Glory of Dhakann - A PbP PFRPG Eberron Campaign
Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

OK, that's good, the others can catch up from that point)

Qadira Kaega'ko - NPC,

27 Demon War 4 avatar

you hear the sultry, slightly husky voice of a female hobgoblin

"That won't be necessary Haruuc"

As she strides through the doorway, you can see an instrument slung over her shoulder...dirge-singer...

After she enters, a human wearing only a robe, sandals and many tattooes walks through with her. He has a satchel with books and scrolls slung over his left shoulder, and a staff in his left hand

The bugbears stand beside her waiting for orders, cautiously watching the room. As your eyes adjust you note they bear many scars of battle.

Brignat,

Jaggrath Color avatar

Brignat calmly stands up and lean against the wall while fingering his long bow. He scans the room looking for anything or one that seems a little too out-of-place or nervous. sense motive and perception checks: 1d20=3 1d20+2=15

Haruuc Dhakaan,

Pathfinder Cover 3 avatar

Surprised by the entrance of the Dirge Singer, Haruuc quickly notices her beauty and smiles. He lowers his hand and steps forward, bowing slighty to show his respect for her position. He glances at the human but pays him no mind, thinking him to be an obvious servant.
"You have me at a loss 'great voice'. You know me but yet I do not know you."
He moves towards her with confidence, ready to talk as somewhat equals.

Diplomacy Check. (wasn't sure whether to add +2 because she knows my noble status?) (1d20+7=10) Well that's not what I hoped for...

As you step forward, the two bugbears step in the way with their axes at the ready

"Surely you've heard of Kaega'ko, Haruuc..." Knowledge (local or history)

"Produce your letters honored ones!"

The human leans over and whispers in Kaega'ko's ear...and points to the druid, her eyes narrow as she focuses on the druid

"Glosh, Zech, get the rabble out of here...This tavern is under the Jurisdiction of the Lhesh Haruuc as of NOW! If you don't have leave to be here...the punishment is DEATH!, You have 30 seconds to remove yourself" With those words the goblins who were not told to produce letters panic even more than before, and begin to scramble for the exit...The two bugbears grabbing them and tossing them through the open doorway. She points at Ur-Kaim "You, may stay"

We'll pause this here til everyone has had a chance to react to this event...or til the morning if people are slow to react, I'll proceed to keep the game moving

You turn toward the table with the others...when suddenly the doors crash open reveling the silhouette of a 2 rather large bugbears wielding rather large axes...they come storming through the doors and begin looking around...

I dive backward off my chair dodging behind the nearist (wall, table, covering) and draw my bow as I do so (1d20+12=31 stealth)

No hide in plain sight, so you won't be able to hide effectivley.

Numerous goblins panic and start to run every which way

hence why i was diving behind the nearist cover, to get out of line of sight and be able to hide.

Drexel Morrow,

Dng 115 TOCSketch avatar

i move out from behind my "hiding spot" and procure my letter

Hruskin Gelddar,

Brass Dwarf avatar

Hruskin stands, bowing respectfully, but keeping his hammer in hand, just in case.

Knowledge local: 1d20+2=10

"My lady, I respectf'ly give you this. I was told to come here on this day and time, I mean no offense or harm. I live to serve." Hruskin holds forth his letter in his right hand, keeping his hammer down at his side in his left.

Brignat,

Jaggrath Color avatar

Brignat walks forward and gives them his writ. Bowing his head, "Here is my summons." Stepping back in military step, he awaits her orders.
I'm assuming this involves Dhakaani history & my word bearer trait applies: 1d20+4=17

Qadira Kaega'ko - NPC,

27 Demon War 4 avatar

Once the room has been cleared of the Rabble of goblins Kaega'ko waits for the missives to be delivered

"Malach says that you pointing to Ur-Kaim were the one who he saw that we could not contact, as your whereabouts were...unknown...Shekh v'taaka(what is your name?)"

