I forgot - Mitnal needs to make a will save (DC 14) or be shaken.
Kenzo is tripped by the hound attacking him, but manages to land one weak blow before rolling back and away from the hound.
The hound moves in to reattack the monk on the ground. Meanwhile the other continues to go for Mitnal.
Hound 1 attacks Mitnal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 3) + 4 = 13
Hound 2 attacks Kenzo: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Hound 1 Trip against Mitnal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
The hound attacking Mitnal sinks his teeth into the barbarian's leg but Mitnal manages to keep his footing and shake the hound off.

"Kill them fast," Mitnal whines to Jeslara as he shakes one off his leg and blocking it from getting a second helping with his klar.

"I agree with Mitnal! Rarrrgh!" I try ineffectually to hack at nearest hound's hide.

Mitnal begins to sing the ancient Shoanti call to battle, "Who? Who? Who let the dogs out ...?"

Grimacing at the sight of the gruesome dog bite Mitnal has to endure, Jessa uses the iron wand once more in an effort to incinerate the thing.

Jessa once more shocks the hound, but Eugen's sword bounces harmlessly along its hide.

Yeah, that would be correct. It's starting to look a littled peaked.

I refocus my mind, and raise high my sword, bringing it down on the hound's head as hard as I am able.

Sorry for the delay. I was out of town again.
Mitnal is no longer on total defense. Mitnal is working himself into a battle frenzy.
"Who let the dogs out -- woof, woof, woof, woof?" he sings as he tries to work his hammer and klar. "Who let the dogs out -- woof, woof, woof, woof?!"
Round 1 of rage today.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Mitnal's attack staggers the hound and it stumbles, the fight out of it. Eugen steps in and with a well placed thrust, manages to pierce it's chest. The unnatural hound slumps off the sword and falls to the ground.
Kenzo, meanwhile, looks to be in trouble.
Gyorgy finds himself on the ground floor, near the top of the steps.
Perception from the harried Gyorgy?

So what does Jessa do?
|
|
|

"Eugen! Help Kenzo!" Jessa shouts as the first dog goes down. Then, she quickly clasps her necklace while reaching out to touch Mitnal.
Spontaneously casting cure light wounds, by trading in command... 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
When done with that, she moves away, following Eugen and attempting to stay behind the big warrior until she can snatch Kenzo and safely pull him away.
In terms of initiative order, you can drop Jessa to 10 so she's just behind Eugen.

Hounds in the Temple - Round 5
Mitnal: Initiative 22 -14 hp

Mitnal's up. Kenzo is still conscious, but just barely.

Round 2 of rage today:
Attack with hammer: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Attack with klar: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Mitnal bashes away with his hammer while trying to avoid the animals teeth.
|

Mitnal's hammer strikes a grazing blow on the hound, just enough to get it's attention.
It snarls, barks and then turns on the barbarian.
Attacking Mitnal: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Mitnal manages to keep away from its snapping teeth.

Hoping to help Eugen and the big barbarian save Kenzo, Jessa summons the wand's energy once more and tries to shock the dog.

The shock causes the hound to yip and it turns away from Mitnal long enough to bark and whine at Jessa.
Eugen scratches it.
If you want to manuever to flank it, you can this round.
Gyorgy runs up to the door.

By my mark, I believe we're back at the top of the order and awaiting Mitnal's action? I didn't state it last round, but Jessa would likely encourage Kenzo to drag himself away from the dog while everyone else surrounds it.

Sorry. I was sure I had posted something ...
Mitnal continues to sing Shoanti battle songs while bashing away at the creature.
Round 3 of rage today:
Attack with hammer: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Attack with klar: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Mitnal bashes in the direction of the hound, but it has apparently decided that Jessa is the real threat and it turns from the barbarian to her, savagely trying to tear her to pieces.
Attacking: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Only her arcane protections manage to keep it at bay.
Gyorgy - you finally get to shine. :)

Jessa gives a small shriek as the dog directs its savagery against her. She invokes the Thassilonian wand once more to keep it at bay. And, at the exact same moment, she sees the streaking missiles from Gyorgy's wand.
"Oh, thank the gods," she murmurs, "He found his courage again. And just in time."
Taking heart, she attempts to add the electrical energy enveloping her hand to the dog's misery.

Sorry for the delay on my part - hopefully I got my internet problems sorted out now, for a while at least.
The magic missile and the electrical sparks cause the hound-thing considerable pain, and though Eugen does not cut the beast, his sword does impact with a crack, like a bone or something within the hound's body has broken.

Mitnal's natural love for animals he doesn't want to eat makes it very hard for him finish even this creature off.

The hound deftly avoids Mitnal's attack and goes for Jessa once more.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Jessa continues to avoid its rather large fangs.
Gyorgy's magic missiles slam into it and it yelps out once and then, with a shudder collapses to the floor. It's chest continues to rise and fall with ragged, short breaths.

Jessa falls away from the fight, taken aback again by the dog's savagery. "M-make sure it's dead..." she urges Eugen and Mitnal. Then, she looks back with welcome relief at Gyorgy. "That was...very timely. Thank Sivhana you're okay."
Her eyes then fall on Kenzo. The monk looks bloody enough that she knows he'll need healing. Even Mitnal appears a bit worn down. Once the dogs are indeed fully dead, she gathers everyone around and clasps her necklace once more to plead for her goddess' aid.

"Darn it," Jessa complains, "I can only hope she took our advice and got out of here. Otherwise, we're going to have to face her, the guy who untied her, and maybe Nualia, too. And now that Lyrie's faced us in battle, she'll have an idea of what we can do."
"What do the rest of you think?" she asks, "Should we withdraw for now and reconsider how we want to oppose Nualia? Or do we press on and hope we catch her unprepared?"

Mitnal sits down hard and begins to clean his hammer and shield. Unfortunately, there isn't much to clean, which seems to depress him.
