Curse of the Crimson Throne
Euphegenia,

2-Herbalist avatar

Euphegenia watches the reading with interest, she had worked along side another nurse maid who had gypsy blood in her veins, this old lady had taught her the ways of the harrow card, bless her departed soul. She reads the cards for herself, nodding in agreement with Zellara's assessment.

After the reading, she watches the bickering between the others with amusement, too many chefs she thinks to herself. Assessing where she can gain an ally, she settles on Reg, the young man has a calmness and inner strength that she admired.

"Reg, deary, your more than welcome to share the hospitality of The Red Knights temple if you wish," she smiles warmly, "it is far from luxurious, but it is clean, warm, safe and the food is simple but hearty."

"Perhaps we could also talk of Lorelai as we break our fast?"

Turning to the others she speaks, "so it is agreed that we will meet tomorrow at our colleagues establishments to plan our next action. Now if you will excuse me I will take my leave." Standing up she continues, "these old bones need a bit more rest than you youngsters."

Elric O'Brien,

A 3-Masquerade Massacre Final avatar

Elric snaps his eyes to Bean, nearly infuriated. "Do not speak of those that were taken from me. Ever. I'm sure you'd love to rub elbows with whoever you can and find out some mildly useful information over the next two days over bread and your fanciful fruit-drink, but it matters not what enforcements that slime has, I will tear them down, and I will tear him apart." He states, poking a large finger into his equally large chest, stooping down to be eye level with Bean.

"You should know a few things priest. I care little for you. Also,I will go to pier 17 at dawn, and I could care less if I have you or your loving goddess's support."

Elric leaves abruptly, slamming the door behind him.

" Yay! We get to march off to who knows what without knowing who will be opposing us or how we should attack their weaknesses! Yes nothing can go wrong with this plan, because it isn't a plan! " Bean looks slightly disgusted, " I agree time is important but I would rather be alive to see the outcome then do a frontal assualt on a well fortified location with unknown defenders and defense that I can't even recognize if I stood infront of it! Nevermind who we may upset or what they may throw at us! What if Lamm is related to the royalty? Has anyone even checked? If revenge could wait this long give me just 2 days to make sure we succeed! What good would it do to rush in and possibly die if you don't have a clue as to if you'll succeed? "

Bean stops and takes a few deep breaths before continuing, " Two days. Just enough time to find out what we up against please. I would rather succeed in this then die in vain from lack of knowledge. "

Bean looks up at elric, " Do you want vengeance or just the chance to die so you can meet whoever you lost? "

"What if your enquiries alert whoever is protecting Gaedren that trouble is coming?" Reg asks.

"Certainly, though I sincerely hope the child you speak of isn't the one I think she is," Reg smiles as for a moment he seems almost relieved of some burden he's carrying but only for a moment.

Reg also stands and lends the dwarven lady a hand as he wonders what else they could do to improve their chances of success and more importantly saving those still in Gaedren's clutches.
"Excuse me sir could you hold on for a moment so we can speak outside I have a question I need to ask of you regarding tomorrow's event at pier 17?" Reg asks Elric.

Elric O'Brien,

A 3-Masquerade Massacre Final avatar

Elric pauses before slamming the door. "Aye, Chessentan, I will be outside, make it quick. Elric then slam's the door, and waits just outside for Reg.

Elric O'Brien wrote:

Heading outside Reg quickly moves to the giants' side.
"If its alright with you I'll meet you outside the Red Knights' temple and come with you to Pier 17 tomorrow morning so we can see if there's another way into his base, the fever I suffered from cost me most of my memories of the exterior and interior of that hellish place perhaps you can gain the aid of one of your neighbours in the process?" Reg asks.

She did say she owns a shop near Elric's meaning he could pick her up and meet those of us at the Red Knights temple and then move on to Gaedren's hideout it seems a more ideal solution than hoping the Sune priest or the halfling scout doesn't run into trouble with all this research

Bean,

7 -Darius Finch avatar

" This isn't justice this is a slaughter. No good will come from this. What will we do with children we find? What if we come across hostages? " Bean stops for a minute, " It doesn't matter you all have decided, so we will follow this ridiculious course. Good Night to you all may you sleep peacefully now for I fear there will not be another chance to do so. "

Bean bows to their host again before walking outside, he pauses where Elric is standing, " This is reckless and stupid, but no matter how you feel about me or my goddess I WILL see you through this... I will make sure you survive so you may live with the aftermath of whatever this causes. I will go to the temple and pray tonight that I am wrong and everything is daisies after this, but I fear it is going to end badly... if one inocent is harmed becuase of your bloodlust... nevermind, Good Night sleep well if you can. "

Bean heads to the temple and true to his word begins praying, after several hours of pray he finally heads to bed so that he could be rested for the work he would do the next day.

Elric O'Brien,

A 3-Masquerade Massacre Final avatar

"Aye, I will meet ye and the dwarf at the Temple, and we will move on Gaedren." He says simply. "Now is there anything else?"

"No have a good evening, I'll see you in the morning," Reg nods back.