"Malach in case you're wondering is a Dragon prophet, he is here because has seen in the prophecy a great even t is about to unfold which could break Darguun, or return the Glory of Dhakaan to us, the heirs of the first true empire, the time before humans ruled, before the Daelkyr nearly destroyed all of Eberron"

"Glosh, Zech, guard the entrances to this building, Malach and I are perfectly safe here" she says without so much as turning toward the bugbears.

With that the two bugbears depart the common room

She takes a seat at a larger table, and gestures for the rest of you to come and sit at that table, Malach stands behind her and to the right. Perception Check DC 15:

Spoiler:
some of the tatooes seem to writhe and twitch on their own

(to be continued, I want to keep it moving without leaving the other two in the dust.)

"I am Ur-Kaim of the house of Ur" I step forward with the rest of the group.

Qadira Malach - NPC,

"Ur-Kaim..."

The prophet closes his eyes and seems to digest the name...

In a think accent"ooWhat dahs eet mean...ooWhat dahs Kaim mean?"

Ur-Kaim,

Reincarnix Girallon Battle avatar

"It means Warden of madness, it is an old draconic title given to the first of my family, Hassnuk Ur"

Spoiler:

The tattooes appear to be draconic runes related to the prophecy, more symbols than words, the ancient dialect is beyond your skill. aka, they are there for descriptive purposes rather than part of the adventure

Anyone who scored a 10 or better can read the appropriate entries in Kaega'ko's profile

Malach was speaking in goblinoid, albeit with a heavy accent before.

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

Note: If I put a Skill Check:DCXX [[spoiler]]... you can read the spoiler if you succeed at the skill check.

you can obviously read the spoiler if you don't but, it won't be character knowledge and if I think you're acting with OOC knowledge I might just give you 0xp for that encounter, or target you with nastiness, like a vorpal-toothed bunny...aka..an ahkraap'ahkraap'omg-omg'k'toosh in goblinoid

Qadira Kaega'ko - NPC,

27 Demon War 4 avatar

We'll proceed without Rethal for now.

"From what Malach has indicated, the glory of dhakaan is at stake..."

"Akesh Dhakaani!"

"Listen to what Malach has to say now..."

Qadira Malach - NPC,

Varisia FINAL 2 B avatar

"I have been following the prophecy for a long time, this is a pivotal piece in the prophecy. I see several groups in conflict. The Heroes of Dhakaan being one of those groups..."

"The prophecy indicates a grand search, a search for the lost items of the ancient empire of Dhakaan, it's not clear but I see interaction on nearly every continent of Eberron, I see Daelkyr, I see rogue dragons, I see giants...darkness, chaos, blood..."

"I can say more at this time...my patron knowns other agents are already moving, trying to change the prophecy...so I was told to move."

"The next question is where....I have seen three locations so far...A location near the border of Cyre, a place Kaega'ko is familiar with from what I understand..."

"The second location is below Sharn" "The final location lies within the border of what is now Valenar, I need not tell you the danger within Valenar, the elves have no love for your race, and it's their land now."

Qadira Kaega'ko - NPC,

27 Demon War 4 avatar

"Malach has told me that while he sees three locations now, but that can change...the most important part of the prophecy is you...what you decide to do on the journey, the prophecy revolves around you, you revolve around the prophecy..."

Brignat,

Jaggrath Color avatar

"Tell me great dirgesinger," bowing, "to where in Cyre is it that we should go."

Qadira Malach - NPC,

Varisia FINAL 2 B avatar

"It is not where you must go...the choice is yours...the players are moving, the game has begun..."

"Kaega'ko has been to that location as she was at the battle, something was lost that day, but it was not missed, now it will be found, but by whom?"

Qadira Kaega'ko - NPC,

27 Demon War 4 avatar

Kaega'ko appears to look into the past...to her memories..."I led our forces against Cyre two weeks before the Day of Mourning, a glorious battle was fought, we won that day, but as we pressed into Cyre we were driven back...I was there on the Day of Mourning, we were camped on a hill overlooking the border, when it happened, we could hear the inhuman screams and then silence..." She looks morose "No one should die that way...no one."

She snaps out of her reverie.

