Spoiler:
I dont have engineering but have Knowledge(Dungeon) if that will help. If so: Rolled 20(d20)+3=23 bahh...probably wasted that 20.

I will take rear guard if there are no objections.

Spoiler:

dwarven mines are usually very sturdy and very well build with all kinds of traps at key points; goblins are very destructive and tend to break things just so they can watch them be destroyed even if watching tends to get them killed in the process; these dwarven mines are very very old and this area is known to have places where the sand gives way and sometimes sucks in travelers as a roof of a large chamber perhaps gives way. This is probably and air shaft that leads to many places; probably only a crawl space until you find a central chamber; might be spiders, rats or shakes in the tunnels or other small vermin or creatures. Time is of the essence here; you party should either enter or run with any Tunnel Fighters up front.

You scamper down quickly with skill that makes it look very easy; you pass through brick and stone for 40 ft and land in an air shaft that you can nearly stand in; it is 3ft high and 3ft wide; others will have to crawl.

some bugs and squeeks move back from your light; the floor is a bit damp; your not alone down here...

There was an agreeing sound from Desidera, nodding her head in agreement. "Both you and I, ilioula." Desidera had far more theoretical knowledge of ships and shipping than descending potentially hostile holes. She was wearing frown and a slight blush, embarrassed at her omission of a second thing that given her background, she should have had with her. Those things would be getting added at the next opportunity, she decided.

"I trust there is no opposition to myself going down third?" She was already checking the straps on her pack, and making sure that the kit was secured tightly.

Valegrim,

39 Efreeti avatar

Um, I s'pos we would be wantin' Gloisil at the rear o' the march? Seein' as he's also got the build of a right naffy spelunker? (^.~)

Sunet again gives Merrik quick hug before twisting the end of the rope around one slender arm and then working her way backwards into the shaft to be lowered to Bob. Once down, she scrunches into a tangle of limbs, lets go the rope and peers about in the wan light of Bob's lantern.

Climb Check, Take Ten:10+4+2(Fer being ably assisted (^.~) = 16

"Well, t'is cosy enough." She whispers, aware of how her voice might travel in such an enclosed space and grins, "Not sayin' I'd be makin' a home here but it's certainly got it's more 'intimate' aspects t' th' size o' th place." As she waits for the next person down Sunset unlimbers her pack and pulls her own bulls-eye lantern out, setting it with oil and glad for Bob's unhampered help at sticking a light in the device.

Oh, an 'nuther question? Are we at th' very bottom o' th' hole? Or in side tube an' the shaft continues deeper? Just askin. ^_^

Desidera Tahn,

S 02 Battle In Bloodsworn V avatar

Desidera approached the rope with some trepidation. With the amount of things that she was carrying, lowering herself down the rope was a rather scary proposal. Murmuring a quiet prayer to Apollo, she took a hold of the rope and did her best to imitate Sunset's method of descending the rope. 1d20 ⇒ 14

A shaky sigh slipped from her the second her feet touched ground, relieved that she made the descent without incident. Her heart felt like it was about to leap through her chest and out of her armor, never mind the beads of sweat that dotted her brow and upper lip. When she let go of the rope, Desidera had to take an extra second to unwind her hands from the rope and calm her shaking hands. The sea was one thing, being away from the light of the sun was something different, and she looked a bit forlornly up at the open hole, loath to leave the narrow beam of light.

Sunset (Pathfinder Modules Subscriber),

Sunset reaches out an taps Desidera on the ankle,

"C'mon then, luv! Lest ye'll have a Gnome on yer head any minute now!" She says in a hissing whisper, before again turning to Bob and indicating that the Half-ling moves a little to make some more space for folks to come in. Wiggling around Sunset does her best to adjust her position withing the cramped and confining space.

"Except fer th' stonem t'is just like sneakin' about inside ships hold. They've places wi' about this much space." She winks at Bob.

"C'mon! the sooner were away, the sooner Merrik and Brother Kedan can get t' scarperin'!"

Valegrim,

The wind begins to howl in the shaft; a low droaning sound building up as each person enters the shaft; the air pressure builds up around you and blows in your face causing hair and cloths to flap a bit as the air rushes out from somewhere deep inside the cool, deep, dark dungeon....

<Gloisel and Mogue up next :)

ok; not much room to manuever or get past anyone inside the shaft; but if need be; one can climb the chimney with the rope to shuffle at this point; I will need a final marching order before you guys move down the shaft.>

Mogue,

Good luck to you both, be safe.

Valegrim,

39 Efreeti avatar

ok; after everyone climbs down; Merrick and Kedan close the grate with a squeel and a click; then they start placing the rocks and bushes back so some dirt and rock filters down on everyone unless they move down the tunnel; it gets dark also an the wind slow a bit when the grate closes.

