"Captain" Devannis Pantera wrote:

I really think it was the pirate jokes that pushed it over - as far as I'm concerned, I am no pirate at heart, and that was not the concept for my character's life as it stands.

He's simply the captain of the ship, in his eyes - I do want to grab Legendary Captain, so I may inspire us to further heights (It was tempting to grab Bard instead of Swashbuckler, but this makes more sense).

The closest thing we'll do to pirating is surviving off vessels that try to take advantage of us. I can guarantee, however, anyone who tries to swipe the Brotherhood will see Davy Jones' locker.

EDIT: Also, if his contribution does remain, Kai'itza, then we should invest in a spyglass (It is hefty at the even 1000, but it's well worth it!)

Agreeed!

Hopefully you liked what i tried to put together for the ship above we can flesh it out some more I just didn't want to break it down to the ounce in supplies sine it would be tedious to say 'we used an ounce of cinnamon today.

But lets modify it as we need to to make it our own~

I did like it, and I printed it out on paper to keep a record of our current ship before any further modifications. I will say, I'm buying netting with some of my gold for the ... (port?) right side, since it's most at risk with the stairwell. But, uh, yes, other than that, I'm going to decorate my cabin. Mwahaha.

Lol i'm glad =) I was trying mimic some of the ships of old and what supplies they carried so we could have the real feel, sort of lol. I forget about fishing tackle and fishing nets, Kai'itza has 4 sets of fishing nets on his character but other then that we can add or detract as we need to to make the ship fit with willpowers setup. Tried to keep it descriptive but kinda vague too, since I didn't think that would be the final version.

Off to work,

Cheers

I admit, I've missed a few details myself; this is the first chance I've had to sit down and really read through the other characters' descriptions/contributions. Ok, I'll stick with my original idea. And yes, I'm still throwing in 1k gold for the ship's fund.

I've picked a favored enemy, btw, and am starting to seriously allocate equipment. Should have the finishing touches by ... well, by the time serious play starts.

Edit: Willpower, I'm not completely ignoring the Feytouched template and other options you presented, but I'm sticking with the basic concept of 'half-elf with unusual origins' for now. 2 reasons - first, I have a feeling that, especially with a group this large, simplicity will work best; second, the half-elf traits are as strong as I think they should go. Thanks anyway.

*raises hand* I'm also happy to throw 1K towards the bot..sorry, ship and her fitting out.

Character slowly coming together.

Cheers!

I will give all money except for clothing and a quarterstaff and give it to ship, trade goods and provitions.

I take that back.

Lmao xD

Oops! Looks like after buying equipment, I'm in the same state Olek is. (V_V)

I have 140 Gp left after buying things...That's only a few bottle of good rum, in'it?

Cheers.

Awe screw it I'm a reaver not a bow man also didn't we get the first balista for free so I have 1056 gold left I give it to the ship just remember ima big boy and I need a lot room when your handing them out I some how managed to gear out for 1043 gold and then I have 100 left over from magic so take the reast and help heck buy some gatling crossbows they are like 400 gp but they kick but if you can find them idk where I have seen them before I will post backstory on sun or mon as I work all weekend every weekend bleh hun??

Bump wow its been dead today everyone alright out there??

Lol na I think we are waiting on some more info from our glorious DM, who is swamped at work, so I can understand a cool down in the excitement until he returns although it does look like he posted some more traits =) under his profile.

Besides that i'm still working on fleshing out the ship some more since alot of my postings were a rough draft until approved by the Dm.

Just don't want Willpower to think i'm stomping on his toes >.>; I sometimes do that because I was a DM for a long friggen time.... T.T;

Besides that I think everyone is still working on characters alittle bit as well.

So will the xtra cash help out and so far I'm still working out my background

I think my basic mechanics are done. I must admit to not having a great handle on the worlds background. Either the world we're in or the world we've left.

Again, after buying the exotic seeming weapons and such I have very little money going back into the kitty, as it were. Sorry about that.

I think, after spending money on clothes, I'll have about 100 Gp to add back.

Cheers!

Wow I feel like some kinda bankroll for the ship lol

I maybe shouldn't be a boatswain until later looking at my skill pts I don't have the pts to build profession salior and probably won't until I can ethier take a class with more skill pts or hit third lvl as is I am going to take a feat to give me some more sps so I can take another one later lol

We may end up not spending anything on the ship or just a small amount here or there. mainly waiting to hear back from Willpower if he likes the setup or if he will present us with what he wants since he's the master of the whole show. :) Mainly just trying to help a brother out lol. The one thing that i think he may not approve of is the rotating platform but that is also why i placed only one ballista on a rotating platform setup. That way we have a decent ship defense but we aren't just a rolling tank.

