The Deceiver,

27 Sable-Company-Uniform avatar

The Deceiver thinks that tonight is the night to escape. He wonders if Dr. Zahn has an antidote for the drugs he's been using on the spellcasters. Perhaps, he's a spellcaster, I believe. Damn foolish if he gets poisoned by his own product without a remedy.

Posted this to test if the game thread is alright.

Ryor Saar'Narlok,

06-majestrixs-5 avatar

"Alright".

Pharasma,

Mithral Scarab Final avatar

Dr Yin and Zahn are different guys. Yin is a Doctor, kind of a creepy one, actually. Zahn is a mage with a specialization in nautical wizardry.

The Deceiver,

27 Sable-Company-Uniform avatar

These accomodations are really wreaking havoc on my powers of observation.

Pharasma,

Mithral Scarab Final avatar

Book, Righty, and Sujahayak finish their work. Pulsifer, Bohdan, and Nerius hang twitching in the manacles, no doubt hallucinating something horrible.

The crew leaves to cope with the storm again.

Ryor Saar'Narlok,

06-majestrixs-5 avatar

My hands and feet both have Manacles?(Escape artist check)
Then the cell door(Theft check?) get crossbow, kill Sooj,Mooj or Kamada take their weapons...Search hold for more implements of death.

The Deceiver,

27 Sable-Company-Uniform avatar

Can I take twenty on the disable device check to open the locks?

Pharasma,

Mithral Scarab Final avatar

Hagnoose watches you another 2 or 3 hours. When Mannick replaces him Hagnoose complains that his shift was too long. He looks really nervous. Mannick looks like he's on vacation, totally relaxed. He checks over the crossbow. He wears a sword and has a dagger on his hip.

You guys can take 20 on escape and theft skills if nobody is watching. Hagnoose's eyeballs are all over you and he's pointing the crossbow at the cell door. When Mannick comes on you feel the presence of a guys who can't be fooled, his eyes have a way of boring into you.

The storm continues, easing occasionally but never for long. The swells are tremendous. Mooj and Pleione bring some dry bread and cheese to you late in the evening. Sailors come down the stairs to rest in shifts, laying in hammocks at the back or sitting on sacks. The table is useless even bolted to the floor because the chairs have been lashed to the hull to keep them from hurting the animals.

Pharasma,

Mithral Scarab Final avatar

Midnight – Pharast 24th, 4708

It’s black.

As you wait for a chance to break your bonds some of you struggle in and out of sleep, but never for long.

Bohdan:

Spoiler:
You dream you are deep underwater facing a kelp bed, but you are not drowning, above you the surface is churning chaos but around you peace. The kelp in front of you gathers, knotting into a face, and as it knots, a torso and arms grow - all twisting and writhing but seemingly solid. The face sways toward you, the knotting kelp whispering and you hear a voice that tears into your mind…. “kill Book”.

The Deceiver:

Spoiler:
You are floating on the surface in a storm, treading water and barely keeping yourself afloat. The winds scream above you. A ship, the very ship you are on is breaking through the swells toward you, and burning. You hear a voice in the shrieking wind… a scream: “kill Book” it begs you, "kill".

The storm persists in whispering its apocalyptic lyric. The groaning of the masts and hull are so constant you no longer notice them. In the middle of the night Mooj is back on shift, carrying a candle, half a day earlier than you expect him - and he looks exhausted, maybe too much so to visit his starboard girls.

But he’s not on the sacks long before he nods off, waking up every now and then when the ship breaks a huge swell. There is another candle, dark and thick, glued to the table in the middle of the hold with melted wax. Other crew members are sleeping in the back on sacks and coils of rope. A few sway in hammocks.

The steel lathe of the crossbow grins and shimmers in the candlelight.

Bohdan,

06-majestrixs-4 avatar

Fortitude save (1d20+5=25) Shaking off some of the drugs
Pulling out of the strange dream with a loud groan, Bohdan feels a sudden urge to cry out for Iomedae. He holds his tongue though. The thought of Iomedae seems to have cleared his wits a bit too and he tries to assess the situation. Mooj is seemingly asleep and the swell of the waves makes the people around him shift back and forth. The groaning noise of the ship should cover the slight clanking of chains he thinks as he shifts around so his feet face the side of the ship.
"Kill Book..." the thought stirs in his mind as the dark half-orc wraps the chains around his hands and braces his feet as far up on the wall as he can. "Now or never!"
Heaving with all his might the large half-orc suddenly lurches upwards, pulling the chain tight in the ring attached to the bulkhead.

