Just woke up after having one of those after work naps with a good idea for a character that I am looking forward to trying.

I will be playing a Human Bard. Name, Background and Character sheet to follow shortly, but his story is pretty much fleshed out in my head.

Seeker,

I would like the name of a Swashbuckling Hero or Pirate who would appear in a play house production based around his exploits, he can be alive or dead, a cool sounding name would be appreciated. My character is currently playing him in the theatre. (As long as that is OK in your eyes).

Fine by me you can make one up or I can I like player interaction in a game world.

Another thing for you folks we have 6 players which is a good sized group what is everyone's thought on adding a 7th?

If the DM can handle 7 players, it's fine by me!

I run a party of 7 players every week, around a table it is a bit like herding cats, but I think it may be a bit easier to control on a pbp.

I am just happy to be playing, so I will go with what ever you say.

Seeker,

I have added my history for you to agree.

Spoiler:
Two names used from the Savage Tide Players guide in my history are Maklash Gristwhistle as a family friend (page 3) and The Lord of Lidu Manor as a possible father (page 11).

Please veto anything you dislike. Let me know if there is anything you would like me to add that is campaign based. Any suggestions welcome.

Stats should be done by tomorrow if work is quite, I am still debating Bard or Fighter (Bard is favourite).

q. Are there any skills that you feel the group is missing?

Hi, everyone! Just want to say thanks for letting me join in as your 7th. Little bit about me:
- I live in the Detroit, MI area, so am on US EST;
- Been gaming since I was about 10 (24 years), but left the hobby for a while after college (the 2nd Ed days). Came back a few years ago.
- Like a few others, this is my first PbP, and I know only a little about Eberron (I don't have any of the books). But I pick things up fairly quickly.

That said, I have a few character ideas rolling around; does there seem to be a pressing need for anything? By my review, it looks like you have a fighter, rogue, cleric, psion, bard, and (mostly) monk; I was considering either a wizard or ranger, but am willing to play just about anything ... more than likely, it will be a human (just because of my unfamiliarity with Eberron races).

OK a few things char creation info is on the first page. you can download the savage tide player guild free on this site, I would be more then happy to send or share any info you need about eberron there are some tidbit changes on the first page..

what all did she take the buckler and the sword or did she get other things?

Qadira Bryan,

Paizo Drow Slaughter HRF avatar

Though I was originally considering ranger or wizard, I'm now leaning towards an arcane-bloodline sorcerer (I figured since Finn was only going to be taking 1 level of sorcerer, it wouldn't be a huge overlap).

My initial concept was that he was a "slacker"-type from a minor noble family in Sasserine, and that the family has a history of wizardly study and are especially known for their research into the Draconic Prophecy. His sorcerous ability, which he actually resents a bit, comes from the family's long exposure to arcane energies and the Prophecy itself.

Problem: since I have no Eberron books, I know only what has been in Dragon magazine about the Prophecy. Can anyone give me a little bit of info/background? Is this background feasible? Which knowledge skill(s) deal with the prophecy?

Thanks in advance for any help!!

not sure. dragons spend lifetimes trying to understand even a small part of it. will look over my books and see what I can find out for you.

I would say knowledge DRAGON porf off top of my head, history and planes my also help.

Qadira Bryan,

Paizo Drow Slaughter HRF avatar

OK, sorry for flip-flopping more than a politician, but I went with a wizard after all. However, his background will be very close to what I had planned (bright but lazy scion of minor noble family; he's good at magic but never really liked it ...) I still want to work in the Draconic Prophecy, if it can fit.

Couple of questions: can I spend some of my starting money on scribing scrolls? If so, I'm a little confused on the cost - is a 1st level spell 25gp or 12.5gp to scribe? The beta says crafting costs are 1/2 the sale price, but in the various scroll portions, it seems to use "cost" and "price" interchangably. I'm assuming 25, but wondered how everyone else interprets it.