I contemplated ship plating as well but!! It sounded like such preparations might not have been available at all if the world was in Armageddon mode and our doom was coming in days and not weeks.

Once he is less swamped we will see more clarification about what is what and what will be.

I know but I just really don't have anything to spend the rest on so like I said you have another 1056 to spend on ship stuff I mean I bought waepons and armor the best I wanted I really then I got everything else a reaver would think he would need so gear the ship out man and like I said I need to be a marine on the ship I'm not even suited to deckape skill wise lol

Just checking in - I'll have my captain finished and done by the evening, if not by tomorrow morning. I'm really looking forward to this game.

Also, Willpower, I apologize if I started something you weren't looking forward to. I figured since it's very Waterworld-esque, that there'd be plenty of sailing and so forth - and so to sail, you need a boat, eh?

Also - I'm trying to find the prices of furniture. Anyone have them? :)

Lmao, furniture for the small cabin on the Pinnace! xD Besides that it'll be interesting figuring where everyone is going to sleep. Especially since you got Finn and I who stand in the high 7' ranges >.<; most likely i'll be sleeping on deck where-ever i can find a spot to rest my back against and where my head is firmly against a wall and not the railing. I don't fancy a new slit to breath through, if you get my meaning.

It is nice all the excitement behind this pbp though so nonetheless we may as well keep the excitement going maybe even hash out our characters some more. Or wait until the ooc thread comes up but my biggest question is how many people are on are little expedition?

Around 9-12 I think last i checked so its going to be an epic game.

An epic game, assuming everyone who has responded here responds in-game. I've had some bad experiences that way, but I hope for the best.

Anyway, I'm including a hammock in my equipment, and don't mind sleeping above-decks, so that's my sleeping arrangements settled.

I'm still here doing research on the orginal old one eye for my background and working out some ideas for build progression think I might go skald at some point there's a nice class for it in races of faerun ethier that or bear warrior maybe idk yet got to see how this plays out although the one think that bothers me bout this world is that there is like no land which means I gotta figure out how to hold my breath better lol

Ah yes! As I have understood (and sorry for the video) we were just mainly tossing out ideas and joking around about pirate-theme.

As Pantera and Kai´itza have mentioned, this is just a preparing for the sea-voyage but Willpower is making the campaing here and we are just roleplaying it / offering new ideas and testing it out. Interesting will be as there has been mentioned, the theme of talking and acting, rather than combat and I am wanting to see, how I am able to perform with LE with bunch of Goodies and Neutrals while only I am Evil one (hehe). This is just as I believe an interesting background story (just sailing around in a ship) while trying to follow the general RP idea, not solely based on theme of "piratism".

Hopefully this will clear some misunderstanding. Just seems to me that we all are really excited about this game.

PS: well, if I am the generally the surgeon or acting doctor in ship, I might have to have my own private room, which also acts as a operating workplace

Hey doc you can always try to slide me over remember my gods all just killed each other and had the end of the world and left this poor reaver out of it so he will probably need some guidance

hmm... interesting idea :P If you would be my bodyguard Finn? Having reaver in front of me taking the blows like 'cough'sandbag'cough' to protect his boss 'cough'master of evil'cough' :)

The idea would be that when I am LE and you are CN, I am kind of hiring you to keep me guard and check out things for me while I provide support and care for you. Trickery domain... well, what else can I can say :P Fooling a half-giant to do my bindings in most part would be interesting idea as also taking care of you... after all, LE is kinda of "my property, others dont touch or feel my wrath".

Maybe took care of you and saw potential of ideal subordinate 'cough'slave'cough :)

I don't know about the cough "slave" cough thing but he came here directly from the cold lands so devlope it in play heck the pallys got just as much of a chance as you right now unless the druids get there first I might relate to them better or I might not depends on how they are played so who ever gets there first with a good convincing arguement heck If we've got a wizard and they work hard I might jump that way heck if I know

Okay so anyone who is onterested in helping me flesh out finn a bit look for the thread "help ragnarok has come and gone and I'm still here". Sorry my link fu is very weak and nonexistant when on my crackberry aný ideas or arguments will help I'm just having issuses wraping my head round this for him so I need a few pointers please and thank you guys

In other news *pokes the dm to see if he's alive* hope work let's up off you man

Still alive. Wed this week(tomorrow) I may have more info to get you started, and if not then Friday this week should get most of the info rolled out. If I fail, I may start the game and not give you the luxury or all the info I wanted to roll out, but a bare bones synopsis if I need to, as I wanted to start this by next week.

