it it worth the price ? What is the content like ? is it 3e, 4e, else ?

Okay.. to update the uninformed:

well, we are a quarterly magazine for now because we need to build a fan base of people who can submit articles for publication. Our plan is to go monthly in the near future. But we need people to get on board.

And as of right now, we don't publish anything that is DnD 4e and Star Wars, because of the very restrictive gaming licenses. So that means, we can publish everything else. We also have permission from Mongoose Publishing to print from their trademarked settings.

So, if you have any reservations, just pick up an issue, it is cheap in price ($3.50 USD), and check it out for yourselves.

Well of course it is worth it! But I may be biased. Just check out the "linky" for a description of some of the contents.

Is this a print mag or pdf only?

(Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber)

Interesting. I too want to know, print or PDF? I would pay extra for print, btw.

Cheliax (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber)

Just went and checked it out. The magazine looks really good.
I aggree though, they need to offer a print version to compete
with the big boys and replace The Dragon/Dungeon. Hope they
do well. They show a lot of promise.

It's PDF only currently. A print mag, if I remember right, needs many advertisements, and the WereDragon Mag has none, thus it is PDF.

Do check it out though. There's some great stuff there.

EDIT: And for the foreseeable future, I don't think there'll be any 4th edition. But Kayla can correct me if I' wrong.

Well not if you use Lulu.com and print on demand. It is a great way to put out actual book when you can not afford a huge printing bill.

The tenuous blossoming of life in the wake of a forest fire.

I'd like to see them kick out an Issue 0 promo before I heap cash upon it.

The website offers a little bit of info about the mag and the forum has one or two supporters. The price is nice though! Been a long time since any mag was only $3.50.

I just bought and downloaded this beastie. I have to say I am impressed with the decent page count (100 pages) and I like the fact that it seems to have some good artwork to go with the articles. Is it going to retain a balance of gaming articles/adventures? Definitely a good first effort, and I would chime in that I would prefer to get a print subscription (since I am a collector by nature)

Thank you for the reviews and suggestions so far. About being actually in print, we would LOVE to. It is our mission in the near future to have just such a thing. I have taken some of your suggestions and put on the website a free 5 page preview for you to view. Keep the suggestions comming, we love the feedback!

EDIT: ditzy me! I forgot the link!WereDragon Archives.

Kayla, Bardic,

Is there a chance WD will be sold through Paizo Downloads in the near future? I'm trying to minimize the number of places I purchase my pdfs.

If Mr. Burgess ever gets back to me, yes, definately!

Coolio.

E-mail sent. I'm sorry this fell off of my radar for a while (things get a bit nuts round here). Looks like a great mag that we would love to have here.

Awesome. I look forward to purchasing and downloading it here at Paizo shortly.

Awesome. I look forward to purchasing and downloading it here at Paizo shortly.

Me too. the only reason I havn't gotten it yet is a minor degree of paranoia associated with buying things online from small sites. Looks interesting. It'd be really cool if we could get printed copies (Lulu.com is a great resource for this, as has been mentioned) and if they were released staggered with KQ. then It would be almost a Mag every month...though Fight On! is also supposed to be quarterly. there may just end up with me gettting a gaming mag every month! yay!

I'll certainly grab a copy of this and check it out -- meanwhile, put in another vote for print. For that, I'd subscribe immediately!

Joela - thank you sincerly for this news.

I am impressed with what I am seeing here, and encourage support for these non-4e magazines that are sprouting up. I am currently cutting my teeth on authoring articles for one of them, and find myself excited about quality gamer magazines that continue support for v.3.5.

Pax Veritas,

No problem. Btw, which mag are you writing for?

It is a nice little piece of work. Having worked on it I am biased. But for $3.50 you get 3 adventures and it is 100 pages in length.

Page count to price it is dirt cheap and has some awesome artwork to boot.

Waiting for your store(?) to be added to Paizo's Download section so I can purchase/download to check it out.

