"He said that he would find us," the wizard said.

To the rest of the party

As Uathach interrogates the prisioners, Saul asks the rest of you what you would like to do. He tells you that almost every position is open, from bouncer to dealer, to greeter, to spotter.

Raoh,

Pathfinder Cover 5 avatar

"Excuse my rudeness, but we get partnerships, what do you get out of it?" He gives a sharp look to Saul.

Sense motive 1d20+4=21

DM Dave,

PJ 3-Belloq avatar

"I have been trying to put my life back together since my 'fall from grace," Saul says. "I don't want to get sucked back into like with the bosses and the Syndicates and all of that. Your lot seems quite capable, and is not connected to the Syndicates. You get a partnership, I get protection, and, gods willing, Riddleport sees that life without the bosses is possible."

He seems very sincere about this.

Raoh,

Pathfinder Cover 5 avatar

"Then count me in", he smiles and shakes Saul's hand. "I'll work whatever position you'd like."

DM Dave,

"Spotter?" asks Caladan "Is that watching over the place, keeping and eye on troublemakers and cheats, that sort of thing?"

"I could do that."

Raoh,

Pathfinder Cover 5 avatar

"I have plenty of experience in a gambling hall" Raoh gives a half hearted laugh.

"Other than that I now my away around the tabled, and have a keen eye"

Branth Bummugboar,

Wild Elf Final avatar

Branth listens to the conversation going on around her, particularly interested in Caladan's question. "Yeah, whattayamean by 'spotter'?" she asks from her chair. Formerly tense, she seems a little more at ease now, and takes a sip of her drink.

Uathach of Iomedae,

11550 620 19 avatar

Uathach heads back down after the interrogation, "we need to get these two out of town, under disguise."

"If I see you in Riddleport again, your life is forfeit." he calmly says to the two thieves.

"What's this about jobs?"

Caladan Delathia,

Opener 5 avatar

"From the way you handled those axes I think we should put you right by the front door," Caladan says raising his glass in salute to the powerful half-orc. "That would make anyone think twice before starting any trouble."

Bron Islar,

Cayden Final avatar

Bron politely turns down Saul's offer for a drink having a few too many as was. Bron listened to the owner's proposition carefully absorbing all he said in silence. "Sounds intresting" Bron said then added " What talents I have? Hmmm. Im one with the shadows" this is said with a wink.

"Yeah what is this spotter?"

DM Dave,

PJ 3-Belloq avatar

"A spotter is someone who spends their time up in the rafters looking for troublemakers down on the floor," Saul explains. "They are the eyes and ears of the casino and they must be very good at spotting cheaters, thieves, and thugs."

"It sounds like you would do very well as a dealer," Saul tells Raoh.

Silme,

Paizo-W 2-Petrune avatar

And what kind of position, pray tell, could you possibly offer a cleric?

I've been wandering for quite some time and wouldn't mind a spot of time settled in one place.

DM Dave,

PJ 3-Belloq avatar

"I'm sure we can find some thing for you to do," Saul says. "If nothing else, I may need a preacher to help me find my way back to the straight and narrow."

Uathach of Iomedae,

11550 620 19 avatar

"I can do that for you Saul, here let me read some passages from Acts of Iomedae"

Raoh,

Pathfinder Cover 5 avatar

Gah, why do my post keep getting eaten!

"Perhaps we can save the literature for later. If I may, what about the tournament? Are you calling it off due to the robbery, or will it continue? I only as because I was looking forward to participating."

DM Dave,

PJ 3-Belloq avatar

"Sadly we will have to call it off," Saul says. "We lost most of our employees and a large amount of our patrons as well. I suggest that you all get some sleep, as tomorrow will be very busy hiring new employees and getting things up and running again."

Caladan Delathia,

Opener 5 avatar

Raoh wrote:

Caladan smiles at the tiefling's comment, his fingers closing around the holy symbol hanging around his neck.

"Well, if we make you the dealer, I think there may be some complaints about that." Caladan remarks quietly. "But I wouldn't worry about it too much. I expect there's much more money to be made by running a tournament than from playing in one. Am I right, Saul?"

Bron Islar,

Cayden Final avatar

what time is it? afternoon or evening?

The tournament started in the evening. It is now getting around 9pm or so, local time.

"Of course. 10,000 crowns was peanuts compared to what I would have made in revenue," Saul says. "Ale sales alone would have made me a small fortune."

It's the same reason that casinos in Las Vegas can give away free drinks to people who are actually playing on the gaming floor.

Bron Islar,

Cayden Final avatar

"Ok I'm in" Bron says with a smile. He thinks to himself, this could prove more profitable then originally thought. Still smileing, he adds" surely though, with that kind of profit you could do a bit better than 10 gold a week... you saw first hand our skills... you know we are worth it" Bron says, trying coax more gold from Saul.

not sure what this kinda of check would be under so used bluff

Raoh,

"Heh" Raoh can't help but to grin and chuckle at Branth's response

DM Dave,

PJ 3-Belloq avatar

Saul smiles at Bron, in a grandfatherly way. "Nice try young man, but we'll start at 10. If things go as planned then there may be more money in it for you later, but for now 10 crowns each is all I can afford."

Uathach of Iomedae,

11550 620 19 avatar

"A fair wage sir!" declares Uathach, "If you're truly looking to change your ways and have this place become a beacon of light in Riddleport, no matter how dim, then, by Iomedae, I'm your man"

Bron Islar,

Still smiling Bron responds " Hehe worth a shot, but either way count me in" Bron extends his hand in a hand shake to seal the deal.

"What time you want us here tomarrow, boss?"

"How about 10 am," Saul says. "We have new staff to interview. Normally though we would not open until evening. Of course you are welcome to stay here if you wish."