Does our illustrous ship have a name yet? Perhaps we can call it The Egress, seeing as how it was what allowed us to leave the doomed world?

Egress definition(in case needed)

@Willpower: Is Wildshape affected by the loss of magic? I ask because I'm thinking of two ways to play Nerine, the "can't catch water with your hands" way and the "fury of the sea" way...

Fury of the Sea is only when she gets really mad though.

EDIT: Also, can we put 1st level spells in 2nd level slots, or are the 2nd level slots unavailable?

EDIT 2: The Deep One traits speaks of a having unraveled "a bit of the puzzle". Is this information you'll provide or something I have to make up?

1.> Wildshape is a Supernatural ability, and is not affected by the spell change stuff.

2.> Yes you can add a lower level spell in a higher spell slot.

3.> A bit of the puzzle means you can cast some spells, even though there is no divine connection. The piece you know of it requires you to do the blood thing, as to why it works, no you don't really know yet.

So 'sacrifice' might be an IC idea as to why it works, which could equally apply to arcane spellcasting too. But this isn't really math with only 1 answer per problem :)

I will wild-shape into a typical lovecraftian Deep One, or maybe a Manta Ray. Perhaps a penguin. I hear they are efficient swimmers.

Our ship does have a name - I labeled it as The Brotherhood, seeing as we all banded together to ensure our safe route away from the doomed world.

Also, I'm sorry I haven't finished my equipment list - I'm trying to find something real special to flesh my character further.

Hey quatermaster you out there?? I need like three gold back from the last bunch I gave you

And I kinda like brotherhood better it sounds more like a viking ship than egress sorry ;)

oh i'm lurking here abouts ;). If you need 3 gp then it shouldn't be an issue alot of the items I placed in the hull of the brotherhood were fairly cheap. I'm still working on a breakdown but 3 gp will not be missed lol. =)

edit:

@ Willpower: the deep one is a background trait correct and because of that you can't have more then one of the background traits right?

I'm reworking my feat and fixing up my character some before the final day and since i kinda wasted my feat on something i can gain by getting a level in fighter i'm going to use it for something more useful >.>;

If thats okay with you ^^;

Thanks man had to buy. Raven or two some ash seeds and a set of runes

All I know is I can't wait to start just trying to figure out what trait to take and I have a few updates that I will make to finn once I get net on my lap to as I can just cut and paste

Willpower @ Is it possible to take Darkness as my second domain... since reading through all the materials of 3.5 editions etc. Everzwhere they speak Nerull as God of Darkness, Murder etc

Description reflects perfectly what Nerull is but then there seem to be loss of domain/s. Pestilence disappears at one point (can´t remember for now which book was removed) and Darkness is also one of trademarks, although it´s not descriped...

So, I though to ask you then if allowed, I am considering of having Darkness as my 2nd domain, if possible

Nerull is death trickery war and evil at least that's what the return to the temple of elemental evil says that's what I'm playing right now

If your a cleric you can pick any 2 domains, as long as it's not homebrew. I have no prob with Darkness, or other domains seen here: Domains

I'm going to give the cliff notes version, as time is cramped here. I wanted to have a bunch of traits and background traits done but that looks rather impossible at the moment.

So I want to open that up to you guys perhaps. If you think you can come up with a background trait that might fit the world and want to design one custom I'll consider it. Use the ones I provided as a power level/skill bonus example, or Paizo's and run with it.

Try to link it thematically with the world if possible.

The cliff notes history is as follows:

The old world (Forgotten Realms) was destroyed by a series of several cataclysmic events.

1.) The Betrayal of King Gold Hammer, The Dwarven King who conspired against all people to further his ambitions, and line his coffers with more gold, entered into a demonic pact that allowed permanent gates to be established with the underworld and the prime material plane. The demons later turned on him and infested the lands.

2.) The Destruction of the Core. Unbeknown to most surface dwellers, deep Dwarves, in an attempt to flee the demonic plagues they themselves brought to the lands flee to the underground, and unstabilize the world itself by expansive tunneling. This causes massive rifts in the worlds surface, volcanic eruptions, and massive chasms to form all over civilized lands. The world itself is primed to crack in half.