This tunnel goes two direction; north and south. What does the party do?

Galen Stormwalker,

A 14 Elf Guard Captain HIGHR avatar

sorry i have not posted for a few days,

Galen says, lets go south,I will take the lead as stealth will be impossible with us having a light source, I am probably the most able to withstand being attacked, unless someone wants to go infront of me and check for traps?

(Galen will be armed with sword and sheild)

Valegrim,

39 Efreeti avatar

Game Note: There is no room to swing a sword; only small weapons like daggers and spear like things or missle weapons like Xbows. For small characters like gnomes and halfings using small weapons; they may act normally.

medium sizes also loose their dex bonus in this crawlway, except for monks who wouldnt.

Bob Proudfoot,

Bumbo avatar

I might as well take lead, I can check for traps and attack as well as I normally can.

Valegrim,

39 Efreeti avatar

The party goes south having a few minor skirmishes with cenipedes and rats and a snake or two <nothing of enough size or number or ferocity to constitute a need for any rolls or exps>. After drugeing along underground it is discovered this is a dead end0- cave in; and having no way to turn around; the party changes facing and the rear becomes the front and everyone must move back the way they came with worries of possible cave in on the back of their minds.

Going north the party moves for a couple hours passing a few heavy iron grates without hinges or locks looking for the main air shaft.

Snap and Woosh; the ground rumbles and begins to shift and sink and the tunnel falls a bit and slants down at about a 50 degree angle and the party members start a wild slide ride. The tunnel being well build and sturdier than the dirt and sand it was placed in stays together and deposits the party underground in the middle of a great hallway which is about 100ft wide and a 100ft high; there is only one direction to go as a mass of sand fills the other end of the hall and perhap rooms beyond; did the cieling just give way? questions about of the how and why but the only thing for certain now is the party is lost underground with no visible light to show an exit.

The party rolls down the sand and dirt into the hallway proper right before the tunnel which provided safe haven collapses and is buried under still piling rubble.

The sound of this cave in and the rumbles of perhaps a few others can be heard and felt.

The hall is grey stone and dwarven built; their are bits of trash; bones; rotten cloth and the like strewn about and the stink of machinery; solvents, and gobbies abounds.

<everyone in light or no armor; take 2 pts damage; medium; 1 pt; heavy; no points from scrapes and sliding and banging into the stone tunnel during the ride. Items that can; break loose from characters, but with a bit of search <dc10> can be recovered from the sand and rubble.>

Sunset (Pathfinder Modules Subscriber),

A 9 Trinia avatar

Sunset sits up woozily, trying to shake the worst of the sand from her hair.

"Fek an' buggeit! Worse'n bein' thrown off'n me board an' dumped on'a shore line!" She mutters. Patting herself down she checks her lantern and searches to make sure none of her gear has come loose.

So, our lanterns are still shinin', like? We's still got some illumination, yup? Sunset looks around even as she gets up to a least a kneeling position.

Perception Check:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

"How's every one else doin'? No one got nothin' broken, t'uther than m'by a little pride?" She looks to Galen, Mogue and Desidera to see how they have fared. She trusts Bob and Gloisil's 'natural' talents to have kept the compact folk safe from harm, more so than the bigger clots who've just been dumped by the piping collapse.

2nd Perception Check:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

"I left th' ocean t' stop gettin' sand all twixt me nithers!" She grouses softly as she begins to shake her pants free of the invading grit.

Desidera Tahn,

S 02 Battle In Bloodsworn V avatar

As the hours pass, Desidera's nerves calm somewhat, moderating themselves to a significant dislike of having a lack of sky above her head and a lack of sun by default. Her meager attempt to keep a map in her head was dispelled with the rumblings, and despite her best efforts, she could not help but scream a bit as the tunnel turned into a slide, stopping once they all found floor. As everything seemed to be settled, a careful touch to the end of her staff and a murmured chant of, "Helios. Helios. Helios", separated the "bright" feeling from her soul, her quarterstaff starting to glow in a warm golden light. ~casting light~

The staff got planted in the pile of sand, reorienting herself and taking inventory. Her pack was still on her back, but the securing of her kit and bedroll had come loose, and it took her a minute of searching to find it again. Besides several scrapes and an abrasion or two, she was fine, having more luck shaking the sand from her skirt, though her shirt was going need removal to be completely clear. One hand went to her hair, grimacing at the feel of sand there as well, though she was relieved to find that the golden lyre hanging by a thong was still there, if somewhat askew.

"I am... well enough", she conceded, beginning to shake loose what sand she could as everyone else reoriented themselves. The thong was undone and held in her mouth as she shook out her hair. "Though I do suspect that our next question is 'Where are we now?'"

She would have to ask later, if she could work up the nerve. Likely, it was an accident. What other reason could there be? Then again, she could remember hearing some stories about the Sea Elves that would lend credence to her actions, but this was neither on the shore, nor the time of a special tide that she knew of, and all of them were not under a new moon...