"To travel there means travelling into the Mournland, I would escort you there, but other matters of the Lhesh Haruuc's court have precedence."

Hruskin Gelddar,

Brass Dwarf avatar

Hruskin clears his throat and speaks out: "I have heard it said that they Cyrans were makers of marvelous things. I'd like to see it all fer meself, if it's all the same."

Drexel Morrow,

Dng 115 TOCSketch avatar

Knowledge(local, cyre) 1d20+1=17

I hear that there are many magical, and unique items that have layn untouched since the day of mourning I would be willing to go just for a chance to find some of these things, if there is a chance to bring Glory to Dhakaan as well then count me as part of this party

Brignat,

Jaggrath Color avatar

"I beg your forgiveness Dirgesinger but what is it that we seek? A weapon? An instrument? A tome?"

Qadira Kaega'ko - NPC,

27 Demon War 4 avatar

"Unbeknownst to me, one of those who went into battle with me carried a relic from ancient Dhakaan, a dagger, possibly a kukri. When he fell in battle the relic was lost. Even I have not been able to identify it from the description given to me by his family. No hobgoblin has returned to that battlefield since the Day of Mourning. I can give you the location of the battlefield before the fall, but who knows if the weapon remains there."

NOTE: we will be using the Fast XP advancement Table

Ur-Kaim,

Reincarnix Girallon Battle avatar

What can you tell us of the rumors about the mournland? I hear tales of fogs the eat flesh, dead that fight their last battle over and over again and even stranger things.

Drexel Morrow,

Dng 115 TOCSketch avatar

are we getting RP exp too, or just encounter exp? and how often will we get it?

Haruuc Dhakaan,

Pathfinder Cover 3 avatar

Kaega'ko - NPC wrote:

"Listen to what Malach has to say now..."

Haruuc does not present his papers as asked. Kaega'ko knows who he is and so he is confident in his place within the proceedings.

He responds to Kaega'ko's statement with an answering call. "Akesh Dhakaani!" He then listens intently to what Malach has to say.

When Malach is finished he speaks up, "I will carry the name of the Dhakaani with honour as I go forth to complete these tasks and bring back the Glory of Dhakaan."

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

RP and participation XP will be rewarded. The more participation, the more XP

Qadira Kaega'ko - NPC,

27 Demon War 4 avatar

"I have never stepped foot in the "Mournlands."

"Of course from the tales I've heard and can recite, there are many horrors in the mists. Healing magic does not function properly, 'forged have begun to migrate to the Mournlands, they follow the banner of the Lord of Blades. Spells cast on the day of Mourning took on a life of their own, and still roam today. Creatures mutated, the dead rise to stalk those who dare to enter the mists..."

"The location of the Battle of Black Rock, is within the Field of Ruins, our forces were ready to enter the battle, as a Pincer Unit, to break the enemy units. Other forces from Darguun were battling the Cyrans, Brlenaders and Thrane on the Fields of Ruin."

"Had we not been an elite unit ready to strike, we would have been there during the Mourning..."

Brignat,

Jaggrath Color avatar

Bowing reverently, "Mighty Dirgesinger, how will we know the weapon? What is the fastest way to travel there? Is anyone else seeking the weapon that you know of?"

Drexel Morrow,

Dng 115 TOCSketch avatar

Such trivial things as "living spells" shall not keep us from our goals. we will emerge from the mournlands, richer, stronger, and better fortified then when we entered with the artifact in hand and praises for Dhakaan on our toungs, ready to hunt down and find the next artifact and slay any and all that get in our way.

will my favored enemy:arcanist give me the +2 against the spells too or does it only work against arcane spellcasters? I have the discription of how it works in my profile if you need to look over the wording or what not

Qadira Kaega'ko - NPC,

27 Demon War 4 avatar

Brignat wrote:
Bowing reverently, "Mighty Dirgesinger, how will we know the weapon? What is the fastest way to travel there? Is anyone else seeking the weapon that you know of?"