3.) Deep Terrors Find the Sun. Things better left sleeping in the darkest depths of the worlds oceans stir and start hunting the seas making ocean voyages deadly and nearly impossible. Some monstrous creatures spill out into coastal cities decimating everything in their wake. Very few coastal cities had the firepower to repel such a magnitude of enemies, (those that did tie into the defender of the portal background trait.)

4.) Day of the Dead. The land is restless and so too are those that once rested in it's embrace. The dead rise from their graves in reckless slaughter of the living in a mindless rage. Empowered by demonic energies, these undead prove to be a serious threat, and those they slay instantly rise and swell the ranks of undead to epidemic levels. Only the cleansing fires of purification (spells blessed by holy power that also dealt fire damage, or fire sources blessed by clerics) put down these undead for good.

So there is some quick events that happened at the end before the escape you can draw some ideas from.

Resist the temptation to make 'gonzo' level of power for your background traits. They should roughly equal a feat in scope of power, and maybe a tad more if it fits tight into the theme.

The game plans to start in, or around a town called Lands End. One of the first cities established in the new world on one of the few strips of land around.

I'm setting it only 2 years after the Great Exodus, the time when the last ship fled the old world, and the portals closed permanently.

So you may have explored this new world a bit, or done whatever your background allows.

New World tidbits:
The new world portals have allowed animals to migrate into this new world, but with such limited land space, most ground game and animals are having a hard time adapting and finding lairs or nesting areas. Fish however is quite plentiful and exotic, and with minimal gear you can pull plenty of fish from the seas for sport or meal.

Lands End is one of the most advanced cities considering the small time it had to be set up and running. Basic services include blacksmiths, leather workers, arcane schools (who are quite frustrated.), churches (who still go through the motions with 0 results.), and other basic amenities.

No natives. There has been no signs of native intelligent life. There have been unexplained disappearances on the outskirts of Lands End where there has not been much exploring to date. Hunters have tracked down odd animal footprints and brought back tales of strange beasts, but no actual carcasses have been procured.

Alright boss I'll see what I can come up with my character will be ready to go on monday sorry have to work like 50 hrs this weekend but then I'm off

Pretty sure it's just skills to finalize for me. Looking forwards to role playing with every one. =)

Much cheers!

Okay so I'm waiting on a judgement on my trait and tomorrow so I can be off and pst up my skill list and background

Willpower, I hope you don't mind, but I simply added the Ancestral Relic to my feat list in lieu of a 'trait'. Trait seem to be as much RP hooks as feat-type enhancements, and the sword looked like as good as hook as any.

Unless there is anything else, I think I'm ready to go.

Well, the "doctor/surgeon" is ready :) Except... instead of healing you... you might get directly from the bloody hell of battlefield to different dimension of hell of nightmares in surgeontable ahah! "Cure is not a option... only in death and misery you can find the truth and be one who you truly want to be! Kill or be killed. That is the law"

Waiting to get to play with everyone :) Hopefully Willpower got easy time and not so stressed. We understand the hectic time of life and work

So glad I'm going to try to learn runes even if I have to stab myself in the the side and hang from and ash tree for 9 days like Odin. I also hope work let's up off of will I should get everything updated for myself this afternoon after I sleep

That works.

And if anyone else also wants to grab a free feat in lieu of a trait for this game I will allow that if it fits your story as well.

I emailed you back Finn. I'm ready to start this game Friday, albeit with less info on the back story as I wanted, but I can roll that out as we go in flashbacks or some other narrative style, but as for the game it should be ready to start this Friday.

I don't see any major issues with the characters here, and I will get you the boat stats I promised before Friday, or at least Friday if I get busy again.

My Dell at home freezes up every ten minutes and there's a service request today for them to come replace some parts and try to fix it. I'm not holding my breathe this will fix it, but the Dell tech said it was the next step. Which explains my slow response time this week and last.

W.

computer troubles always suck >.<

sorry for not posting as much, been playing SC 2 since i got home, also working on rounding out my character the rest of the way and finish writing up the book that his back-story had become. Been adding on to his personality as well.

Starting Friday sounds good to me, no rush~ don't want you starting up all irritated because your comp isn't working right. So I say take your time =)

Ohhhh, I hope I'm not too late. Is there any room in your game for a slightly traumatized bard? I can have her ready by the morning if not earlier. If so, just let me know where to send the info!

Thanks for reading this...if I am too late I wish you all well in this exciting world concept!
