Just had a few things explained to me about monsters as PCs. Apparently, the 2hd plus 1LA make lizardfolk a level 3 character before taking on any classes. So, If we go by those rules, Ffethpaar would be an unclassed character until reaching the next level.

Do we have a ruling on this? if that is so, I will drop the cleric levels and play him as an unclassed character to start with. If you lose the 1LA I will make him a level 1 cleric.

Well by raw thats right however,the way I see it is your just 2HD so allowing a class level on top of that shouldnt be an issue for balance really.Now I think he still would be +1LA but some times the rules are wonky[ok alot of times with LA] and you just need to make a call.I would allow level 1 cleric you would still be 3HD the mechanex in LA add the +1LA to HD but the hd are why you have the LA so that never made sence to me.if you didnt have the HD or the stuff that come with it you wouldn't be +1 LA. now how I have done it before is run straight LA and not worry so much with ECL it eyeball it and go.
so my suggestion is +1LA with 2hd raw lizard man treat him as 3rd level[what he is really] and not 4th[kinda a silly rule where the math brakes down].
just throwing in my 2 cents

Skills look a little different in Pathfinder, you don't get skill points, but you do get to choose skills to have training in. Jump and balance are subsumed (always wanted to use that word!) by the acrobatic skill. Does the fact that I have a racial bonus mean that I can claim it as an extra trained skill? Meaning I would have +8 acrobatics and +8 Swim? (BTW, do half points round up or down? if down then +7 for both of the above)... Or do racial skill count the same as class skills giving the full trained bonus (i.e. +10 for each of the above).

To summarise, given the racial +4 bonus for Swim and Acrobatics, do I end up with:

+5 (just dex and racial)
+8 (or 7) (dex plus racial plus trained non-class)
+10 (dex plus racial plus full trained)

I'm guessing max HP for Ffethpaar still would only apply to the first d8 (seems a bit strong otherwise).

It's sooo tempting to go with no weapons just natural claws and teeth.

let me see if I can help here.
by the pathfinder rules so far you get 5 skills+INT mod from being a 2HD lizard man
your lizasrdman class skills are swim and acrobatics..so you'll have 3+ cross skills
you do get a +4 to thous 2 skills +ability mods
*cross skills round down .
*not sure if racial skills are train I would say no but you do gain a mod for them +4 s nothing shabby.
on HD looks like were rolling but you'll have 3d6[2 from lizard man 1 from cleric]

so as for skill you get
5+int mod then 2+int mod from cleric .
also by chart you are 3rd level
you got your first feat with race it was counted in your 2nd you will get at cleric one. also you get one skill at 2nd lizardman hd to.

hope this helped

Update: I just read the tiefling thread I started and I am leaning towards these changes:

1) abolishing the +1 LA
2) Dropping the Outsider status (unless parent was a full-fledged fiend ... I don't see why if Great-granpappy was from the Abyss why you should be banished there!)
3) Switching stat penalty from CHA to WIS (that seems to make sense to me)

What do you all think? And what about changes to Thrugnipp's Lizzy's LA?

Ok man this is cool was thiking that myself i was all in that thread lol.
I will have to rework some states nothing major helps me some really.

Hey all,
Sorry I didn't get back on last night, wife claimed executive privelege on me. I am leaning towards keeping the +1 LA for Tieflings, but I am going to check the thread I started to see if any of of mechanicphiles came up with a decent solution. I will be posting kind of sporadically this upcoming week. This is a continuous effect and requires
no activation.
In addition, the belt has 3 charges,
which are renewed each day at dawn.
Spending 1 or more charges allows you to
channel positive energy and heal damage
with a touch. (You can also use this ability
to harm undead, dealing them an equivalent
amount of damage instead.)

3 charges: Heals 4d8 points of damage.
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, cure

started to take it but I wanted to have you look it over looked a little much for me at that price range I mean its the same cost as a wand of CLW.

I've only given myself 4 skills so far so you think I should have another 3 (i.e. 7 in total) (int mod = 0)? Sound cool.

And 2 feats in total.

I think I get it.

Thanks.

So Lizzy is:
2 levels of monster
1 level of cleric

from monster levels:
2xd8 hitdie, +5 nat armor, claw(1d4+st)/claw(1d4+st)/bite(1d4,-2 to hit)
Lvl 1 feat: multiattack
2+int skill choices (but only 2 class skills- each at +4 racial)
+1 skill choice (second monster level)
Hold Breath (special quality)
+3 reflex, +1 BAB, Simple weapons and Shields

From cleric level:
cleric hit die
+2 Fort and Will
Lvl 3 feat (whatever)
Cleric abilities and class skills
Armor(light,medium,and heavy)
no additional skill choices

Now, that's some MEAT. I like it. -niel

Last time for burbling. Reading things again I see that Skill checks are 1d20 + character level + 3 + ability modifier + racial modifier. So, if Ffethpaar actually takes Acrobatics (or swim) as one of his trained skills he would get a bonus of

3 + 3(character level) + 1 (dex12 mod) + 4 (racial) = 11.