Uathach of Iomedae,

11550 620 19 avatar

Uathach will escort the wizard and thug out of town under cover of darkness, leaving them unarmed and with no spell components until well out of town. Then return to his new room.

Caladan Delathia,

DM Dave wrote:

Caladan nods to Saul. "I will be staying here," he says. "Before I sleep, I'd like to look around the main gambling room and get my bearings while the place is empty. If I'm to be a spotter it will be from the rafters, did you say? Can you have someone show me around?"

Bron Islar,

Cayden Final avatar

"What position you need me for by the way? And yes i would like a room as well" Bron had asked.

Branth Bummugboar,

Wild Elf Final avatar

Branth grunts and mumbles to herself, then says to Saul, "I guess I'll stay here too, for the time being. I'm already used to the smell. I can't say if I'll be here every night, though. You know, I like to sleep under the stars, and have some people I need to stay in contact with outside of town." She stands from the straight-backed chair, lugging all her gear back on as she does so, and waits to be shown where her room is.

DM Dave,

PJ 3-Belloq avatar

Those that are staying are shown to a small suite of rooms at the end of the hallway. There is one main sitting and dining room and five small bedrooms, each with a private lavatory. The red haired dwarf shows Caladan around the building, including the set of catwalks he will be watchiong from. Then he shows Bron and Raoh around the gaming floor and allows them to get aquainted with all the games. Then he tells them that Saul has decided that they will be "senior dealers" which really means that they wander the floor looking for cheaters under the guise of supervising the other dealers.

Caladan Delathia,

Opener 5 avatar

After looking around the main gambling room, Caladan thanks Feldur, bids the others good night and then retires to his room.

"Well, I've solved that problem anyway." he thinks to himself as he drifts off to sleep. "At least I won't run out of money..." closing his eyes, he drifts off into a light sleep.

Raoh,

Pathfinder Cover 5 avatar

"Senior dealers, huh. First day and we've already got a promotion"

DM Dave,

PJ 3-Belloq avatar

As morning comes, you are awakened by a strange clattering sound on the roof. It almost sounds like the sound of hailstones, however when you look out the window you see that it is not hail falling from the sky but small black stones instead.

Edit: For those inside the Gold Goblin, the stones are making it's brass dome ring like a large bell.

Uathach of Iomedae,

11550 620 19 avatar

Uathach wonders what the black stonesa re and if they're from the blot...he'll go outside and concentrate on one of the black stones to see if it radiates evil. He'll stay under cover, as he doesn't want their taint on him if they are evil.are they stone or metal?.

DM Dave,

PJ 3-Belloq avatar

The stones do not radiate evil. Picking one up to examine it it feels like stone, but is colder than any ice you have ever encountered.

Uathach of Iomedae,

11550 620 19 avatar

"Interesting", I go about picking up as many as I can...perhaps they can be made into a special weapon, black like adamantine, perhaps they're adamantine ore.

Uathach of Iomedae,

11550 620 19 avatar

Anything around I can fill up? Like a rain barrel? Like I said, going to gather as much as I can, then I'll analyze it with Knowledge planes and Craft Weaponsmith skills to see if I can do anything with it.

Have I heard of star metal?

Raoh,

Pathfinder Cover 5 avatar

Raoh wakes to the load of thumps coming from outside. Rubbing his eyes he peaks out his window. He watches as stones fall from the sky. He immediately rubs his eyes again to make sure he's really seeing it.

After getting dressed he gathers a few stones from the frront of his home. "Odd. Very, very odd"

As soon as it's safe to go out Raoh will make his way the 'Goblin'

Branth Bummugboar,

Wild Elf Final avatar

Branth yells over the resounding clamor of the stones hitting the dome of the Gold Goblin, "What the hells is all that noise?" She climbs out of bed, fully dressed, and thuds her way to the shared room, looking around vengefully, clearly irritated by the racket. Glaring out the window, she sees the black stones raining down outside and stares at them silently for a moment.

"Alright. There are black rocks falling from the sky!" she announces with a loud yell that fills the suite, although half-muted and garbled in the cacophony created by the stones slamming into the roof.

HAHA, I just had a flash of your character as Calamity Jane from Deadwood!!!

Bron Islar,

Cayden Final avatar

Startled awake by the sound of what appears to be objects bouncing off the roof, Bron races over to the windowand looks to see what is making all the racket. Upon looking outside he see black stonesfalling like hail in a bad storm. He mutters to himself " Hmmm... now thats odd. how often would a person get to see falling rocks. Oh well better not make a trip outside might get bludgeon to death by'em"

Bron then walks over to the bed and sits on it while he gets dressed and ready for the day. After getting ready he makes his way to find Saul and the others maybe they would have some imput on these stones

*Snicker* Had to look that one up. Thanks for that. I can see that angle. http://www.hbo.com/deadwood/cast/character/calamityjane.shtml

Branth Bummugboar,

When Bron walks out of his room, Branth is still standing around in the common room, watching the stones fall. "Can you believe this?" she asks the rogue, pointing out the window, as if he may not be aware of the fragments of black stone falling from the sky. Seeing that he is on his way out the door, she follows.

Did you listen to her? She's a cursing, cranky lass...

Uathach continues to collect the rocks...If I can find and fill a barrel I will, then get more...I'm part of the clean-up crew...heh. I'll grab more rain barrels even. Then drag them into the Golden Goblin....I'll buy barrels if I have to. If they're not worth anything, I'm doing a service, helping clean-up, and if they are worth something then I'm gonna get enough to craft something in the downtime.

Caladan Delathia,

Opener 5 avatar

Caladan stands in the doorway of the Gold Goblin, watching the black stones showering the street and nearby buildings. Holding his holy symbol in one hand, his fingers gently caress the wood as he wordlessly considers this newest unnatural manifestation.
