(had to put in an asterix because the censor decided it was racist..sigh)

I was under the impression that the daughters fled to the town first, then Sir Oribar came to find them, and then the game started?

The arranged marriage :
-----------------------
Given the general reaction to the announcement by the girls great father , I would like to change some things . what I propose is each of you are more or less opposed to the idea (Sir Oribar ?)
Rather than discussing it at the family mansion where anyway Morindur is not welcome and the elf who did present himself two months ago announcing himself the girl's uncle is also made unconfortable , you decided to have a change of venue to discuss your plans and removed yourselves to Moreton-on-Marsh a little town one day trip from Oppara .

And it took me a while to realise Amunrel has twin nieces rather than one niece who has a human sister!
Going through the opening bit was really tough!
And Amunrel wasn't uncomfortable with the reaction he got, his concern was genuine after all Taldan or no Taldan arranging a marriage where neither side knows anything about the other... now you know thats going to end in tears!

Too much pressure! ;)
It's the description of Halsanna's movements that make me jealous. I need to try and improve in that area. I rely on internal thoughts a lot, and that makes non-verbal communication between characters a little harder. That's one of the things I really like about PbP so far, you can take your time and study everyone's playstyle and learn from them at an easy pace. :)

Heh. You have what I need to work on. I tend to see my characters as actors in a movie, or a character in a book as seen from the viewpoint of the main character. The only problem is is that since they're seen from an outside viewpoint (and I have a habit of sticking to that viewpoint), their thought process never really comes into question, so I never really get practice.
Something I need to work on, for certain.

I guess doing it that way lets you be more flexible with what your character must have been thinking or feeling whenever you have to change your plans suddenly though. That way it can look a bit more natural. I tend to get locked in and when I have to change plans suddenly my characters can come off seeming a little crazy.
...
I guess that actually works with our characters in this PbP, huh? ;)

Does anyone else feel a sense of forboding right about now? Ewald and Vivaeri getting closer and closer to Halsanna's location where she's handling lots of hot steel? ;)
And Vivaeri would kick Ned if she could hear him now.

I really hesitated to have Ned speak before but given his character I figured he was afraid to interrupt you

So the Taldor book is a bit different from what we've imagined so far, huh? We weren't too far off, were we?

I agree.. could you let us know (not word-for-word, mind you) just how the majority of the noble houses differ from our vision (not that we discussed them much)so that we know where/how these girls came up?

Oh boy where to start...basically Taldoran society is divided into 3 parts
1) Royalty most of whom trace their lineage back to one of the emperors...theres a multitude of titles involved and most have no meaning as the lands that are associated with them were lost yeras ago. This class are obsessed with gathering arcane knowledge
2) the Senatorial class...the hereditary members of Taldor’s senate, the governors of Taldor’s prefectures, and various heads of the bureaucracy and their families.
the two strata above are commonly referred to as 'the bearded' being that they are the only classes in which the men are legally entitled to wear beards. Wearing a beard is a symbol of status, and the level of extravagance poured into a man’s beard is representative of his personal wealth and power.
3) everyone else...subject to high taxes and tarrifs and mostly living a life of grinding poverty....the smartest and luckiest can graduate to the senatorial class and ocassionally to Royalty
I'd say we were from the top end of the senatorial or bottom end of the royalty classes.Possibly even families that were raised from the common crowd given our lack of money

Living in France , I don't have Taldor's book yet but I don't see any big problems with what Wellard said .
Remember than even when the big majority of the people in the country is dirt poor , people working in towns were often more middle class and so a bit richer .

but only a very tiny bit...the book specifically says that even a Merchant with a thriving business has very little excess wealth as he is taxed to the hilt and has to pay high tariffs. A Merchant with money is probably up to his elbows in shady doings which holds its own risks.

Another way of saying Amunrel needs to be looking for adventures to fund his business!

I will point out that ewalds comment was OOC and should really have been made in this thread...still it's a thought and Taldan nobles do tend to make up the rules as the go along on sexual morality...

I didn't think to check my personal posts.
Halsanna is remaining in view, trying not to lounge like a ruffian, and probably failing somewhat. She's probably standing like a capable young woman, instead of looking like a "pretty armpiece", what with the breeches and shirt.

Just remember than you are not in the street but in a landing in a building . There can be little doubt than you are with the others if you are in sight

Had to dig this out of the Archives.
I'd be willing to continue, though I will have to re-create a character. Halsanna is happy to fade away with the rest of the family until (if) valkyrie or Jal returns.

and with no girls around Ewald has no purpose in this game either. off course he and Vae could just go off to get to know each other.
I do have a character available I can use from a failed second darkness game

Adjunta might consider working for the wizard but he's a by the letter sort of fellow and he wouldn't abandon his posting at the church to take on a new job. Perhaps arrangements can be made?

Adjunta , it would not be a problem
for Halsanna and Evald , I have been thinking and I might justify why the others two would not be able to continue with you for the time being . Of course , it's your choice

I've had this idea in my head, wanted to work out how to make it work anyways. I'll let Halsanna fade out for now.
Was juggling between the idea of an Abjurer or a Transmuter.. Never really played a wizard, figure to give it a shot.

Yes and i have this rogue who has been in three failed SD games now..maybe Adjunta could try and set him on the staight and narrow...hehheh

Adjunta might, he has a club he's not had a chance to use yet. I'm sure he could have your rogue straight and narrow in no time . . . or at least horizontal and lumpy.