Sounds a lot.. But he won't kick it in the teeth.

However he WILL kick anyone who calls him Lizzie to his face... :)

Osirion seekerofshadowlight,

18 Undead-Fort-Commander C avatar

Well Thrugnipp they are not trained but are+4 skills so they are 1d20+mod+4 not trained .

From the d20 srd
Lizardfolk As Characters
Lizardfolk As Characters

Lizardfolk characters possess the following racial traits.

* +2 Strength, +2 Constitution, -2 Intelligence.
* Medium size.
* A lizardfolk’s base land speed is 30 feet.
* Racial Hit Dice: A lizardfolk begins with two levels of humanoid, which provide 2d8 Hit Dice, a base attack bonus of +1, and base saving throw bonuses of Fort +0, Ref +3, and Will +0.
* Racial Skills: A lizardfolk’s humanoid levels give it skill points equal to 5 × (2 + Int modifier, minimum 1). Its class skills are Balance, Jump, and Swim. Lizardfolk have a +4 racial bonus on Balance, Jump, and Swim checks.
* Racial Feats: A lizardfolk’s humanoid levels give it one feat.
* Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A lizardfolk is automatically proficient with simple weapons and shields.
* +5 natural armor bonus.
* Natural Weapons: 2 claws (1d4) and bite (1d4).
* Special Qualities (see above): Hold breath.
* Automatic Languages: Common, Draconic. Bonus Languages: Aquan, Goblin, Gnoll, Orc.
* Favored Class: Druid.
* Level adjustment +1.

I looked at it wronge b4 neil is correct on skills you get 2+int for lizard man just got up man sorry about that
however swim and acro are the only ones on your list so just take em if you do that would be 3+3+mod+4
i would say you can swap out your fest myself
and then you get 2 skills from cleric.

so 2skills from lizzy +2 skills cleric+1 skill from 2nd level

thats 5 skills for you.

sorry for the confuzion I cause man

Hi all:

Just dropping in quickly before spending some quality time with the wife. Liking all the characters so far. Seeker, you have done a wonderful job with the number crunching, thanks for stepping up and pitching in. So far everything you've said has made sense. The belt BTW is fine. Healing magic is a neccesity if we want game flow. The price looks right (under 900). I am busy lining up some adventuring options for you all. Hopefully we can bang out the info on our characters and get rolling within the week.

Thrugnipp wrote:

Optimism works, 1st level he is. It looks like you and Seeker have already worked out the kinks, I say go with what you all have discessed thus far. You can get any magic item (common) you want. Sigil is the multiverse's hub after all. just nothing higher than 900 gp to start.

This is the stuff I love. Fantastic flavor Guy/Kayos.

Morning all (and afternoon to those in the Middle Kingdom),

Good to see everyone's build progressing so well. Kruelaid, the saber is fine. Why? Because it is cool. I have been looking over everyone's character, and I do see one omission, which I should have discussed before: The Knowledge(Sigil) skill. A lot of you have Knowlege(planes) as a skill, or Knowlege(local). This is fine, and it will help in knowledge situations, but I will be ruling that such a general knowledge class makes the DC higher for finding out good 'darks' on Sigil. If anyone wants to take Knowledge(Sigil) as a skill, I think it would be in your party's best benefit in the long run. Sigil's three (rule of three) main resources are: Travel, Trade and Information. Information flows through this city, and anyone 'in the know' is poised to benefit.

Seeker: Excellent choice! I do think your party will benefit in the long run from your choice. A lot of the theme of this game is going to be finding information, and getting in scrapes (think Spencer for Hire with fiends and exotic locales). In Sigil talking, finding out info and just plain bluffing will be almost as important as combat skills.

Plated leather (LIGHT ARMOR)
COST: 200 gp
AC: +4
MAX DEX: +5
PENALTY: -1
ASF: 15%
MOVE PENALTY: 30/30, 20/20
WEIGHT: 25 lb.

Plated Leather: This thick leather armor is rein-
forced with metal plates. The plates cover only large
areas of the body, leaving the joints covered only by
leather. Plated leather has enough metal components
to be vulnerable to the rust monster’s rust ability and
similar attacks. Characters not proficient in plated
leather find the plates awkward and confining.

AC: +4
MAX DEX: +4
PENALTY: -2

MOVE PENALTY: 30/30, 20/20
WEIGHT: 15 lb.

Silver Spiderweave: Despite its appearance, spiderweave is a very light and effective armor style created by elven artisans. Intricate patterns of silver and leather are joined in a spider web pattern. The combination of metal and leather makes this style of spiderweave
unsuitable for magic-using adventurers.