Osirion seekerofshadowlight,

With out looking I would say 1/2. And yes you may do that as it is a class ability. Do be warned the class skills my change but we are playtesting :)

Bad grammar is to fallow
DRACONIC PROPHECY

ECS SAYS

Spoiler:

The dragons o f Argonnessen study t he world a round
them for signs and portents. They study the sky above, the
pits and caverns below, and the land between, watching
for anything that might suggest an omen. The dragons,
long-lived and patient in all things, seek meaning in
the patterns they see all around them. These patterns
play out in the Prophecy, a record of things to come that
has been emerging since the creation of the world. Many
dragons spend a great deal of effort charting the movement
of the moons and stars, studying the patterns of the
Dragon Above, interpreting omens, and watching for
signs and portents.
The draconic Prophecy is as complex and unfathomable
as the dragons themselves. A few among the lesser
races learn and study snippets of the huge and constantly
accumulating text, but only the dragons have the time and
perspective to see the Prophecy for what it truly is. There
are few traditional texts containing parts of the Prophecy.
Instead, the dragons believe that the world itself is a living
text that carries and reveals passages of the Prophecy to
those who can see it.
Passages appear throughout the world, above, below,
and between. Signs are revealed in the changing shape
of the Ring of Siberys. Dragonmarks appear on the sides
of mountains or the walls of caves, though some of these
can only be read when the moons and stars are in certain
alignments, or through the application and proximity of
certain dragonshards. Recently, at least as far as dragons
are concerned, a new canvas for dragonmarks appeared in
the world: the lesser races (as reckoned by the dragons),
particularly humans and their closest kin, began to manifest
dragonmarks about three thousand years ago.
The appearance of dragonmarks on the lesser races
has led to much debate among the dragons. For whatever
reason, the Prophecy apparently has decided to reveal a
portion of itself through the humans and their kin. As
always, the dragons continue to watch and study, contemplate
and discuss, as they seek meaning and understanding
in the signs and portents all around them.
What is the nature of the Prophecy that occupies so
much of the dragons’ time? There is, of course, plenty of
room for conjecture and interpretation. Even among the
dragons, different factions interpret the signs in different
ways. The Prophecy hints at events of doom and dread as
often as it helps push the world toward exalted events. It is
generally believed that the Prophecy points toward transformation,
not destruction. Beyond that, the Prophecy
remains as alien as the dragons themselves.
Dragon marked says
Spoiler:

For centuries, explorers have noted strange symbols similar
to dragonmarks formed by such seemingly random
forces as coral growth, lava flows, and earthquakes. These
are the symbols of the draconic Prophecy studied by the
great dragons of Argonnessen. Dragonmarks caused an
upheaval among the dragons when they first appeared,
and the Chamber has monitored the marked races ever
since. It is difficult for humans and their kin to grasp the
vast mysteries of the draconic Prophecy. Some scholars
claim that the dragonmarks represent primal forces, and
are tied to both the moons of Eberron and the planes. As
such, a dragonmarked heir is a pawn of prophecy: a tool
that can be used to shape the future.
The statement that a vile demon can be destroyed
only by “Storm, Shadow, and the Servant of the Forge”
might refer to vague legend—or it might refer to heirs of
House Lyrandar, House Thuranni, and House Cannith
working in concert. Members of the Chamber sometimes
assemble teams of dragonmarked heirs to meet certain
conditions. In other cases, the convergence of heirs can
have its own signifi cance. Just as a shaman reads meaning
into the random patterns of bone chips, a student
of the Prophecy can dredge omens from the presence of
particular dragonmarks in a specific location.
More information about the draconic Prophecy and
those who study it can be found in Magic of Eberron. Some of
the greatest dragon prophets (a prestige class introduced
in that book) have been heirs of dragonmarked houses,
though many sever their house ties after grasping the
greater mysteries
Magic of eberron saus
Spoiler:

Overtures were made to specific individuals the dragons
had observed for some time. Some bore dragonmarks
themselves, but most did not. The individuals in question
were all of an arcane bent, much like dragons themselves,
and they were tasked with being the eyes and ears
of their draconic masters, seeking signs of the Prophecy
and occasionally acting on behalf of the dragons in causes
in which the dragons were interested. In every case, these
individuals acted to further the dragons’ understanding
of the Prophecy. In the process, they gained some insight
into its mysteries themselves and began to manifest strange
new abilities reminiscent of the great dragon deities.
These individuals collectively came to be known as dragon
prophets .
The dragon prophets have learned much from their
draconic mentors (or masters, depending on the specific
relationship involved), many dealing directly with a greater
understanding of the draconic Prophecy. These abilities
focus on the insight of the complex Prophecy, as well as a
greater understanding of the world at large. As a prophet
gains more of a grasp on the Prophecy, she begins to see
everything around her in a different light. Many fi nd
themselves able to predict the future, while others simply
become more aware of their surroundings.

