I figured out what the killer rabbit is....

It's a very high-level fighter baleful polymorphed into a cute little bunny...

From the SRD: "It still retains its class and level (or HD), as well as all benefits deriving therefrom (such as base attack bonus, base save bonuses, and hit points)."

I pity the poor Transmuter who discovered that particular fighter had 20 ranks in Jump, and Weapon finesse.

Just thought I'd share.

And of course it must be armed with Vorpal Teeth...could these therefore be removable magic vorpal teeth used by the fighter and possibly a future magic item worthy of some mighty quest?

Maybe the polymorphed fighter managed to somehow get somebody to put magical enhancement on his/her teeth. "I'll trade you this +4 keen Vorpal greatsword if you can put the same abilities onto my teeth." Of course, communication would be an issue and some combination of magic fang and a standard weapon enhancement would have to be made...but I'm sure it's possible.

Well... Lesse... Gnomes can speak with burrowing animals once a day, and A rabbit is a burrowing animal...So: High-level Gnome druid lives in the cave, and the rabbit's his guardian/animal companion. The druid has developed an advanced version of greater magic fang which also makes the teeth keen. He casts this spell on the little beastie each morning, and needn't worry all day about being bothered by pesky adventurers looking for some silly cup. As for how he GOT a high-level fighter as an animal companion... Perhaps it went like this:

Fighter comes looking for silly cup. Gnome gets annoyed. With a wave of his hand, he tells the fighter to be quiet, and polymorphs him into a rabbit. Then, while he's still confused from suddenly becoming a lop-eared rodent, the druid through judicial applications of diplomacy and bluff checks, uses gnomish trickery to fool the fighter into thinking he's just been saved by the druid from a Fate Worse Than Death(r). Undyingly loyal from that point on, the fighter serves the druid as his animal companion.

Stop this - its getting silly.

Wierdly, I've just sent a submission to Dungeon based on this very same Rabbit with a few cunning alterations.

So how about someone working up the stats for the legendary black beast of argh then?

Why make it all so complicated, hm? It´s a rather easy thing to do. Just take an everyday normal rabbit and add the paragon template from The Epic Handbook to it. Done!

It has a disgusting AC, insane ability scores, and the damage it does is horrifying. All you have to do is just simply give it the ability to sever heads on a successful critical hit, which is justified by boosting its CR by +1. Or if you prefer, you can use the Campaign Guide from d20 Star Wars for called shots to make a called shot to the neck/head area and as an DM, dealing sufficient to that particular area, you could rule that it was enough to kill the poor fellow. Of course, if I remember correctly, the AC to hit the neck or head area was an additional 12 points higher than normal.

However, a paragon rabbit should not have a hard time accomplishing that given that the template gives it a +25 insight bonus to attack and +15 modifier to all ability scores. Give the rabbit Weapon Finesse and it will use its teeth to cleave left and right.

With the paragon template, the rabbit is ONLY going to have a CR of 18 or 19, if I remember correctly offhand. Not even epic. ;)

Me too!!! ...Well, great minds. ;)

I would but then I would suffer a heart attack trying to figure out its 5 pages of epic stats.... Besides, I'd rather sing!

Oops, my house is sinking. Guess I'll have to put an addition on top.

GGG

I'm going to have to get me a DVD of the movie and watch the scene very carefully. Everyone calls him (I'm assuming he's a him, it could be a lady bunny you know) a "vorpal bunny" but was he really a vorpal bunny, or was he just a jugular biting bunny? The latter could be simulated with a good number of rogue skills. (Sneak attack with bite would do it nicely.)

Bear in mind that Arthur and his knights are ... well I wouldn't even give them a CR1 frankly, one level of an NPC class each and they ought to be grateful. They can't even defeat Frenchmen!

They could be magical teeth. But they would need to be masterwork first. Can you imagine the amount of dental work needed to get those buckteeth up to scratch?

Never mind the consequence of biting your tongue. ouch...
