Glory of Dhakann - A PbP PFRPG Eberron Campaign

Brass Dwarf avatar

DM Dhakann wrote:
From around the corner 100 feet down the corridor, you see several hobgoblins come around the corner dressed in ancient armor. They appear to be shambling though.

"Abominations! Corruption of honorable hob!" Hruskin snarls in indignant rage. He raises his holy symbol and prepares to channel the fury of Onatar!

Init: (IC is down) Rolled on my honor: 18 +2 Dex = 20

Brignat,

Jaggrath Color avatar

"I'll take the leader."
Init, Long Bow Att & Dam: 1d20+4=16 1d20+7=26 1d8+2=6

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

As the 4 zombies step around the corner, you catch a flicker of glowing green in their eyes...As they drop into a crouch and the3 leader opens it's mouth extremely wide, and roars...as Brignat's arrow strikes it in the shoulder.

Drexel Morrow,

Dng 115 TOCSketch avatar

wait, I thought this was a elvish tomb?

Qadira DM Dhakann,

Drexel Morrow wrote:

yup, and you saw hobgoblin footprints going in...but not back out...*hint* don't die in here...

Drexel Morrow,

Dng 115 TOCSketch avatar

Haha ok I'll keep that in mind

I pull out my bow quickly and fire
1d20+6=9

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

So two of you have shot anyone else going to react prior to their move down the corridor? Any knowledge checks?

Brignat,

Jaggrath Color avatar

Know(dungeoneering) & Know(dhakaan history): 1d20+7=13, 1d20+4=8

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

The zombies charge down the hall with blinding speed, they're upon you before you can even scream, they have exceptionally long claws...and their maws are open twice as wide as you would expect. You feel their dark energy emanating from their bodies.

Drexel Morrow,

Dng 115 TOCSketch avatar

I shout "Quickly! fall back out the entrance! perhaps some will be killed by the trap and we can engage them while they are stuck in the tunnles"

I then dive backwards and roll out of the tomb underneath the decapitation trap.

tumble1d20+6=16

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

[i]As Drexel attempts to tumble away from the fast hobgoblin zombie, the zombie slashes at him 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7, but misses badly. you failed the DC for the new PFRPG check

WOOT! paizo added built-in dice rollers!!! ["dice"]1d20[/"dice"]minus the ""

Drexel Morrow,

Dng 115 TOCSketch avatar

Failed the DC for what?

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

Drexel Morrow wrote:

For your tumble check, to escape melee. So the zombie had gotten an AoO.

Drexel Morrow,

Dng 115 TOCSketch avatar

Oooooo lol I though you meant the tumble to go under the trap or something haha, I was like, Hum that's new?

Brignat,

Jaggrath Color avatar

Brignat moves back to the entrance and fires again.
Move: move 30' back toward the entrance.
Stand: Long Bow vs leading zombie 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 add +1 att & dam if within 30'

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

You guys and moving out of melee, I did say they were upon you almost instantly...(AKA Move 40 charge...not normal zombies.)

Brignat moves out of combat provoking an AoO, 1d20 ⇒ 6 , which misses completely, the claws not even coming close. Brignat then fires at the closest one, the arrow passing through the rotten neck of the zombie, it doesn't appear to be phased.

Haruuc Dhakaan,

Pathfinder Cover 3 avatar

Sorry for my absence guys. I've been going throuh some personal problems and took a week away from the Boards to try and help.

Initiative 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Haruuc sees the undead approaching and is stunned by their swiftness and ferocity. He sees the others trying to fall back down the tunnel and he attempts to withdraw himself from the creatures and follow his companions.

Attempting a Withdraw (p.188) action to double move back down the tunnel.

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

As you rush back toward the entrance, you hear a cackle from down the hall as the entrance slams shut sealing you off from the others.

Initiative Round 1:
Brignat: 19
Hruskin:15
Drexel: 14
Hob Zombies (4): 12
Haruuc: 4

The Zombies are down the corridor from you, since Hruskin hasn't posted I will assume he withdrew with Haruuc. Now your group of intrepid heroes of Dhakaan are stuck between stone doors and some undead of Dhakaan, in a Valenar tomb on Dhakaani soil in an age past.

Drexel Morrow,

Dng 115 TOCSketch avatar

I curse under my breath and string a new arrow onto my bow waiting for a good shot.

Brignat,

Jaggrath Color avatar

Brignat smiles to himself, "Brign me onlofgh!"
Move: Draw kukrit in free hand
Stand: 2 weapon attack on first zombie to come within range: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Hruskin Gelddar,

Brass Dwarf avatar

Hruskin will hold aloft his hammer and call upon the power of Onatar for aid.

Channel Energy: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8

Drexel Morrow,

Dng 115 TOCSketch avatar

just out of curiosity what happened to the banner that we picked up? I dont remember any one saying that they donned it...

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

Sorry guys, my second income maker totally exhausted me, so I fell a little behind. Hruskin, were you healing or assaulting undead with your channel? Drexel, someon picked it up, but no one attached it, so it should be carried currently.

Assaulting. I'm a shoeless god of war, man.

Drexel Morrow,

Dng 115 TOCSketch avatar

i thought it was sexy shoeless god of war

Hey, if you find goblins sexy, man, than that's YOUR thing. I have no comment on the matter..

lmao.
DM: where are we in the initiative order?

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

Everything up to my posting of the Initiative order was surprise round...just post your round 1 actions and I'll figure it all out. I have one more project that is on fire, then I will be getting back to normal...bear with me please. (worked from 8:30-5:30 at my day job then worked from 6pm to 3am at home on my extra project job...then got up at 7:30 and did some stuff on the extra project job before going to the day job...it's amazing I'm even coherent at the moment.)

