Wellards rescue attempt on RotRL
Alisebett,

Paizo PF 7 Living Doll Final avatar

The grey blur that is Ali in wolf form streaks to the nearest goblin, jumping to rip it's throat out.
Attack=(Natural 20!)24, Dam=7, Initiative=19

To confirm crit=16
does anyone know how crits with bite/natural attacks work? If necessary she rolled an additional 5 dam)

Taldor Wellard (Pathfinder Companion Subscriber),

X 4 Ghost-Dwarf avatar

As far as I know crits with natural weapons are dealt with just like any other..I'll HR it that you can only critical on a 20 with any natural weapon..small and medium creatures do double damage..large and huge creatures do triple damage and anything bigger does quadruple damage

The surprise round goes like this.(also taking Inakais round one action into account)

Ali bursts through the door and leaps on a goblin, bringing it down in a welter of blood.

Inakai swings hard but his Morning star is stopped by his targets armour. He changes the angle on the back swing and brains the horrible little creature which collapses at his feet.

Muchorak strides in and fells a third of the screeching humanoids with one sure stroke of his longsword.

Jael's weapon rips into the belly of a fourth goblin which collapses in a heap.He pauses to curse the dying creature

The goblins begin to react but they are obviouly stunned by the speed of your attack

Initiative order
Inaki 24
Ali 19
Murchorak 11
Goblins 8
Jael 6

Muchorak "Windstriker",

Guard-captain-blacklock avatar

Muchorak will proceed to the next Goblin (Dodge as the surprise round)and strike out with his Longsword.

(D20= 9+3= 12, dmg D8=4+2=6)

Alisebett,

Paizo PF 7 Living Doll Final avatar

The wolf races to rip the stomach out of the next closest Goblin
Attack=18
Dam=5

Taldor Wellard (Pathfinder Companion Subscriber),

X 4 Ghost-Dwarf avatar

Ali brings a second Goblin down but Muchoraks blow fails to connect.

The three remaining goblins come out of their stupor and one shrieks something in goblin .They drop their weapons and run for the doors at the far end of the room in panic

Muchorak gets an Attack of opportunity against his opponent.

Muchorak "Windstriker",

Guard-captain-blacklock avatar

Taking advantage of the Goblin's poor combat skills Muchorak swings his Longsword.

(D20= 15+3=18, Dmg D8= 3+2=5)

Inikai,

Pathfinder 9 Monk avatar

If Inikai is close enought to swing at another goblin before it gets away he does

Natural 20

For the first time I actually have a confirmation!

Critical Confirmation:19

Damage:4. Big woop.

Jacendar,

Heads 2 avatar

Jael will move to flank whichever goblin is being attack by his closest group-mate.

Attack - Assuming flanking ( 2) is viable. (1d20+5=18)

Damage (includes Sneak attack) (2d6+1=8)

Go team us! I think I'm going to invest in Improved Initiative ASAP.

Jael charges after the Goblins slashing wildly at one wounding it
Start of round 3

Inakai does not have a target in range but Ali with her higher base speed can chase the goblins down which she does with ease.As they are making no attempt to defend themselves she can take them down with impunity

Just realised no-one in this party speaks goblin...which is going to make things interesting...however Jael still has one language slot available if you want to retcon it to goblin well and good

Alisebett,

Paizo PF 7 Living Doll Final avatar

Ali will make sure she leaves at least one Goblin alive

And what or Who were the goblins pouring glass over??

Not being able to speak Goblin and not being very interested or even aware of interrogation techniques, Ali will instead look for the woman they came to rescue

Taldor Wellard (Pathfinder Companion Subscriber),

X 4 Ghost-Dwarf avatar

The wolf places herself between the door and the goblins who, caught as they are between her and the others, collapse in surrender.

The goblins appear to have been pouring glass on the dismembered bodies of up to eight people ...a ninth person, an older man has been arranged in a chair in the middle alcove and is fully encased, chair and all. It's almost as if he has been made a bizzare decoration.

Muchorak "Windstriker",

Guard-captain-blacklock avatar

(OOC How many Goblins remain alive?)

Muchorak moves to the surrending Goblins, his weapon still at the ready, "I don't suppose anyone can speak to these creatures?"

Jacendar,

Heads 2 avatar

Wellard wrote:

Consider Jael Retconned. ;)

"I can." The handsome Varisian man replied to his muscular compatriot. "Though their tongue sickens me - it is not pleasant to listen to, or speak."

Pointing his bloody blade at the goblin he had just wounded, Jael speaks in a guttural, brutish tongue.

"O Daagaan! Dec o akhan ghac-duul? Duun an rhuun?"

Translation:

Spoiler:
You there! Why you attack man-town? Who is boss?

Inikai,

Pathfinder 9 Monk avatar

Inikai examines the furnaces if they are still fired. His fire resistance should protect him from the heat. If he does not suffer injury he reaches in to pull out a coal with his bare hand in plain sight of the goblins.