Diplomacy check to calm Elric down, rolled an 11+7 for a total of 18 this is only to insure the giant doesn't end up doing something rash between now and next morning and hopefully put him in a better mood than the one Bean left him in...

The morning is a warm one as you meet together, all coming together with one thing in mind. You make your way though the rundown docks of the city. The smell of the freshwater and trash feeling yout nostrils with the knowledge it will only get worse as the day goes on. Finely you find yourself across from rundown looking fishery.

The stink of week-dead fish hangs thickly in the air here. The old double doors in the side of this weathered building are tightly closed, with a drooping signpost hanging above. The sign it once displayed is long gone, leaving behind only a single short length of rusted chain.

A fifteen-foot-wide loading dock abuts the left side of the building while A slippery boardwalk clings to the right side of the fishery, held
together by barnacle-thick pilings that have been worn halfway through their thickness at the waterline

Roll call I guess

"Looks like we can try and bust in the front way or risk the side entrance unless that boardwalk goes all the way round, but watch your step there's some kind of shark in those waters and I do remember it being drawn here with all the chum or unfortunate souls tossed into the waters here," Reg quietly points out.

Reg is unnerved by the scene as he can clearly remember falling into the water here and doesn't like the idea of using the boardwalk but does include it as an option just not one he has any liking for at all

Teelos Greygrin,

C 3 C Cleric Of Cayden Final avatar

Sorry guys, work caught up to me.

Teelos peers at the building. "I've never been here but I think I remember some people talking about. I don't remember anyone say something about a shark though." He looks at the rest of the assembled group, "I could sneak underneath and look up through the cracks. Or sneak a glance in the windows." You can't help but feel that Teelos is more curious and interested in solving the puzzle presented by the situation, than he is at garnering revenge.

"Be careful that shark is what took my "friend" I wasn't in any condition to stick around to confirm what it is and I almost didn't make it even then, still maybe the window might give us a way in," Reg replies quietly obviously still unnerved and frightened by the memories he's reliving.

"Seconded if only because if he's seen they might think he's one of Gaedren's Lamms and come out to grab him, at least then we can rush them or if one of the others have a better idea?" Reg nods now kneeling to get a lower view of the area wondering the best way of getting in without getting anyone killed.

Bean,

" I know it seems stupid but if our friend can't find a path in we could always try knocking on the door... worse comes to worse we can bumrush the door when they open it. " Bean says uncomfortably.

He looks around to see how many people are out this morning and if any of them are paying attention to the group. Then steps around Elric so he stands just slightly in front of V and beside Teelos.

:: If Teelos decides to scout Bean will cast guidance on him with a quick word of encouragement, "May Sune see you through this and back." or something like that. ::

"I have to admit that would be very ironic!" Reg smiles briefly at Bean's suggestion.

Euphegenia,

Euphegenia listens to the suggestions, "I agree that we should scout the place out first," she looks at the halfling, "Teelos could you head over there and see if you can find a way in, or even open those double doors please?"

"If that fails, knocking could be a good idea, I assume you are all willing to wait a few more minutes before we commit to violence?"

Seeker:
Are the windows boarded up?
How sturdy does the front door look, could we smash it open with a battering ram?

"We should be able to wait a few more minutes at least, yes?" Reg nods looking back at the others.

I'm not going to be able to post any more today so if you don't mind Reg will back Euphegenia and Elric if they storm the place, take care!

"You might be able to pose as a buyer for the chum he sells which he uses the kids as slave labour to process," Reg notes wondering why it took him so long to remember but given his previously shaken state maybe he reflects he should take a step back to meditate and recover his composure...

V has kept silent, although her expression shows that she is always in deep thought. As Reg utters the possibility of posing as a buyer she finally speaks up, her eyes travelling over the group. "It may be best if either one of us gifted in subterfuge or someone who may need chum could enquire, making it less suspiscious" Looking thoughtful her eyes fall especially over both clerics "Perhaps a charitable soul or two looking for cheap food to give to the needy? Who would suspect a couple of people of faith of being here for something nefarious?"

You do not see anything under the building. It does look like the building is part on stilts not something that is unheard of on the docks and it is common in fact. Without passing in front of the loading dock you cant be sure of anything more

Teelos Greygrin,

Sorry Keeper, just to clarify, am I able to see the stilts under the building from where I am at, or is the front of the building on solid ground?

Teelos Greygrin,

C 3 C Cleric Of Cayden Final avatar

Teelos moves quickly back to the group and describes what he has seen. "I could probably slip in and move around unnoticed with the rest of the little ones. Maybe I can get a better idea of the layout, or cause a commotion to get some of the innocents out of harms way." He looks at the others, " What do you all think?"

Euphegenia,

2-Herbalist avatar

"Aye Teelos, that might be a good idea, but you would have to dirty yourself up a lot more and I worry that if you are discovered you could come to harm before we can get to you," she peers around at the others for their opinion.

"To pose as a priest, here to purchase food for the needy, is an idea, but I would have to leave my weapons and shield behind while we seek entrance," again she looks around to gauge opinion, "if there are ruffians inside in need of a dose of justice, I would rather be armed when I face them."