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

Brignat looses another arrow down the entrance hall. Hruskin begins an oratory in the name of Onatar, clanging his hammer while he speaks, as Drexel rloads, the hobgoblin zombies again race down the corridor, faster than a normal hob, as Hursking brings his hammer down upon the stone floor, a loud ringing fills the hallway, as the energy of the forged tears away small bits from the hobgoblins, the one pierced by Brignat's arrows is overwhelmed by the energy and pitches forward midrun. The others however continue their charge, Drexel releases his arrow as they slam into your party.

Hob Zombie v. Brignat1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Hob Zombie v. Hruskin1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Hob Zombie v. Drexel1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Perhaps the positive energy protected you from their attacks, for none of the Hob Zombies hits you.

Haruuc, you're up, everyone else post round 2 actions.

Brignat,

Jaggrath Color avatar

Drawing his kukri, Brignat begins thrashing at the zombies.
Kukri & armor spike attack vs. zombie on him:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Drexel Morrow,

Dng 115 TOCSketch avatar

I drop my bow (free action) and pull out my two short swords (1 move action due to two weapon fighting) I then attack the zombie thing that attacked me with one sword (standard)

attack 1d20+2=22(oops I only added 2 to the d20 roll it was supposed to be 4, regardless I got a nat 20 and I believe according to pathfinder rules I CAN crit against undead?)

damage 1d6+2=7
crit damage (if applicable) 1d6+2=4

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

You can sneak attack, not critical undead. In addition, FYI (new houserule), someone has to identify the location to sneak attack the undead/golem/whatever with a knowledge check. ex: Oh look, it says in this book you can kill a vampire by stabbing it in the heart with a stake. This knowledge roll also grants access to being able to critical something normally immune to crits...and gives everyone a reason to actually TAKE knowledge skills.

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

Haruuc? Hruskin?

Drexel Morrow,

Dng 115 TOCSketch avatar

it would appear that our little web game has fallen appart, and such a disappointment I was wondering what was in the tomb and why we where in the past :(

Brignat,

Jaggrath Color avatar

I'm still here.

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

Let's give em another day or two, I have hobgoblins outside that newly recruited players could take over.

Drexel Morrow,

Dng 115 TOCSketch avatar

well...? This is my only outlet for D&D and I'm getting a little needy lol

Haruuc Dhakaan,

Pathfinder Cover 3 avatar

Drexel Morrow wrote:

Sorry, my fault. Work has been fncked for me these last few weeks and I haven't been able to fully wrap my head around PbPs but for a few posts here and there. I'm going to try and make an effort to be more dilligent in my posting. Once again, sorry

Haruuc whips his Spiked Chain out towards the closest Zombie, but unfortunately it whistles past.

Attack Zombie with Masterwork Spiked Chain: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

PC Puppet,

Mask avatar

Hurskin calls holds his hammer aloft once more, and calls upon the power of Onatar once more, slamming his hammer onto the stone floor it rings loudly as waves of positive energy wash over the zombies.

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

Brignat takes a wild slice at the closest zombie but slams his shoulder spikes into the foul hobgoblin's chest as the chest cavity oozes coagulated blood and pus from the wound. The thing rakes it's claws at brignat in a furious assault

Spoiler:

1d20 ⇒ 4
1d20 ⇒ 2

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

It appears some posts that showed for me disappeared....second time I've had that glitch.

Drexel tears a viscous slice into the zombie, but it's still standing, as it attempts to dig it's claws into Drexel. 1d20 ⇒ 10+2=14 1d20 ⇒ 12+1=13 Drexel ducks and dodges his way from danger.

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

The final zombie attempts to shred both Hruskin and Haruuc...

1d20 ⇒ 2+2 1d20 ⇒ 15+2

The zombies claws tear into Haruuc's armor with a rending screech as he turns at the last second.

Drexel Morrow,

Dng 115 TOCSketch avatar

Man, these zombie's rolls have really been sucking. Not that I'm complaining or anything. never knew that 10+2=14 though, I'll have to remember that next time I'm doing math...

27 Demon War 2 avatar

Drexel Morrow wrote:

It's the new math...S1cK Math... and yes, they have been sucking indeed...even the one that was a decent roll just barely missed...

Haruuc Dhakaan,

Pathfinder Cover 3 avatar

Feeling the scrape of it's claws as the remaining Zombie attacks him, Haruuc's Spiked Chain once more snakes out towards it, hoping this time to connect. He is rewarded as the chain slices into the dead flesh before him, foul ichor oozing from the gaping wound.

Attack Zombie with Masterwork Spiked Chain: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Damage: 2d4 + 1 ⇒ (3, 3) + 1 = 7

Brignat,

Jaggrath Color avatar

Brignat continues his assault.
Stand: att w/ kukri & spikes vs. zombie 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Qadira DM Dhakann,

27 Demon War 2 avatar

Trying to find out what's up with Hruskin, he's not someone who just disappeared, maybe he's one of those that forgot about this PbP...

Drexel Morrow,

Dng 115 TOCSketch avatar

hope he didnt die

Hruskin Gelddar,

Brass Dwarf avatar

No death yet, just been out with a sick 3 year old for the last four days, which cut my internet time down to nothing. I think I'm going to withdraw from this game. I need to cut down my PbPing to a more manageable level and this game keeps slipping off my radar. Apologies, feel free to kill Hruskin or hand him off to another player or NPC him as needed.

Thanks!
