What's your favorite class?

Rogue. Sorry, always has been.

Oo, this is a toughie. I favor 3 base classes and one other class.... Hmm... Dang, this is hard. I'll have to side with Monk as a favorite, followed by Druid.

I still choose wizard even after 25+ years of this game. I enjoy that they can turn a situation on its head with the right spell.

I just wish they still called them "magic-users" in the books.

Second choice: Binder.

Conan rulz! Barbarian rage for the win!

I chose Rogue because Conan rulz!

Since i first read lord of the rings it has always been ranger.

I voted "Other" because I honestly don't have a favorite. I like to play a variety of classes. The only classes I don't especially like are bard, paladin, and sorcerer...and I played a paladin from 1st to 20th level in the Age of Worms not too long ago, so even those preferences aren't particularly strong.

Fighter. Straightup. Bastard Sword-EWP Bastard Sword-Cleave-Mighty Cleave etc...etc...
No need have I for diplomacy or charisma.
Shadrach from Perdido all the way.
I'm in bliss right now, because all the other classes are pretty well covered (we need a cleric!!!)
Bill, we gotta play together, cos I hate being a wizard, and if you love it, then that's poifik!!! Jus cast one of them strongerness spells and I'll kick in the door and you nukem or whatever. Then I'll chop on them some.
We just need a bard to do all the talkin. And rock out so I can feel heroic and do more damages or whatever.

i said fighter because of the feats on top of feats you get.although it was a hard choice because i love the cleric as well.

Osirion (RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32)

My favourite has always been Ranger, ever since I started playing 2nd ed. (Basic Red Box doesn't count). I was especially happy when they did away with the "Good" Alignment Restriction in 3.5. =)

I like to be able to bring down the wrath of the gods down on folk. Cleric all the way! :D

What!? No Expert!? No Aristocrat!? ;-)

Actually, I like em all!!! But if you force me to pick...Rogue babyee!

The Wizard

Nobody beat the Wiz, nobody beats the Wiz. (That will mean nothing to most of you--local ad from a decade ago)

I've always been a fan of rangers, since 2nd edition. The blend of stealth and fighting, dual wielding weapons, surviving on skills as much as on martial prowess; the whole package just seems cool to me. Even if they aren't as amazing in combat as a fighter or barbarian (though this is changed a bit if a ranger multiclasses), I've always loved the option to fight with two weapons. Add in some light spellcasting and an animal companion, and they can be more self-sufficient than many other classes.

No love for bards, monks, or sorcerors -- that surprises me.

...

OK, the bard isn't a surprise.

Andoran (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber)

Wizard. But rangers are cool, too. And clerics. And fighters. Come to think of it, I like all of 'em except the bard.

But wizards are the coolest.

*Did say Monk*

Bard ... (Sheesh, like there really was any other choice ...)

Because of a bard's high charisma -- they always get the girl!

Daigle wrote:

Clerics are nice too.

Ranger with the Barbarian a close second.

Fizz

Rogue, followed by druid and then warlock.

I voted for Ranger ... always my favorite since 1st edition and high school ... but it was a tossup with the Wizard (if the Knight or Beguiler had been here maybe they could have tempted me)

Bravo Senor Teter!

I like the imbedded results at the top of these poll threads.

Thanks.

I like all the classes in some way. Monk is good. Fighter is cool. Love wizard... Dragon Shaman, Sword Sage, Binder, Knight and Archivist are amazing fun to play.

I will go for Archivist... f o r n o w !

Andoran (Pathfinder Charter Superscriber; GameMastery Maps Subscriber)

I always played a rogue, ranger or druid. My favorite though is the rogue (so much skill points and so much versatility!).
I am about to try the factotum from the new DUNGEONSCAPE book. This new standard class looks so cool. It seems to be the perfect npc for my group of three players!
Anyone who loves the rogue should check the factotum!!!

I'll go with the Sorcerer. I love spell casters but I can't say that going through my spell list picking spells every day is really my favourite part of the game. Also I love the way Sorcerers are unique. With such a limited number of spell choices each one is different from the next.

While I hate picking spells every day I love crafting the spell choices for each level. Every spell choice for a Sorcerer is important because they (ideally) come in handy in a number of situations. Finally I like the fact that I get to use my spells pretty much all the time. So long as I have the spell for the job on my list I can usually cast it. I find with the wizard that half the time many of your spell choices where not needed today. This can serously reduce the number of times a wizard can actually cast spells in a given session.

I like Favoured Souls a lot as well but they are just so whimpy compared to the standard Cleric that I can't justyify playing one. Bonus feats would be a good fix - there are tons of good cleric feats and the one really big weakness of a cleric is that they have very few feats and can't take advantage of the large number of options available.

Be a roguish cleric (or a clerical thief). Start with a level of rogue...see the light...and presto! Some skills and all the goodness of blasting those pesky undead back into the netherworld. Wait, I'm undead and chose cleric.

I like the scout, it was love on first sight.

Now, my favorite class...Bard. BUT I've never actually PLAYED a bard in an actual campaign...though I have a level 1 pretty legit Standard Rolled (Surprisingly enough great stats off of Pathguy's Javascript Character Generator on the first standard roll...which is either what I go with or I roll it myself, but I couldn't have duplicated such good bard stats...)

Sure, played around with the class on Neverwinter Nights...

I lean toward multiclass builds a lot. I should really be gearing up to play in gestalt games, but I can't say that's a popular calling around here.