The dragons of Argonnessen are convinced that dragonshards
are essential to understanding the Prophecy. The
dragons read the true meaning of the marks within the
shards, and realize that some marks are only truly understood
when combined with or exposed to other marks.
Eberron shards, in particular, seem responsible for
the manifestation of dragonmarks on the humans, elves,
and other races of Khorvaire. Many sages believe that the
dragonmarks were brought about due to long exposure, over
many generations, to the Eberron dragonshards that lie just
beneath the ground. Of course, those sages are unable to
explain why no dragonmarks manifested among the orcs of
the Eldeen Reaches or the goblinoids of the great Empire of
Dhakaan during the millennia that passed before human,
elf, and dwarf colonization.
Many dragons spend every night for centuries looking
up at the Ring of Siberys. The ring shifts subtly over
time, as some of the dragonshards that comprise the ring
fall to Eberron as Siberys showers. The dragons feel that
signs and portents from the ring represent omens from
the spirit of Siberys, guiding the dragons so that they can
be prepared if the spawn of Khyber once again emerge to
dominate the world.
Tales are told of great Khyber caverns, whose walls
are covered in markings of all sorts, and yet those markings
shift and fluctuate if a strongly attuned dragonshard
is carried through the cavern. Some of the markings seem
to shirk away from Eberron shards, yet they crowd toward a
powerful Khyber shard. The effect is subtle, however, and
only those possessing the great patience and attention of
the dragons can truly appreciate these mark manifestations.
Only the dragons and those versed in the Prophecy, such as
dragon prophets, can gain any insight from the sigils deep
within Khyber.
A few nondragons have been exposed to slivers of the
Prophecy. Some deranged Dragon Below cultists who worship
Khyber, the progenitor wyrm, believe that Khyber
dragonshards bind the ancient dragon within the depths
of the world. These cultists strive to remove or destroy
Khyber shards through magical rituals designed to break
the binding forces. Still another cult faction believes that
the dragonshards represent the physical form of the dragon
itself. These cultists are convinced that if a large enough
concentration of Khyber dragonshards were collected,
Khyber could fi nd the strength to rise again. These cultists
have amassed secret caches consisting of tens or hundreds
of Khyber shards.
Other, more scholarly types have suggested that the
dragonmarks represent the dragon Eberron expressing
its will through the dragonmarked races—races Eberron
has chosen. What the races have been chosen for is
unclear. Perhaps a cataclysmic showdown is inevitable,
with the dragonmarked races battling the aberrations,
fiends, and other forces of Khyber, as well as the dragons,
the chosen of Siberys. This theory is but one of many
regarding the relationship of dragonshards with the
Prophecy.

Great stuff! That's plenty for me to go on ... I certainly wasn't expecting you to go to that much trouble, but thanks! It was very appreciated. I'm thinking my character's family may be descended from one of the draconic prophets mentioned in Magic of Eberron, but no longer has contact with their original masters. I'll flesh this out as I write it up ... Is there any special way you want me to meet up with the others that I should include, or is it early enough in the game that I could do the same "15 minutes of fame" thing?

Also, I've got everything done except my background (I think), so I'll post as my character next for you to take a look at.

Sure! Sounds good. This is a basic idea of what I was working on for a background:

Daurros is the youngest son of a small, minor noble family => in a family specializing in arcane research (especially the Draconic Prophecy), Daurros hated studying and research (and thought the Prophecy was a wild goose-chase), but ironically found it came very easy to him and still retained just about everything he read => despite his best efforts, Daurros graduates from one of academies (House of the Dragon, maybe) but far lower in his class than he could have, earning the displeasure of his family => from both a lack of ambition and a desire to "embarrass" his family, Daurros has spent most of his time since then at taverns and parties => family is finally fed up and makes him leave home a few months ago, and the money is starting to dry up => "something" happens that forces Daurros briefly into the "limelight" and also makes him question whether the Prophecy may be more than bunk, after all. It's also the first time he really uses his magic in a major way, and the first time he does something to help someone else.

Since nothing is set in stone yet, I'm open to alteration or suggestions; but looking at Ardanto/Jacob's background here's my idea for how they know each other:
Daurros and Jacob have known each other since they were kids. Sneaking off to the theater, rather than studying, was a common occurrence for Daurros from childhood up through schooling. The two boys met and grew to be friends. The last few years, either they both spent some time carousing at the taverns or maybe Jacob/Ardanto wasn't as interested in that and sadly watched as his friend's excesses have increased. Regardless, Daurros was at the performance were Jacob was injured, and noticed someone in the rafters right were the sand bag had come from. Daurros gave chase, and managed to dodge a thrown knife before disabling the would-be murderer with his magic and turning him over to the watch (perhaps it turned out to be a rival actor?)

