The Shrouded Eye
GM Eoin,

Cover Character 1 avatar

You and Darinar have yet to go. See the order above. Shaan went out of turn, but thats fine, I'll have the events happen in order. Just post regularily so we can keep up the pace.

Eljah Roondar,

R 1-Riddleport-Opener avatar

Ok, if we an post out of order then Eljah's actions will be as follows:

Eljah lets out a gasp of surprise as the spiked chain wielding humans burst through the door. His small hands move quickly and smoothly in set patterns as he finishes his arcane incantation with a flourish. "Acve bonu-WA!" he says as he opens his palm towards the two men. A flourish of colorful and blinding lights leap out towards "3" and "4". Eljah then moves towards the kitchen door, waiting to see what happens next.

Spoiler:
Casting Color Spray (DC 16) at the 2 that just burst in through the front, then moving towards the kitchen door.

GM Eoin,

Cover Character 1 avatar

Okay, If Darinar can't get a post up by tomorrow evening I'll post for him, sorry for things moving slow guys.

GM Eoin,

Cover Character 1 avatar

Darinar steps forward to attack no.3, dropping him with his blade, Eljah has just cast Color Spray but Darinar resists and no.4 falls unconcious and blinded to the ground. Finally, Shaan shoots and drops the last remaining enemy, no.2 on the stairs.

That's the end of combat, back to normal.

Shaan Hawkeyes,

A 16 Verik-Vankaskerkin avatar

"I knew I should have watched the house longer", says Shaan angrily, moving quickly to the blinded and unconscious man.
He then turns him face down, pats him for weapons, then takes a pair of manacles from his belt and ties him down.

Manacles, DC 30 escape artist check to get free

"Here, that should keep him nicely when he comes back to himself.
Oh damn ! Our host ! How is he ?"
, he says turning towards Nevil and the Knight.

Nevil of Otterdale,

Belzken Monk Final avatar

Nevil rushes to check to old man.

Andreas Vaughn,

Dungeon 114 Rogue TOC avatar

Concerned by the lack of response to his earlier question, Andreas quickly stows his weapon and makes his way to Gesrio. "Let's hope he hasn't left us in favor of greater adventures beyond this plane." He kneels beside the man to examine his wound. It would be in extremely poor taste for a host to leave a party before one's guests, after all. Wouldn't you agree, Old Man?"

OOC:
If Gesrio is alive but unresponsive, expend a use of lay on hands to heal him.

Standard Action
Lay on Hands

  • Healing Roll: 1d6 = 4
  • GM Eoin,

    Cover Character 1 avatar

Andreas heals the old man with Shelyn gifted power, but he still lays unconcious, and his body seems wracked by some torment.

    Make a Heal check.

    Shaan Hawkeyes,

    A 16 Verik-Vankaskerkin avatar

Is he still breathing ?, asks Shaan, Maybe he's been poisonned. You should check his eyes. They turn grey when you take their "shadowveil" drug.

As Shaan is not directly examining Gesrio, Heal check to aid either Andreas or Nevil
    Heal check (1d20+5=19).
    Should give them a +2.

With that assumption, Shaan will leave the bound man by Darinar to look for the crossbow and any remaining bolts. It should be either with ennemy 1 or ennemy 2. He will proceed with care as he does not want to poison himself.

    Eljah Roondar,

    R 1-Riddleport-Opener avatar

Eljah opens the kitchen door, looking to see if anyone is waiting to spring out. He then moves over towards the captured man on the floor, looking him over curiously. After a moment, he begins a soft arcane incantation and points his pinky finger at the man's crotch. With a grin, he walks over towards Gesario, snickering to himself at the soiled area on the intruder's trousers. "How is he?" he says with concern in his voice.

    Spell Cast:
Casting Prestidigitation to soil the captured man's trousers.

    Yep sould be.

Heel check total with +2 from Shaan = 23.

    Osirion Reinala Denson - Bard,

    A 02 Plague Crowd HIGHRES 1 avatar

Reinala mutters in frustration and pain as she grabs a napkin off the table to staunch her wound. Looking at the still bodies and ignoring the unconscious one, she attempts to find something that will identify them, reciting prayer litanies to Pharasma as she goes about her work.

    Search bodies for identification. (1d20+8=21)

    GM Eoin,

    Cover Character 1 avatar

Xabulba: He has been poisoned with blue whinnis, and will wake up after a small while, though the poison has wracked his body.

Reinala: In searching the men you pull back one's hood, drawing back in disgust as they have drooled all over their fronts. The leering unconcious faces have no lips and the tips of their tongues are removed, giving them a hideous eternal grin.
They all wear black cloaks over black studded leather armor and each bears a spiked chain.
All three of the fighters felled in combat still breath shallowly.
The one tied up by Shaan and effected by Eljah's spell remains unconcious.

Shann looks in disgust as Reinala pulls back the hoods. "Was that done to prevent them from speaking if they are captured or just to please a sick maniac ? I haven't found any crossbow or spare bolt, which means there may still be someone else upstairs. Anyone coming with me ?"

Shaan will climb upstairs to look for other intruders and find how they came in the house.

"The latter, I'm afraid. Disfigurement is common among the followers of Zon-Kuthon, as is the use of the spiked chain. It would appear Gesrio's claim of a cult operating within the city is accurate."

Glancing to Nevil, the Taldan man continues. "It would appear they've been able to operate even without the temple of Gorum's notice. A significant achievement, wouldn't you say, cleric?"

  • Skill Check: 1d20+7 = 10

With a result of 10 I'm going to assume Andreas is familiar with the basic practices of the worshipers of Zon-Kuthon. Especially as the Midnight Lord is the brother of his own deity.

Vaughn's sarcasm is missed by Nevil, "Indeed the situation is more dire than suspected we must investigate further."