Is the editor's name seriously Rose Cheeks?

Seriously?

Because if so, she has the meanest parents ever.

Magazine looks good though.

I'm not going to buy this without being able to page through it. Release the first half for free, so I can review it for myself.

Hmm... 50 pages for free? I wouldn't know any pay for magazines that does that. However, there is a 5 page teaser on the main website.

Anyway, we have not had one bad review yet in this first week, so I believe it is well worth it, as it is only $3.50 USD for 100 pages.

I hope others enjoy the magazine, as I did working on it.

Well first of, as usual, you spelled my last name wrong. I don't know why everyone thinks to make it plural but, hey I am used to it so its cool :). This is my married name, crazy huh. So, my parents are not mean I was just unlucky enough to fall in love with a man whose last name made my name freaking cutely hillarious (I get called Rosy Cheeks). But its all good because that makes it real hard to forget my name!

Alright, back to business. I have some news about the listing for Paizo. It looks like that is probably not going to happen until Issue #2, possibly #3. I thought I had everything I needed and then something was sprung on me that I am unwilling to do until after the beginning of the year. I am getting everything set up on DriveThruRPG.com however and encourage those of you who are wary about buying from our site to go there. I am having some tecnical troubles with uploading it to them, but will notify you all when things are square.

I would also like to answer a question from earlier:
Yes we will try to keep the mix of articles and adventures pretty much equal. I like "crunch" of all sorts and that is what I intend to have in the magazine. That said I don't expect much, if any, fiction to make our pages.

So, enjoy! I love what I am hearing so far and please feel free to submit something to us!

Thank you for the reply. I am glad you are staying away from fiction, I think that is a distraction in RPG magazines. Even in the heyday of Dragon I often found the fiction they would occasionally print very underwhelming.

If you are interested in submissions, what sort of things are you looking for?

Drivethrurpg.com? It's been a while but I can use them until you're all set up at Paizo.

Pardon me

But that does seem a touch excessive to me
I know there is a free preview posted now

Then again I know we are used to thumbing stuff in the store before we purchase it.
But I don't have that luxury with online items and I am uncertain why you should get half of the work and IP and effort just given to you.

cordially,

We are looking for adventures of any size. One shots, campaigns spanning issues, and everything in between is fine. These are of course for the D20, 3.5 system. Article wise we are looking for new Prestige Classes, monsters, optimizations, reviews of gaming materials; including settings, webites, gamer tools, and the like. We also have a Q&A section called Fatbeard that we need questions for if you aren't in a writing mood. He answers questions about rules problems you may have and gaming problems in general for the d20 system. You can get those to us by going to our boards, under our magazine discussion section. That being said. You can also send us something completely different. If you have a bright idea for something new and interesting by all means send it in. We will look at anything and give it careful consideration.

For all those who may have purchased Issue #1, would it be too much to ask to post a quick review/critique/general feedback on the content?

There are 3 adventures. I have not read them yet.

There are a total of 6 articles and columns. I was involved with 5 of the 6 in some form or another.

Reprinted webcomic that totally rocks.

Some really sweet artwork scattered through it.

Ok, so I apparently spoke too soon. With the recent change of hands here at Paizo I AM able to list and sell WereDragon here. Great news! I am having some technical difficulties though, so it might be a couple of days yet.

JOY! Now I can read it and get back with a review at some point. Yay!

Hi there Loius,

I am taking over the advertising coordination duties for Weredragon Magazine. I will email you so we can open up the dialogue. Rate sheet and details will be available shortly.

I can't figure out how to subscribe. /:(

Hello Cleaver

It is not a subscription based yet. You can get the first issue on the Weredragon Site, from here on Paizo, and one other site as well. If you have regular paypal then easy enough is on Weredragon site. If you are more hesitant then here on Paizo is the best option for you.

Any other concerns feel free to email me at advertising@weredragonmag.com which I check daily and I will be happy to assist.
