Starting up a couple PBP PFS sessions on RPOL.net. If you're interested head here.

http://rpol.net/game.cgi?gi=43231&date=1282455982

Everything is explained there that I think needs explaining. Though feel free to prove me wrong. :)

Could be interested, although I'll have to make a Pathfinder Society character as I haven't played in the shared campaign before.

What do you mean by needing a scanner? I do everything electronically, paper never comes into it.

Andoran (Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber)

Anyone else having trouble signing into Rpol? And seconded on scanner?

Not sure on the scanner need, but I could scan stuff as needed.

I am also familiar with the rpol.net....

I am thinking of a male human witch.........

Scanner is needed for your character sheet and the chronicle sheets if you've played the character before. If it's your first time playing then you could get away with not having a scanner, but I'd need everything from your character sheet that's on a PFS character sheet in some digital form that's easy to read.

Are we supposed to pick any faction or did you have one in mind for the PC's?

This would be the first one for me. I can get the PC made up and go ahead and enter it directly into rpol.net.......

Oooh! This sounds fun! I too have never made a PFS character, but have been itching to try my hand at it, and this sounds like a great way to get my feet wet.

Please count me in!

Will the records saved here not suffice?

Me'mori wrote:

I'm not sure how I'd access your records honestly. If you know how, and I've just missed it, please let me know.

I am sending a request to join over on the other site....

My Pathfinder Society

That should lead anyone with notations to their page, from which they can link their characters to the GM. I'd like to play, but don't have the SoS book.

That takes me to my personal characters. :)

Have 8 players interested atm. So have room for 2 more players. Drop by the link above if you're interested.

You don't have to own that book as a player (unless you want to use something out of it). Rather, the DM is expected to own it and the whole book is permissible for PFS.

Pg. 3 of The Pathfinder Society Organized Play Guide:

The Core Assumption
Pathfinder Society Organized Play assumes that every player has a copy of the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook and a copy of Pathfinder Chronicles: Seekers of Secrets, A Guide to the Pathfinder Society, and that every Game Master (GM)has the above plus a copy of the Pathfinder RPG Bestiary. Unless noted in later chapters, everything contained in the Core Rulebook and Seekers of Secrets is legal for play in Pathfinder Society Organized Play. This includes base classes, feats, spells, equipment, and even prestige classes. While new Pathfinder RPG books in the future may be added to this core assumption, there are many other Pathfinder-brand products that are not part of the core, but have aspects that are legal for play. Please see Chapter 13 for details on additional resources for Pathfinder Society Organized Play. This chapter will be frequently updated as new Pathfinder products are released.

Fairly certain that it has been said in the past that SoS isn't really a 'must have' as it introduces another stumbling block for new players.

For new players nothing is required, but for continued and repeating characters it would be a required IMO. Hard to know how to be a pathfinder if you haven't read what it means to be a pathfinder and everything a pathfinder goes through.

So the DM ruling on this is?

Osirion (Pathfinder Adventure Path, GameMastery Maps Subscriber)

You can run it as you like, but that isn't how it is intended to work. A player doesn't have to own anything to sit down at a PFS table. They can make a character using the free Guide to play and the prd which is free on this site. They /should/ own these books for ease of play and in the case of SoS for flavor mostly- but I don't think players are commonly turned away for not having either when they sign up for a session.

Core Assumption means that when a scenario references an item or something like that they do not feel the need to reprint all of its stats etc in the text of the scenario. It means they can say "Blood spindle ion stone" SoS p 55 and it is assumed that you can look it up. Likewise a character can use things from Core Assumption books (feats, traits, purchased items) and it is assumed that the dm has a copy. Any book that is not part of this core requires the player to physically bring that book to the table in case it comes up during play. Obviously we make exceptions for that to run games online.

Here is where it came up in the FAQ:

OK and I have registered my PC with PF society.......

Me'mori wrote:

While I'd like you to possess it since IMO it isn't a huge expenditure to grab the PDF, I realistically can't enforce it, and would never know the difference if you did or did not own it. So, yes, you can play without SoS.

sent it private message at rpol.net

Sorry, I am going to have to drop out. I will likely not have the time and I don't want to make others wait on me.

Yes, I'm going to bail as well. I've decided to kick off my own hombrew campaign, instead. If anyone is interested, look here.

I've been wanting to get into PFS games, what would be the posting schedule at RPOL.net? I would be bringing in a fresh PFS Character, probably the one I'm stating up on my Paizo account, Witch Doktor Jakull, Half-Orc Alchemist. I have all the requisite books and then some...and when do you start?

Edit: This guy, he's not done yet...

My first group is on it's way, with group 2 in the process of forming ie we could use more players. We've currently have 1 player who is creating a new character. If you're interested drop by. Link is above.

Where do I make a "Character" on RPOL? or do you want me just to post it here?

You don't make a character here, or on RPOL.net. You either get the digital sheet off my RPOL game in the "start here" section or use another form such as an editable PDF and send it to me. I have no preferred method for how I get the sheet, as long as I get it.

Then posting it on the official PFS section of Paizo works? I'll use the format you have set-up...

What
I was asking is how I make a character name change for RPOL, I used my standard Xaaon name since I assumed we'd be able to change it, but I can't find a way to make any alias' on RPOL.net

IIRC, that is done by the DM when they allow you access to the game. Most of the things that are handled are done on the DM's end of things, with the players mostly just posting.

Ah cool, thanks.

Jakuul is now complete, I also sent him to you at RPOL, since I sent that version in your format, I'm going to update this sheet to something more legible for myself.

When I was putting it in a format more readable to me, I noticed a couple mistakes, this sheet is corrected, the one I remember was my attribute bonuses for saves FORT/REF saves were flipped. They're good on my sheet.

Hopefully we'll generate a bit more interest!!!!

Come on Pathfinders!!! Gear up time to explore.

GM??

GM is AWOL since sept 1......

I have no info......

I'm still around. I don't check this particular thread everyday, but I do NORMALLY check the other thread (RPOL) every day. I had my brother and friends over all day yesterday and we had an epic 15 hour D&D session. Then I promptly passed out due to my brain shutting down.

Looking for GMs familiar with Pathfinder RPG and it's organized play rules. I have more demand for games than I am personally willing to run. I want to be able to help as many players as I can and thus I am looking for help. If you're able to help come by my game.

http://rpol.net/game.cgi?gi=43231&date=1283560348

Already volunteered to DM, and negotiating with ThornDJL7 as to what to run so that I can continue playing... :)

(Truth be told, I've only ever GMed - and organised - shared campaigns before, so it's good to be a player for once!)

Opened up player invites now that I've got additional GMs. Stop by the game link to join. :)
