I vote for blademage or swordmage myself.

Great idea!

I vote for "Githz0rz"

So far we have
*Arcane warrior
*Spellthane
*Warden
*Mageblade
*weirbrand
*Sword mage

Any other ideals out there?

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

No splatbook in which the gish is stated up and then given non-gith fluff. There did I miss any dumb usages?

Forget you? You are my raison d' etre.

You forgot me!

Well, we can't leave out the penultamite gish class in 3.5, Duskblade.

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

Weird. I thought I was replying, not editing.

I left the duskblade out as it was a class and does not capture the feel of a fighter/mage in a general way

Fair enough. What about just calling it what it is, an armored mage?

Cheliax (Bella Sara Charter Superscriber)

gish-wish?

gish-fish?

True or false: gish=Jedi?

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

Dish on the gish.

Gizh.

Maybe the 17th-level chaotic evil anti-paladin githyanki knights could come riding in on their adult red dragon mounts and simply sever the silver cords of any "gish offenders" with a single swipe of their +3 silver swords.

Jedi would be an arcane warrior or a psionic warrior yes. I would pin them as psionic more then arcane

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

T/F Non-gith gish = native of Munchkinland.

True.

More to the point, do you think that is the appeal to most people?

David Fryer wrote:

True, but at that point, I think you really need to go with a gestalt build. I realize it's necessary to balance classes in an rpg, but it would be crazy to suggest the jedi aren't an entirely different level of power when compared to non-jedi.

I think it is really. They are tearless warriors with mystic powers. That and light sabers are fraking cool

I want to become a gishi like my father...

What about the ever popular tank-mage?

Your love this....My pbp Stap group( game set in eberron year 998) named the group "the millennium falcons" something that still amuses me

I believe you meant "G17hz0rz". I think we've found the name for our class.

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

Awesome. Now get the PMG to put all threads for this new class in its own forum so I can close them off...

Still find it curious that a term that appeared in reference to a single race (mind you a very iconic one) has spread to such wide useage.

My two cents is how about the very direct Fighter-Wizard or Fighter-Sorcerer. ;)

Look up gish in the urban dictionary. Considering that, it might work.

I just assumed that all these gish threads that were popping up meant that suddenly everyone wanted githyanki somehow incorporated into the PFRPG rules…

Nope. Just fimag's.

There ya go. BAN IT!

Wow.

I'm going to look at all these gish threads in a totally new light now.

Sorry, forgot to put my [/sarcasm] discalimer on.

Nah; it was a rhetorical answer.

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, Adventure Path Subscriber)

Arcane Warrior works for me as a generic class name. Sure it's not as kewl as say Duskblade or something, but it's also non-specific enough to cover most of what people might be looking for in a f/m-u type.

Airbender?

Anime?

Whisperknife? it could serve for a more roguely gish. that combines spells with sneak attack within 30 feet with a dagger. has all the rogue skills, 1/2 rogue talent progression, in exchange for bardic casting of sorcerer/wizard spells. of illusion, transmutation, enchantment, divination, conjuration (maybe) and evocation (maybe). i could get to writing it as soon as possible.

I like "abracastabya"

What we need to do is use it in THAT sense as much as humanly possible so the mods have no choice but to filter it.

And Heathy, again, wins the internet.

Whenever that button is found and guarded, include 'pre-approved' and 'pre-qualified' to that list...

I've always referred to my magey/fighter types as "Martial Arcanists", but that term won't work for general use very well. Too many syllables.

I, like others, vote for Mageblade. Simple, to the point.

Not a fan of the gish either. I've seen it used so many different ways I generally ignore it.