What do you think?

I like the above, sounds good to have us know each other.

Jacob would of initially been put off by your drinking and gambling, but you could also be the person who took him out to the seedier parts of town as part of his preparation for his last roll.
It also makes sense, in a weird way, that you like the new Ardanto better than the old Jacob because he likes to gamble and drink.

I am not sure if the evil DM, oops I mean Seeker would like to use the mystery of the falling sand bag later on, so unless you want to use that as your 15 minutes of lime light, lets say you saw a shadowy figure in the rafters, but they were gone before you could react, no one else believes your story. Obviously Ardanto has no idea what you are on about, as he was not at the play that night (in his poor fractured mind)

Seeker
Ardanto is finished and ready to be checked, he ended up being a fighter after I studied the groups skills. I messed up the format on the attack rolls, so they were difficult to read, I have converted them for you as well as retaining the original roll.

I am currently ensconced in a sea side tavern waiting for the next adventure. Carousing is the order of the day, I am not above giving a impromptu sing song in a crowded tavern.

Ok will get yall in.

Bryan not sure why you have 2 sets of 0th level spells listed.
You get 3 per day they are spell like ability used at will. If I have over looked something let me know.

The three that I have listed as 1/day are the spell-like abilities from the "Knack for Magic" feat from the Savage Tide Player's Guide, unless I interpreted the feat wrong. (I edited my profile to show that better.) The others listed above that are the cantrips I specifically prepared.

Hi,

I am going to be on a vacation until the 29th September and
I don't know how good my internet access will be.
Please DMPC Forzakhad, until I get back.

Whoop, my first post is done.

Sorry it is so long, my fingers would not stop typing.

Let me know if I jump to too many conclusions, or if I advance time too much or write to much, or just anything that needs changing full stop.

Thanks to a post by Whisper (who is also on at midnight like me *WAVES*) I can now see that Lady Vanderboren is a robo-babe. In Latin she would be called "babia majora". If she were a president she would be Baberaham Lincoln.

OK guys I used this in my RL stap game so here is an option makes life hella easy

Instead of worrying about meal prices, lodging, replacing torn clothing,
and other miscellaneous costs, as well as to represent the kinds of
costs that turn up in daily life that aren’t reflected on the tables in
Chapter 7 of the Player’s Handbook, you can require each player to pay
a monthly upkeep cost based on the lifestyle of the character.
The upkeep can be assumed to take into consideration every
expense except the cost of specific adventuring equipment—even
taxes. Ultimately, each player should choose the level of upkeep she’s
willing to pay.
From most modest to priciest, the levels of upkeep are selfsufficient,
meager, poor, common, good, and extravagant.
Self-Sufficient: Cost 2 gp per month. Even if you own your home (or
live with someone else), raise your own food, make your own clothes,
and so on, you occasionally need to purchase a new pair of shoes, pay
a road toll, or buy staples such as salt. Common laborers earn about 3
gp per month, so they usually have to be self-sufficient just to survive.
Meager: Cost 5 gp per month. A meager upkeep assumes that you
eat little (or hunt and gather a fair amount of your food in the wild) and
sleep in flophouses and occasionally in the street or in the wild.
Poor: Cost 12 gp per month. Poor upkeep means providing for yourself
from the most basic of travelers’ accommodations, which are
nevertheless better than living on the street or in the woods.
Common: Cost 45 gp per month. You live in inns and eat tavern
meals every day, a practice that quickly grows to be moderately expensive.
This level of upkeep assumes the occasional night drinking in the
tavern or a nice glass of wine with dinner.
Good: Cost 100 gp per month. You always stay in your own room at
inns, and you eat healthy, solid meals with a glass of wine. You maintain
a jaunty style with your clothing and try to keep yourself supplied
with the good things in life.
Extravagant: Cost 200 gp per month. You buy and use only the best.
You take the finest rooms in the finest inns, eat lavish meals with the
best wines, attend and throw stunning parties, have regal clothing, and
make flamboyant gestures through large expenditures. You may even
own your own impressive home with servants.

If this is ok with everyone we will use this.
Pick the upkeep you want any left over gold can be spent on anything not in cluded .

Ardanto looks in his purse, then looks at the inn keepers bill. "Gulp, I'll be right back he says," as he makes a sharp exit.

"This Vanderboren wench had better pay well, or I will need a seedier inn" he muses.

I use a similar game mechanic in my own group, figures work out about the same, so I am am happy with these.