Anyway, the classes (in 3rd edition and 3.5) I have played/created the most fall somewhat in this order of most frequent (and supposedly most liked):

Fighter, Ranger, Cleric, Barbarian, Rogue, Monk, Warmage- though I played a grand total of 3 sessions of a Fighter/Warmage build, I'm way more familiar with monk (though I built a Sleeping Tiger Monk from unearthed arcana for me and helped build one for a player in my campaign) as it is a core class anyway- it gains my favor first as it has certain...strengths.

but yeah, I'm about to post some thoughts and inquiries on the Warmage and multiclass builds with it...

I think of all those, I like playing the ranger the most, although I've yet to play a straight ranger. (I'm doing a Fighter/Revised Urban Ranger in a homebrew, etc. Did a ranger/cleric and a rogue/ranger/monk combo- which was insane but yet to be fully exploited, etc.)

But yes, I think I polled honestly with the Bard as I'm big on Knowledge rolls- making the bard one of the most powerful characters possible in a knowledge is power kind of campaign or adventure- nevermind mass buffs and spellcasting support and roguish abilities.

While I like the potential of non-base/core classes like the Marshal or Warmage, I generally find them unappealing in standard play. (Honestly, if anyone has info on the 2nd Edition War Wizard, that would rock- maybe 2 sessions into that one and I loved the class concept- what I'm basing my Fighter/Warmage Elf on now...if I had played it more it might be my all-time favorite class ever.)

PS: If anyone is seriously considering running a gestalt (even playing in one, or hell any kind of good D&D game) campaign in the near future (hell, even in the next 2-3 years) in the areas of Gainesville, FL., Eugene, OR., or anywhere in the immediate vicinity of northern or central Alabama...I would consider adding that to things influencing my future plans concerning Graduate School, moving, and Job searches.

But yeah, if I were all about skill points and didn't roll extra good supplementally high INT, Rogue Bard Ranger Wizard, absolutely in that order.

(Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Roleplaying Game, Campaign Setting, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

I'm going with Paladin. I'm a sword and shield kind of guy, and although a fighter is cool with this, a fighter isn't really what I was going for. Besides I'm a fairly spiritual guy. Standing in the forefront of your party against the hordes of the Abyss with only your sword and a belief in something; that's one of the "static" D&D images I always have in my head. Although I do have a penchant for the Knight, now that the PHB2 is out.

I also love the Bard and the Druid afterwards (from an RP standpoint). On the other hand, every class has their appeal, and I can see each one equally doing awesome things in their own field. Hmmm... Maybe that's why I like DMing, to give the characters the chance for those cool things to happen.

(Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber)

By far my choice would have to be most of the psionic type classes(Psychic Warrior, Psion, Ardent,Lurk). There is something to say about a class that doesn't need the weave or a gods blessing to have the ability to use its mystical powers. Then when you can combine martial prowess with the strength of your own mind as in the Pschic Warrior, oh man it all you, no strings attached(though you still can have a high power to pray to).

Though if I had to choose from the core classes it would be Ranger, Druid.

I have always enjoyed playing clerics. The basic four are still the best. Don't get me wrong, some of the new classes are great (ex. sorceror, scout, swashbuckler), but most of them are marginal or just terrible(shukenja, marshal, samurai, healer).

Sorcerer, they are just oozing power.

Hello? Celestial Healer? Cleric of course.

1. No one ever leaves the cleric behind somewhere.

2. Everyone tries to keep the cleric alive.

3. No matter the situation, no one in the party claims the cleric is useless.

4. Repeat numbers 1 and 2.

There's multiple people who want to play clerics? Where are you guys? I allers have to suck it up and be cleric. And then run in and do fightin' cos I can't help myself, only I goss no feats and big swords that I can wield one handed and cleave with and stuff, cos I GOTTA WRITE SCROLLS!!!

Cleric players just aren't dispersed evenly. I think you either love it or hate it.

Well Heathy, you'll just have to move up north and we can form a group together.

Naah...if I go anywhere else it'll be Costa Rica, or maybe Austin, Tx if I could ever find a job there in my field that paid.
I hates cold!!!

Yes Heathy...relocate south down I-35 a little ways.

I would if I could dump the house without too much of a loss and find a place that paid. I got two toddlers right now, and a wife that isn't working, so there's not much I can do about lateral movement. Any place with bats under the bridges, and near to multiple caves, and bumperstickers that say, "keep Austin weird" is aces in my book.

*edit* I hope something like this can happen in the next 5-10 years, though.

More cleric love here. Aforementioned raining down of divine destruction cited as number one reason. Second reason: Everybody loves a band-aid.

Wizards, followed by clerics as a close second. =)

(Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Modules Subscriber)

Wizard, because as a player I love trying to outwit the entire world and pick just the right spells. But my all-time favorirte character was a ranger, and I'm big into paladins right now for some reason... probably because everyone hates them so much. Paladin/psychic warrior is my new favorite class combo.

Overall: Ninja

Core Rules: Cleric (followed closely by Rogue)

always been the rogue... skills, sneak attack and usefullness

Scout. ( I think I'm the first one here... <.<;; >.>;;)

But for core rules, I'd say ranger archer non-magical variant.

-Kurocyn

Rogues first, I like the skill position, and then warlock. Warlocks are just plain cool...

I only like the core classes for the most part.

For me it is a nine way tie between Druid, Bard, Barbarian, Ranger, Rogue, Wizard, Sorcerer, Monk, and fighter.

But their doesn't seem to be a lot of Monk love floating around so you can put me down for the original oriental adventurer.

.......you never forget your first....

Whoooo! fight the power Erik!

P.S. I really hate Paladins