I'll try to pull whatever the chain is attached to out of the wood, using all my strenght and bodyweight + I'll use an action point to add to the result. I hope it's possible. :-D
Damned be the chains and manacles, at least the chain can be used as an impromptu weapon if I'm just free to move about the ship.

The Deceiver,

27 Sable-Company-Uniform avatar

Thanks Bohdan. I forgot we had action points.

The Deceiver opens his eyes exactly at midnight. A vision of the future... Pharasma's will be done. The Deceiver pulls out the lockpicking tools and starts to jimmy away at the lock, timing each movement with the movement of the ship.

Taking twenty on disable device check; also Spending an action point to add to total. Keeping fingers crossed. Pharasma, I pray these locks aren't superior quality. Otherwise, we're toast.

The Deceiver listens carefully for any of the guards. He stops what he is doing if hears them.

For Pharasma

Spoiler:
You have a ghost on this ship?

Rackham Pulsifer,

A 19 Vencarlo Final avatar

Fortitude: 8 - 1 = 7. No dice. Well, not literally.

The strange, white-haired man can be heard to mumble something over and over in his half-dreaming state. No one can be certain what, though...

Ryor Saar'Narlok,

06-majestrixs-5 avatar

escape artist check 29 manacles-theft-29 for cell door lock; What is Moojy doing?

Nerius Daergal,

w/action point, Fort 12 Why does IC hate me so?
Nerius stares dumbly at his feet.

Pharasma,

Mithral Scarab Final avatar

Mooj continues to sleep.

Bohdan clears his head a little. He begins to pull at the bonds, whispering to himself, veins bulging in his temples and forearms. They cuffs begin to creak and a sharp ping precedes their end. He then begins to twist the chain, quietly, and pull the manacles chian and all from the bulked. It snaps, another ping, and a bolt sails through the air. On the other side of the cell, one of the Sandpoint girls follows the glinting bolt and lifts her legs, catching it in her knickers with an amazing feat of dexterity [Dainty girl perception: (1d20+1=15)] [Dainty girl's Reflex roll: (1d20+2=22)]. Bohdan: I don't see why you can't take twenty on your STR check while the Deceiver works, you need the action point to bump up your STR bonus.

The Deceiver: You're free, no action points needed, but it takes a while. You're out of the manacles just as girl catches the bolt.

Ryor: You move quickly, the locks are picked. You have time more more locks. The Deceiver looks like he's almost free.

The cell gate creaks terribly every time someone opens it. This worries you. Mooj mutters in his sleep. The howling wind and rolling continues.

You all see Nerius shaking his head.Just the one action point is good. You still feel fuzzy but the hallucinations abate.

I'll wait a while to see what Syd and Jon want to do while you guys work. They should be able to break the manacles by working them like Bohdan.

Syd,

01 avatar

Flippin' heck! thinks Syd. Inspired by his fellow's display of strength, he also puts his mettle to the test. They int gonner 'urt no more o' these gurls!

Take 20 Strength check Action point (1d6=4)

Pharasma,

Mithral Scarab Final avatar

Not long after Bohdan pulls himself free, Syd joins him. The cell begins to feel very crowded once you get up with killing on your mind.

Syd, Nerius, Bohdan, Narlok:

Spoiler:
In addition to Mooj, you can see 5 people sleeping on the other side of the hold. There are also a couple of small rooms.

The Deceiver, Jon, Pulsifer:

Spoiler:
You think you see a few people sleeping near the back of the hold and remember there are several rooms back there, too.

At the top of the stairs is a hatch door. It's closed. Finding a way to keep it closed might benefit you tremendously. The hold door, too.

Nerius Daergal,

Nerius gives his head another shakes and, noticing the others are free he mutters "Hey, wha' about poor Nerius here? Thank you, much obliged." Once free he stumbles around a little, getting accostumed to walking in the boat. After a moment he turns to his fellow prisoners and grins brightly "So, who do we kill first?"

Syd,

01 avatar

Syd looks at his fellow escapees, and nods. He points to the other half orc and points to Mooj. You and me take him? being his thought.

Pharasma,

Mithral Scarab Final avatar

Everyone wonders how to get through the cell gate without the creaking noise.

Nerius Daergal,

I don't suppose that I could fit through the bars?

Alas, not your head.

Nerius Daergal,

Is the key visible? Do we know where its kept? My familiar could fly in, try to grab it, and then give it to us.

Mithral Scarab Final avatar

Nerius Daergal wrote:

Your familiar is rather wet but well fed. The pirates have taken to feeding him up on the main deck. Pleione, Righty and Book seem to have keys to the gate. Book has the keys to the manacles. Your out of luck, there. Of course, Ryor just picked it...