In common to his compatriots:"If they are reluctant to speak I can do something that should frighten them a great deal. Tell them I will climb into the furnaces and pull them in with me." [/ooc]

Taldor Wellard (Pathfinder Companion Subscriber),

X 4 Ghost-Dwarf avatar

Currently there are two goblins on their feet(one badly wounded) three goblins are staggered(on 0 HP)and three more are bleeding out.

The goblins eyes widen as Inaki demonstrates his mastery of fire. The unwounded one turns to Jael with fear in his eyes and babbles.

Ootha kuduja sanath...Jarig suthok ferastaz....Repnugga hotha sadarva rhuun..Mawneka sheleshtlo gandatharg Dasttoga.

Jael

Spoiler:
basic translation..."Spare our lives ands I will tell all. Ripnugget rules and is boss..but there is more you need to know Longshanks"

At this point a squad of the watch burst into the room...their reaction upon seeing what has happened varies from relief at not having to fight to one young lad being noisily ill in a corner.

The Squad Commander a grizzled old veteran approaches you. You notice that all the watch seem to be either too old or too young

Alisebett,

Paizo PF 7 Living Doll Final avatar

Ali remains in her wolf form, keeping an eye on her prisoners and an ear on teh goings on

Muchorak "Windstriker",

Guard-captain-blacklock avatar

Muchorak moves to intercept the Watch Commander, gesturing to the deceased "Can you or your men identify the dead here? I believe families should be notified and the Sherriff."

Taldor Wellard (Pathfinder Companion Subscriber),

X 4 Ghost-Dwarf avatar

The sergeant looks around and shakes his head sadly..

"This is a bad business Sir and no mistake..thats nine families in this town will have to bury their dead. "

He looks at the man on the seat and his eyes open wide.

"Desna save us 'tis Lord Kaijutsu himself..who could have done such a thing"

At this point the Mayor and Bethana the barmaid enter together with more watchmen..again a mixture of youths and older men

"Where is she cries Bethana.."Where's my mistress"

Jacendar,

Heads 2 avatar

"I Feel the loss of these poor people, I truly do." Said Jael, his voice filled with sincerity. "Though I get the feeling this goblin can tell us more. Like who we are up against. Or if there are any survivors." He said, turning his attentions back to the still alive goblin he had been speaking to.

"Ar o daach an ach o muul, o ghuul kegaan. An daagaan akec okaan o huukec magaac'd mel'daal or? Agaan daagaan akec or or dhec tech akuur?"

Taldor Wellard (Pathfinder Companion Subscriber),

Jael

Spoiler:
The Goblin is telling the truth..well as much truth as any goblin can be expected to tell

Bethana approaches Muchorak..."Please Sir you must find Miss Amieko..who knows what her brother might have done to her..especially if..."

She looks towards the glass encased figure of Lord Kaijutsu

"...You have to hurry..please" The Halfling woman seems close to tears

Muchorak "Windstriker",

Guard-captain-blacklock avatar

Muchorak looks to the Varisian interrogating the Goblins, "What have you learned?" He turns his attention back to the Watch Commander, "Can you secure these surviving Goblins?"

Muchorak looks to Wolf Spirit and the rest of the group, "We should press on with searching the compound."

Inikai,

Pathfinder 9 Monk avatar

"It sounds like Amieko's brother is directing the goblins. Can you guardsmen surround the building and raise a cry if anyone but us comes out of it?"

Inikai looks around the room to see if there is anything else out of place here. He is especially interested in containers of oil or highly flamable items that can be used as weapons.

Search Check: 19

Alisebett,

Paizo PF 7 Living Doll Final avatar

Once the guard takes over watch of the prisoners, Ali will begin to sniff and search out the rest of the compound for any sign of the woman or anyone else.

The guards move to secure the goblins who are wounded..they arent gentle but keep the little bastards concious at least. The mayor nods and orders that the building be surrounded.

Inakai...there is little highly flammable stuff here just molten glass if you want to use it..there might be something in another part of the building that will better suit your purpose

Inikai,

Pathfinder 9 Monk avatar

Inikai will just stick to his morning star for now.

Taldor Wellard (Pathfinder Companion Subscriber),

X 4 Ghost-Dwarf avatar

Ali can find little in the way of scent in this room apart from goblins and death.

Ali

Spoiler:
are you going off on your own or waiting for the rest of the party

Muchorak "Windstriker",

Guard-captain-blacklock avatar

Muchorak will accompany Wolf Spirit in her search.

ok please tell me which door of the furnace room you are leaving by

Inikai,

Pathfinder 9 Monk avatar

Wellard wrote:

I say the southeastern door all the way across the room. Does one set of doors actually lead into the furnace?

Alisebett,

Paizo PF 7 Living Doll Final avatar

I agree with Iniaki. Looking to Big Bear and her packmates, Ali heads to, and through if she senses nothing, the SE doors. she is still in wolf form.