    @Shaan:

    Spoiler:

You find the crossbow lying at the head of the stairs, a hatch down from the attic hangs open, and a breeze drifts down from it.

    @Andreas:

    Spoiler:

The disfigurement is common among followers of Zon-Kuthon, especially those fanatics local to Nidal, it is almost certainly self-inflicted as the cuts are very neat, and cut to spefically mimic a grin.

Gesrio begins to stir on the ground.

    Shaan Hawkeyes,

    A 16 Verik-Vankaskerkin avatar

They came through the roof and down from the attic, but I don't want to try to track them back without light, says Shaan closing the hatch from where the attackers arrived.
I'll have a look in the morning.

Shaan walks down the stairs to the others. Maybe we should put our host in his bed or in one of the armchairs by the fire. I would be better for him.

Turning towards Andreas and pointing at the bound agressor, he adds :You seemed to know the house. Do you know if there is a cave or a cellar where we could secure this thug. I don't think it would be good for him to hear what Gesrio wanted to tell us.

    Eljah Roondar,

    R 1-Riddleport-Opener avatar

Eljah waits to see if Nevil or any of the others have something for Gesario's condition then peeks back into the kitchen again and looks for something to eat halfheartedly. Realizing there's probably no justification for eating at the moment, he looks at the rest of the haphazard band in the room. "So does this mean we're adventurers now? I mean, if it does, well that's just...just...WOW! I never thought I'd get a chance to make a job change. Working in the potion shop was really unfulfilling , you know. Did you realize that old codger wanted me to sweep up every night before I left? Oh, by the way, what did you think of that spell I cast? Was the red too dark? Because I can lighten it a bit. Anyway, like I have time to mess with sweeping up good clean, dirt after toiling all day..." Eljah once again realizes he is rambling and stops himself. "So fellow adventurers," he says with a toothy grin, "Where do we head now?"

    GM Eoin,

    Cover Character 1 avatar

The bound thug becomes concious, and begins to struggle in his bonds, however he is still very disorientated and his eyes seem to be masked by a riot of colours that blind him.

    Nevil of Otterdale,

    Belzken Monk Final avatar

"Gesrio are you still with us?"

    GM Eoin,

    Cover Character 1 avatar

The old man stirs, muttering weakly.

    'The bucket in the kitchen...'

Meanwhile the bound man's struggles become more frantic, though he remains blinded.

"So fellow adventurers," he says with a toothy grin, "Where do we head now?"

Listening to the Eljah's ramblings, a smile creeps to Shaan's lips and he feels the tension slowly leave him. "You know, Eljah, I'm afraid sweeping will still be required in your new job." While talking, he moves towards the struggling prisoner and draws his sap. "We should sort this one out when we have all the information we need from our host," he says as he knocks the prisoner senseless.

I'm guessing it's allowed to do that with a weapon dealing only non lethal damage.

He then hauls the three copses near in the alcove of the house. Come on, Eljah, help me with them. That's what us, people of the Shadow are good at, sweeping and cleaning," he says with a smile as he piles the corpses weapons and armor in another corner of the room.

    Nevil of Otterdale,

"Some look over Gesrio, he's asking for a bucket."
Nevil then heads to the kitchen and for an unusal filled bucket.

    GM Eoin,

When Nevil brings the bucket to Gesrio, he promptly throws up in it in an undignified manner. Looking pale and wan, he looks around at his guests.

'I think now you understand the severity of the situation,' he smiles weakly.

'So what of it? Are you willing to help an old man solve a problem and save a city's soul?'

    Andreas Vaughn,

    Dungeon 114 Rogue TOC avatar

Andreas shakes his head at Shaan's inquiry. "I'm familiar with the master of this house, not the place itself. Still, I trust you and the gnome will find what you need."

Turning back to their host, the young Taldan man offers Gesrio a response. "I'll help, but this attack means the cultists are aware of you. Your home isn't safe. Do you have anywhere else we could take you, somewhere a little less publicly known?" The paladin lets slip a mischievous smile. "From what you've told me I can't imagine any Pathfinder, even one retired, that wouldn't have several locations in which to to seek refuge should the need arise."

    Osirion Reinala Denson - Bard,

    A 02 Plague Crowd HIGHRES 1 avatar

As the healing energies wash over her, Reinala is able to relax from the pain. She frowns as Shaan knocks out the remaining thug and says, "Well, suppose you let me try talking to him when next he wakes, hmm? He may appreciate my touch a bit more.

"As for you, Gesrio... I'll see where this goes. But when I don't like it, I walk."

    Eljah Roondar,

    R 1-Riddleport-Opener avatar

Eljah shrugs and gladly helps Shaan with the bodies. He then waits intently for the others to form a plan.

"You're welcome to it Reinala, I just wanted to have our host full story before talking to this guy. And I guess I'm just too used to work on my own.... Anyway, I doubt we will get anything from him. If he could mutilate himself so that he will never interact normally with people, he must be ready to die for his masters."

    Turning to Gesrio.
"As I've already told you, I'm listening Mr Temern. I'll help you as much as I can. But as your friend said, you should seek a safer haven once we're done here."

    GM Eoin,

I'm very sorry, I thoguht I had posted to this in the first three days of November. It must have been eaten by the postmonster.

Anyway, I'm really overworked at college right now, and running a PBP is more effort than playing one, especially one I wanted to write myself, I wan't getting enough time to put in the effort with the rough plot ideas and characters.

So I think I'll let this game go the way of the dodo. However, after christmas I might try again, with a written adventure, or something I'll plan properly over the holiday. If your interested at the time, I'd love to accomodate you guys.

Sorry it took me so long to realise the post wasn't here, and again I apologise, and thank you for playing this game, I enjoyed what little we did.