"My lady teaches that planning and strategy can turn a battle, but I feel that now is a time for action, can I suggest we assault the place in force?" Euphegenia points at the windows and the double door that share the same wall, "can I be so bold as to suggest we assault the place, with some of us going through the windows while the others attack the double doors, in the confusion I surmise we could open the double doors before any resistance mobilised."

"What say you Teelos, are the windows big enough to admit my stout form? she inquires while studying the windows herself.

Teelos Greygrin,

C 3 C Cleric Of Cayden Final avatar

"No offense lady, but maybe we should poke around inside for a bit first. It's not really a strategy if it involves going in more-or-less blind. Sometimes restraint is the most difficult action of all."He looks around expecting laughter at his attempt at wisdom, "Maybe I get a better idea of the layout and then let you guys in, either through the front door, if it isn't well guarded or some side door." He waits for the others to chime in.

Keen,

Pact Hall Ritual 3 avatar

"Well it would be great if you could sneak in through a window and open an unguarded door. The idea of just bum rushing the place seems a bit reckless even for me. If there are no unguarded doors then we don't have a lot of choice, we'll have to hit them hard. I suggest we attack the loading dock since it's likely the most open area."

Bean,

" I look pretty unoffensive, I could always do the knocking and talking, if just to keep them distracted from whatever you all are doing to find a way in. " Bean offers.

"I don't see nor remember anything that would help breaking into this place unless you count surviving a dip in that water over there which I really don't recommend, let him take a look and if he runs into trouble then we either bundle the windows and doors or the loading bay," Reg adds.

One note they sell chum which is fish bait and isn't food humans would eat. Chum is cut up old fish, rotten bloated and over all uneatable reg does recall them selling it to fishermen however

Perception roll (1d20+4=17)

With no one watching, Teelos slips in through the window and takes up carrying anything he can find at hand, so as to blend in with the group of little workers.

Keeper of Forbidden Lore,

Teelos

Spoiler:

you make your way though the window and into one of the small work groups. Over a dozen children work in this smelly room, they look tired and dirty as they toil in the dead fish The stink in this room, a mixture of fish and sweat, is enough to make the eyes water. To the east, a large wooden trough holds a hideous mound of half-rancid fish, seaweed, and
brine. Filthy seawater and fish blood stain the floor around this trough. A pair of wooden chutes lead from this trough through holes in the northern wall into a larger room to the east. To the west, a desk and chair sit in one corner while a tall cabinet sits in the other.

Suddenly you fill a sharp pain as a blade digs into ya 7hp

"Now what do we have here" you hear from behind you. The blade slices at you again but you roll away. Behind you holding a small curved blade is a dirty looking kid in a hood with mean angry eyes and a large runny nose

Bean,

After Bean sees Teelos get in he turns to Elric.

" Well then let's go knock Elric... just let me do the initial talking and I'll let you do the initial swinging. " Bean looks around at the group, " Reg would you like to come too? You can point out the potential problem points to us before we get to them, and everyone else can come in afterwards and help protect us from flanking. "

Euphegenia nods solemnly in agreement with Elric, she is worried about him being there on his own, but he did volunteer, her mind casts back to an old Dwarven saying, "No man is so wealthy that he can afford to waste friends."

As Bean selects who will head forward, she looks concerned when she is not chosen, being the hardiest and also one of the slowest moving, but she plays her part, saying a short prayer to the Red Knight and anointing each in turn, "Let not chaos or anger cloud your judgement when calmness and serenity are your weapons,"
She touches each in turn, giving them Guidance, for simplicity shall we assume it will last for 8 more rounds on all of you by the time she finishes?

Seeker:
How far from the door is Euphegenia and the others left behind, if it is more than a double movement of 40 feet, she will try and get that close, unless that means being out in plain sight.

Elric O'Brien,

A 3-Masquerade Massacre Final avatar

Elric puts a hand on Bean's shoulder to stop him. " Just to clarify, am I swinging at first chance? Because I think anyone who answers the door is going to be quite suspicious of me in armor and with my greataxe." He nods in approval with the dwarf's blessing.

"If that is the case, and we are essentially doing this to surprise the men at the door, i suggest we all come, and overwhelm them with numbers. The situation inside could have already deteriorated, and I am not keen on leaving the halfling in there." He states.

"So if we all go, I suggest That Reg shall lead you and V through the windows, directly after Eupgegina, Keen, and I go through the front. As the dwarf stated before If we strike hard and quick then with the confusion we will most likely be able to take down any initial resistance before any great defense is mobilized." He states calmly, illustrating his point with hand gestures. "What do you all think?"

Bean,

7 -Darius Finch avatar

" I guess that would work, I was thinking of explaining away your arms as a bodyguard for someone collecting donations could be the target of theives. But I'm no general so I'll differ to people with more experience. " Bean says looking over at the building again, " Let's try and avoid any undo harm though... not to Lamm, but to any children and 'normal' workers... there maybe people in there just trying to earn a living. Maybe just knock unconcious those you are unsure of. If a few minor criminals end up going to jail or even free I think it would be better than the risk of killing a fisherman who was just buying chum. "