Shaking her head, she rebound her hair, and set about gathering the spare pieces that had come unattached from her pack.

The suddenness of seeing a nearby form startled her, and she dropped her kit with a squeak, fumbling for the dagger at her waist before the -- warrior began speaking. She shook her head at the language, hearing more of his tone, but his tabard, she could understand somewhat, though currently she was drawing a blank.

So she remained where she was, eyes wide, but shaking her head with incomprehension of what was just said.

"Hail an' well met t'yer self there!" ^_^ She grins cheerfully, hunkering down behind DM's description and takes a bead upon the door from which the scurrying and cursing of Gobbies is emanating from.

"Tell ye what, since we seem t' be a wee tad pressed fer time, whut say we all get t' th' business o' meetin' an' greetin' th' comes whut may? an' later then we c'n all get t' know each other better, hey?" Sunset begins to sing a chirpy tune in competition to the Goblins noise.

Galen Stormwalker,

A 14 Elf Guard Captain HIGHR avatar

Galen will move between the party and the stranger and he will do a detect evil on him.

"well Met! I am Galen Stormwalker, Paladin and Knight of Freya! I hope you have not killed all the goblins, we will have come a long way for nothing!"

Gloisil Murigel,

"Elsdyn, not that we have time to go into your story in length at the moment, but I would very much like to hear your tale of how you found yourself to be in this place and alone. But as we now are about to be inundated by goblins, I think that we will just have to have some trust in each other that we are on the same side."

"We have had one tussle with goblins already this day, but are now ready for another."

Gloisil is still standing ready with a Magic Missile spell. He will use it on the first person or creature that threatens the party.

Elsdyn lowers his guard, though he wears a helmet it is clear he is smiling underneath. He steps aside into the hall so those may enter the room, but keeps his eyes down the hall for signs of attack.

"Well met Sir Galen I reckognize him? Nobility and Royalty roll: 15 +5=20 and comrades, providence provides for both of us it seems and we shall make the most of her kindness. I shall be glad to tell my story once the danger has passed, for now quickly into the room, though also a dead end like behind thee there is ample food for a long seige if need be as well as the limited access of the door. If there be non-combatents in thy group, I can open the secret door that hides the food, they should be save enough in there for the time being."

Hearing the goblin noises get closer; "Too bad we have not the time to prepare, fooling these creatures is easy enough and would save our resources for the future. It appears your entrance was similar to mine and our way out is only in a direction we know not."

For those detecting, he seems to be simply speaking his thoughts with no apparent subterfuge. Have to let the GM respond about the detect evil.

I gather it up and light my lantern, placiing it on the ground in front of me to one side and point it toward the door that the doomed gobbies will be coming out of, ready my sling and wait for the rif-raf to arrive.

Desidera Tahn,

S 02 Battle In Bloodsworn V avatar

Well, considering everyone else was moving to join the armored and armed individual who at a guess was likely had sentiments along the same vein as she, Desidera scooped up her kit and bedroll, snagging her waterskin with one gesture. The the still-glowing staff was managed with a bit of difficulty, and she juggled the lot rather hastily, if somewhat clumsily towards the indicated entrance. The jury was still out on the.. Noble, she figured, intending to get a better look at his heraldry once the imminent threat of goblin was dealt with.

She took her belongings to the back of the passageway, and dropped them there, shucking her pack off as well, and leaving it atop the others. Sunset's singing was pleasantly uplifting, and buoyed by it, she could not help the small grin that she wore. Granted, she may have not particularly wanted to leave the sunlit surface, this would make for a fine tale sometime in the near future.

There was no shame in holding at the rear. Her true value in combat was not her skill with weapons, but her skill with wounds.

T'ain't that dark, Desidra's shinnin' way 'nough light fer folks t' be gettin' by. :P

Gloisil follows everyone else into the indicated room, still prepared to cast a spell if needed. He too smiles, just a slight tug at the corners of his mouth, at the song that Sunset is singing. Although not changing the glum appearance that he usually wears on his face much, he would break out in a dance if not for the threat of goblins near by.

He looks to be a squire; you do not recognise any of the heralding markings other than they are in the correct place and show some houses you have not heard about.

Motive; seems in a hurry but not overly concerned with more concern down the hallway than from the party.

Desidera could only manage a slight gasp at Sunset's attentions, completely at a loss for words. It seemed like she was looking for something, but what it had been, only the Gods knew.

So she remained where she was, eyes wide, but shaking her head with incomprehension of what was just said.

understand the speach? well this is of great interest to you; you see his lips moving but what you hear is not in synch with what you hear; you understand him speaking but he is obviously not mouthing those words; could it be the Kirin's blessing; hmm.