Spit and piss!

Ear wax but I don't think we'll have engough!

The Deceiver,

Rip the the clothing off your bodies and muffle the squeaky parts of the cell door.

Rackham Pulsifer,

A 19 Vencarlo Final avatar

Still manacled and straining at his restraints, Pulsifer begins chanting anew, louder this time. His eyes roll back into his head eerily.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with the Lady, and the Word was Iomedae. The same was in the beginning with Her. All things were made by Her; and without Her was not any thing made that was made. In She was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not..."

Blood drips from his nose onto the decking.

Pharasma,

Mithral Scarab Final avatar

Wasn't Iomedae the herald of Aroden...? Oh ya, he's on drugs.

Exactly.

Pharasma,

Mithral Scarab Final avatar

Are you guys going to unlock anyone else?

Bohdan, Syd have wrenched their manacles from the wall. Jon will no doubt join them (when Ian Dai posts). Using a take 20 strength check plus an action point, Ian.

The Deceiver and Ryor have styled their way out, and Ryor has unlocked the gate. Ryor smears loogie all over the hinges and The Deceiver packs them with loincloth.

The others watch the twisted heroics in silence.

Mooj, cradling the crossbow, fondles himself and dreams of pigs - the swells rock him like a babe in a basinette.

Bohdan,

06-majestrixs-4 avatar

Bohdan kneels down next to the white haired man and softly whispers to him: "Iomedae is with us, stay strong in the faith."
He then taps Ryor and the Deceiver on their arms and indicate the rest of the prisoners, especially the women. A nod to Syd indicates that they should huddle together at the door.
"Think we can reach him?" he says, indicating Mooj.

Pharasma,

Mithral Scarab Final avatar

Let's not waste time. Ryor and The Deceiver can pick the rest of the locks, after 2 or 3 it gets really easy. The women and two young men stay against the walls to give you guys space. Ian, buddy, I'll assume Jon has pulled manacles from the wall and blown an action point. Bohdan, Jon, and Syd have improvised bludgeoning chains.

Pow-wow. How are you guys going to do this? Maybe you want to use the discussion thread.

9B-Pirate, On the floor sleeping on some sacks.
9A, 10A, 9D, 10D-Pirates, in hammocks.

The red square signifies the hold doors, they are battened down from above because of the storm, but could be opened.

"No time to be squeamish. Kill them while they sleep."

Stealth (1d20+8=26)

The Deceiver moves silently to Mooj, timing each step with the lurching of the ship.

He covers Mooj's mouth with his left hand as he strikes Mooj's neck with a knife life formation of his fingers.

Activating Death Domain Power combined with Sneak attack. A form of a coup 'd grace.

Pharasma,

Mooj has a dagger and a saber...

Pharasma wrote:

Mooj is dead... right?

Pharasma,

Mithral Scarab Final avatar

Coup de grace, roll dagger or saber (1d6) on Mooj, take a critical hit (x3) plus take your sneak attack.... = 4 dice at (1d6+STR) + straight sneak attack. If he lives he gets a fortitude roll, but he wont scream out if you thrust the saber into his neck.... So... I guess that would mean he's dead no matter what. It takes 6-12 seconds. Save the death domain (bleeding?).

The Deceiver kills Mooj, he's holding a saber.

Next guy to post should take Mooj's dagger. [EDIT: Ryor has it, see Bohdan's post below.]

Saber (martial weapon) stats:

Spoiler:

1d6 || 18-20/x3 || 2.5 lb || P

Chain (improvised) stats:

Spoiler:

1d8 || x2 || 8 lb || B (+2 trip attack and disarm)

Repeating Crossbow (exotic ranged, 2H) stats:

Spoiler:

1d10 || 19–20/x2 || 120 ft. || 12 lb || P

[Edit: fixed saber stats, added chain and repeating crossbow.]

Bohdan,

06-majestrixs-4 avatar

Picking up the dagger and holding it out to Ryor, Bohdan indicates that he'd like to have one manacle opened so he can swing the chain to its full length, with the loose manacle at the end.
After Ryor has done his tricks he kneels down next to the huddled up women, girls and boys.
"No need for you to see what happens now or get involved in it," he whispers while holding their attention for a little while. Hopefully the others will do what they have to do to the rest of the pirates below deck in the meantime.

Hehe, nice token for Nerius on the map ;-)

No combat rounds until someone awakens, but you should make stealth rolls when you move. First one is free Nerius.

I'd rather do it that way. We can't handle the other pirates if the alarm is sounded prematurely.