Taldor Wellard (Pathfinder Companion Subscriber),

X 4 Ghost-Dwarf avatar

one door does indeed close the furnace off from the main room

Ali's keen hearing detects nothing beyond the door and passng through it the party finds itself in what appears to be a loading room of some sort. one door leads back to the outside of the building. where the others lead is anyones guess

A wheelbarrow sits against a wall here, and shelves on the walls contain additional reagents to create different colors of glass (manganese for clear glass, cobaltfor blue, and tin for white glass; untreated glass is green, while too much of any reagent makes black glass). A safe on the floor hangs open

"Let's uncover the windows in any room we pass through. That way if anyone follows us they will be observed by the guards outside."

Is the safe empty?

Wellard:

Spoiler:
I made a mistake, Inikai's fire resistance is 10 not 15. I made corrections to some of the vestiges in the file that I sent to you. If you like, I can resend it.

Muchorak "Windstriker",

Guard-captain-blacklock avatar

"Agreed, these creatures seem not to like the light of day." Muchorak moves to the northern door one hand on the handle, "Is everyone ready?"

Once everyone is ready he will open the door sword at the ready.

Alisebett,

Paizo PF 7 Living Doll Final avatar

Ali growls her readiness

Inikai,

Pathfinder 9 Monk avatar

Inikai looks behind them quickly to check for enemies sneaking up. Then he nods that he is ready to go through the door as well.

I started a journal of the campaign here if anyone is bored with nothing to read.

Muchorak "Windstriker",

Guard-captain-blacklock avatar

Nodding back to his companions Muchorak opens the door, weapon at the ready for possible assailants hidden beyond the door.

Taldor Wellard (Pathfinder Companion Subscriber),

X 4 Ghost-Dwarf avatar

Murchorak throws open the door to reveal.....a set of stairs going down into the earth.

map update

Muchorak "Windstriker",

Guard-captain-blacklock avatar

"Shall we go down?", looking down the stairs can we see any light? Basic question here, do we need to provide a light source or is there illumination from below?

Taldor Wellard (Pathfinder Companion Subscriber),

X 4 Ghost-Dwarf avatar

There are dimly lit lanterns along the wall of the stairs..barely enough to see by.

Muchorak "Windstriker",

Guard-captain-blacklock avatar

Muchorak will remove a torch from his pack and light it, placing the torch in his off hand and his Longsword in his right, he will proceed down the stairs into the unknown...

Inikai,

Pathfinder 9 Monk avatar

Did you intend to show that much of the lower floors? I looked away when I noticed it. You might want to check again and white-out the rooms after the stairway.

Inikai also lights a torch in his free hand.

"Let's find out what is down there."

Taldor Wellard (Pathfinder Companion Subscriber),

X 4 Ghost-Dwarf avatar

Revised expanded map all other interior maps have been removed

The watch are searching the rest of the upper building...it would appear the basement is yours to explore.

Alisebett,

Paizo PF 7 Living Doll Final avatar

Not needing much light to see by, Ali darts ahead of Big Bear in her Wolf form, her senses alert for any sign of...anything.
Listen=27(Nat 20)
Spot=8

I definitely prefer the Pathfinder system of Perception which includes the various senses as opposed to the 3.5 system btw, just makes more sense.

Taldor Wellard (Pathfinder Companion Subscriber),

X 4 Ghost-Dwarf avatar

I agree with you ..but this started as a 3.5 game and I'd like to keep it as such until we have this portion of the adventure over with..at which point we will consider if we want to upgrade to Pathfinder Beta.

Alis keen ears detect no sounds from the tunnels below she moves quickly discovering a number of closed doors before returning to the party(Alis route shown in red..I think its in her character to go leaping off impulsivly without back up..so forgive me this one little bit of godmoding)

The tunnels appear to be storage spaces of some sort being stacked with crates and barrels...most of those appear to hold sand judging by the leakage from them

Muchorak "Windstriker",

Guard-captain-blacklock avatar

When Wolf Spirit returns, "Did you find anything?"

Alisebett,

Paizo PF 7 Living Doll Final avatar

No worries Wellard, I couldn't agree more, that's just like Ali, the little scamp! ;-)
The wolf begins to shake it's head in answer to Big Bear's question then growls in frustration a bit. Instantly it's a tiny female Gnome again and she says "No No Ali no see nothing. But many doors! We go check? Yes yes!"
Ali gives them a quick run down of the layout she saw (IE Check the map ;-)

Wellard, I'm assuming that seeing/hearing nothing included a quick check of each door?

Muchorak "Windstriker",

Guard-captain-blacklock avatar

Muchorak ruffles some of the hair on Wolf Spirits head, then kneels down to her height, "Choose a door Wolf Spirit, we shall follow." With that Muchorak stands weapon at the ready, torch in his off hand and follows Wolf Spirit to whichever door she chooses to open first.

Inikai,

Pathfinder 9 Monk avatar

"I'm ready"

Wellard:

Spoiler:

Inikai will activate his fire aura (damage 1d6)if anything attacks him with natural weapons or tries to grapple him. Also, the aura gives off light equal to a torch and does not burn inanimate objects unless Inikai will it to.