"You will know the weapon by it's ancient design I would guess, or perhaps you will feel it's presence once you're close enough. You will need to find the field where the dead have actually decayed somewhat, as I said, that battle took place 2 weeks before the Mourning, so those bodies would have decayed unlike those that fell on the day of mourning, look for them on the southwest edge of the field of ruin. I have a map of ancient Cyre and on it is marked the approximate location of the battle."

"Artifact? I doubt it Drexel, I would know an artifact by description, this is most likely a relic of the age, powerful yes, but not on par with a true artifact."

"I am always searching for information on Dhakaani relics and artifacts, in fact I sent a strike force to recover a known Dhakanni relic from an adventurer. I hope to hear of their glorious return before your return"

Favored:arcanist would not help against a living spell

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

The door opens and one of the bugbears enters

"Many apologies duur'kala, but it's time."

Qadira Kaega'ko - NPC,

27 Demon War 4 avatar

"Very well"

"I must attend to my other duties, stay the night here, eat, drink, for soon you leave on a mission for Akesh Dhakaan! Akesh Darguun!"

"In the morning I will have the map delivered, in addition to horses, fully laden with supplies for the journey."

she tosses a pouch of coin on the table "That should cover an additional items you may need for the mission"

She steps closer to Haruuc and whispers in his ear

Spoiler:
I look forward to seeing your progress Dhakaani, show your leadership in this endeavor

With that she turns and departs
You will find 100 platinum in the pouch

Qadira Malach - NPC,

Varisia FINAL 2 B avatar

Malach follows Kaega'ko, pauses before he leaves, and says without turning around

"It is uncertain, many factions seek many items in this game. I see possible death...be careful in the Mournlands, remember healing does not work normally there."

Then he departs

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

The elderly goblin pokes his head back in

"Good, good, place not broken...mighty duur'kala said give you free food and drink tonight, and safe rooms..."

with that he enters again, and heads behind the bar

you can hear the rest of the goblin staff entering through the back door.

Note: you have your full compliment of action points at the start of the game. I have additional uses for action points, I have 2 listed right now on my profile, so check it out, I will be adding more

Go ahead and figure out what else you might need, describe your evening, and then it will fade to black and be morning, if Rethal shows back up soon, then we'll flashback any questions he has.

Hruskin Gelddar,

Brass Dwarf avatar

Hruskin nods heavily after the woman leaves and walks back to his seat. "It seems like fate's decreed that we work together in this," He seems suddenly very serious, "I pledge my life and fortune to our success. If we should fail, I will be dead or broken beyond repair. For the glory of Dhakaan!"

Drexel Morrow,

Dng 115 TOCSketch avatar

After the Dirge Singer and Malach leave I address everyone at the table as i scoop up the pouch that the Dirge Singer left us and toss it into the air to catch, I smile as i hear the jingle of the coin and feel the weight of the pouch. "It looks as though we are set out to do great things, my new friends. I hope that we prove as useful to eachother as our employer seems to think that we are." I pull open the pouch and count the coins, pull out my share without consulting the others then toss the coins, once again, to the center of the table. I then go to the door and call my wolf in over to the table, taking advantage of or situation i order the bartender to give her one of his best cuts of meat raw, and the same for me, though cooked. I look over to Haruuc and ask "Are you going to share any of what you have in that bottle that the inn keep gave to you or do you plan to drink it all your self?"

there are 5 of us correct? my share would be 20 plat?

As you say that, the goblin wench brings over more bottles of the "good stuff"

"HeRE yOu GO!, FounD mORe In tHEe BaCk roOOom" In her annoying screeching voice. hyahyahya" (Think Fran Dresher)

there are 6 of you actually. Just Rethas hasn't been on since last week, so 16 each with 4 left over would be the specific split...there are however 4 hobgoblins/2 goblins I think...

Drexel Morrow,

Dng 115 TOCSketch avatar

then I will be taking 17 plat :)

Drexel Morrow,

Dng 115 TOCSketch avatar

I grab a bottle of the "Good Stuff" pop off the cork, lean back and take a long swill. "Ahhh, that hits the spot"
